Shields are hard for action scenes in general, but effective for fighting in real life. From my understanding of filming fight scenes, shields are less safe that sword v sword because it requires the actors to be much closer together to get convincing shots. With two swords, they can just stand a fixed distance and it is almost impossible for them to connect with each other when they have to do the full swings that are not killing blows. And shields are sort of dull to visually, unless you are throwing it.
Helmets are just cumbersome and obscure the actors face. And also have safety issues, since actors/stunt person can’t see or has limited vision. Notice that after season one everyone ditched their full helmet?
Cool episode on Sunday but holy shit some decisions they make are absolutely ridiculous. Daenerys shows up at the pyramid while the city is under attack, no doubt hundreds are dying, and she's doing her pokerface at a dumbfounded Tyrion for a long minute like "I'M NOT CONCERNED ABOUT THIS AT ALL" as the city is on fire. That was so out of character from carebear Daenerys. And then they decide to travel far from the city to discuss terms of surrender, wasting time as the city is being bombarded.
Defend yourself and then discuss the terms of surrender, don't just let hundreds of people die to make a point and get the cool factor. "We're here to discuss terms of surrender" HA! FOOLED YA. Worth the 30 minutes ride spent not defending the city. Good joke. No need for anything believable, we just wanted to see the look on the Wise Master's faces!

Well changing the actress now would be pretty weird

Is there anything you dont know?
I love movie/TV production, special effects and anything involving the creation of movies or video games. I’m a member of Test.com, which is owned by Adam Savage. He used to build props before myth busters and still build them today as a hobby. I will watch any making of video that involves the production of special effects or prop making.
Like did you know that there are 3-4 different swords for Jon Snow alone. One is called the Hero’s prop, which is for close ups and made up metal. The other ones are for different types of actions scenes or shots. They will have one sword for if the blow is going to connect with a person and one if it will connect with another sword. The same goes for any gun you see in a movie. Most guns are made of rubber if the shot does not involve them being fired. Some masters at arms for movies will advertise that they don’t own any real, functional guns to studios because that is a big concern for some of them.
So yes, when it comes to movies, I know enough to talk about special effects production with some level an armature level of authority on the internet. Much like everyone who is an expert in net code if they play a 3d shooter. All decisions in special effect scenes center around safety for the actors first and everything else second.

I just can't tell if you would be the most boring or the most interesting person I met if I met you in real life. Im honestly curious.

I've been told I'm fun? Knowing how stuff is made is cool. And I feel it makes movies more enjoyable because you have context for why specific decisions were made.

I know, right. She did well in S1 when she didn't need to have much stature/authority, but since then it's ben all downhill.
I don't know how she could make this scene any better, it's not her fault her character often has to say or do stupid things
She just lacks "stage presence" so to say. In my opinion a lot of other actresses could make those scenes work. I still think she's the problem not the script. I'm not saying shes a bad actress or anything, just that she's a bad choice for that role.
Well call me dumb but I have no idea why Sansa wouldn't let Jon know there is possiblity of getting help from Vale. What was the advantage to hiding that info?
Also, battle choreography was really good, but that pile of bodies was just ridiculous.

Okayish episode, I'd say.
People have talked about it and there are a bunch of reasons. She might not have known if the knights would come at all and didn’t want to get Jon’s hopes up. Jon might not have accepted the help since Little Finger betrayed Ned and Jon might know about that. She might not completely trust Jon or anyone after all she has been through. She wanted Jon to challenge Ramsey and get into a battle without knowing the vale would come, because Ramsey wouldn’t enter the fight if he thought he could lose.
There are a bunch of reasons and to be honest, I bet it is a couple of those.

To make sure John wouldn't use it as leverage to release Rickon, guaranteeing Rickon's and Ramsey's death, making her the de facto lady of Winterfell.
Lol jk, it's so that we're surprised when the army shows up.
