Hehe well yea it certainly also reminded me of city of god, when I described the movie to a friend I said " its kinda like city of god but instead of all the killing, drugs gangsta stuff its a cheesy love story" ^^ Certainly wouldnt go as far as using the word plagiarism though, the script of slumdog is still great and original, its mainly the style that really reminded of city of god. + Show Spoiler + And to the people saying it is too unrealistic: well sure it is but thats what I love about that "who wants to be a millionaire" question with those 4 answers a) hes a genius b)luck c) cheated d) it's scripted it shows you that they were well aware that its a little fairytaleish

![]() A Light Sleep Pretty mellow and gloomy korean indie drama. Got some cool cinematography and a male actor that somewhat resembles Stork in some angles. The main girl actor is pretty cute and the child actor is amazingly enough not extremely annoying which is a relief. Got a real indie feel to it since the movie itself is pretty vague and not like some blown up over the top drama. It makes a very good job at depicting the feeling of the main character. It's got some great cinematography in it as well for being a indie movie, pretty gorgeous shots of Seoul and its surroundings. All in all, if you enjoy korean movies and you like this type of movie it's worth watching, but for a beginner to korean indie movies you might get bored. Rating: 8/10

(evil corporation taking over where Umbrella left off blah blah blah monsters, blah blah blah lame insert characters.) Still, it was pretty enjoyable in terms of the CGI used (damn they got Claire Redfield right this time - expressions, voice acting, basically she was excellently portrayed. XD Although Leon looked a bit 'pinched.' it was nice to see his voice actor reprising his role from Resi 4.) - the final monster (a form of tyrant/G-virus hybrid.) looked a bit OTT/shiny, but other than that it was well done. Still the token evil BRITISH bloke made me laugh my ass off. Capcom *always* makes us Brits evil. We rock.

I've watch all of the Alien movies and I can see someone liking Aliens over Alien. Yes Alien is nostalgic but Aliens had way more action and better effects and it was pretty amazing imo. I prefer Aliens over Alien myself. Also if your saying prefers Jedi over Empire like saying prefers Return of the Jedi over the Empire strikes back then I am one of those people who prefers Return of the Jedi over Empire because I love the ending fight between luke and darth vader and everything.

The Dark Knight (8.5/10): the best superhero film i've ever seen -- transcendent of that genre. it has a greater depth than any superhero film i've seen, with (sometimes oversimplified) philosophical dilemmas, and a lot of characters in this film have totally different perceptions of their life. it makes you think. that said, it has all of the awesomeness and action you'd expect out of a superhero film, though iron man may be a bit better for pure "wow" value. heath ledger, as everyone says, is fantastic in this movie. everyone else in this film is just good -- it actually brings heath ledger's performance down a little bit. whenever heath ledger is not in a scene, you wish he was. Dogma (6/10): decent comedy. the first half of the movie is really funny, while the second tends to get over the top and stupid. jay and silent bob and matt damon's character are awesome. Mongol (8/10): this is basically a foreign language 300 with substance. really good action film -- surprised it didn't get more attention. Milk (9/10): my favorite film from 2008 so far. if you hate gay people or can't stand the sight of men kissing, parts of this movie may disturb you. this is an extremely emotional and well-acted film that tells a true story that, for some reason, is still relevant decades later. The Aviator (8.5/10): this is probably the best dicaprio movie i've seen. i'm a sucker for any movie that deals with neurosis/overwhelming eccentricity of the main characters. great acting by dicaprio, even better story. Gangs of New York (6.5/10): i saw this in response to daniel day-lewis' performance in there will be blood, which is one of the best films i've ever seen. even though the acting is in this movie, i found the story to be a bit sprawling and boring. it has a similar tone to there will be blood, both films based on American history and taking place about 40 years from one another. this film just hasn't have the same depth in its characters (or as good of a film score, for that matter). Frost/Nixon (8/10): great political movie. extremely accessible, people who hate politics will most likely still enjoy this movie. it provides good insight into American politics that is still relevant today. Religulous (7.5/10): funny movie, especially the interview with the catholic priest and that senator from...arkansas? as a documentary, it's uninformative and extremely biased, and i say this as an agnostic. maher deliberately avoids interviewing any theologians or other religious people who are sufficiently informed to debate with him. instead he focuses on the ineptitude of the average religious person seemingly to convince the viewer that there are no intelligent christians. he does interview a prominent christian physicist, whose only real authority on the subject is that he's intelligent and inquisitive, but we don't get to hear many of his responses. overall, this film is funny but shouldn't be used to sway one's religious preference one way or another. Gran Torino (7.5/10): cool movie. clint eastwood is awesome and hilarious here, after so many years. good story, decent acting by everyone except for the lead young male actor, who is absolutely terrible at times. this movie is hilarious at some points and very powerful at others. Grizzly Man (9/10): i'm a big fan of werner herzog's early films and wanted to try out his later documentaries. this and Encounters at the End of the World are the best of them. this film is pretty much a psychological study of a very eccentric character (a man, Timothy Treadwell, who films himself living with grizzly bears). it deals with a lot of the people who knew him, and some people who didn't. it makes you think about why living this type of life is both extremely rewarding and very bad, and it sheds the true nature of ... nature. it also has some AMAZING animal footage, so if you're a fan of that, check it out too! also, i'll echo the city of god recommendation everyone else has been giving. saw this film in a college film course a few years ago -- it's awesome! and yes, slumdog millionaire is derivative in many respects.

![]() Departures One of the best movies I've seen in a pretty long while. The characters in the movie feel so alive and every actor did an outstanding job. A lot of underlying plots that lie somewhat submerged in the background all tie together in the end. The movie really feels complete, after you've watched it it really leaves a mark in your mind, not something you rent and forget an hour afterwards. It really brings out all the emotions and does it really well, never does it feel generic and the chemistry between the two main actors tie it together into a classic movie. I'm giving it a 10/10 since it feels like such a complete movie which I will remember for a long time.

Is it just me or did they make Nixon far too badass in this movie? Frank Langella was fun to watch but he was everything Nixon wasn't - charismatic, self-aware, good-looking, etc. The typical view of Nixon is of this scheming, awkward, vile little man - or at least that's how we're used to seeing him. I enjoyed the movie and the performances but it struck me as a trivial historical tangent being presented as something significant. To do so they had to make Nixon seem a much more skillful combatant than he was and they needed to pretend like everyone on the planet didn't already know that he did it or that the people who didn't already know still cared... But I'm a nerd for political movies, so I didn't mind it ;-)

Then again Machinegirl was quite entertaining, hilarious gore. According to the movie when a person loses finger or two it will spray a shitload of blood, actually whatever part of their bodies gets cut up there will be ridiculous amount of blood spraying around... high bloodpressure I guess lol. I recently got around to watch the Mortal Kombat movies made in 90's as I had never seen them before. I hadn't missed much, they were just as bad as I was expecting, but despite all that I don't really regret watching them.

I haven't read any of the comics before, and hadn't read anything about the movie, so knew practially nothing going into the theatre. I guess it was alright, but god damn it was so long!! And I really didn't know what to make of it all, it felt like there were so many different storylines and stuff that didn't make much sense ![]() I think it would've been a better experience if I had read some of the comics before seeing it.
