Oh man, oh man. The season is heating up.
I used to dislike Quinn a lot, but after this episode I realized he's becoming less one-dimensional from being with Deb.
I'm glad that they're going back to Dexter wanting to be a family man. I was really worried that he would forget about the progress he has made to becoming more human after the end of season four.

pretty damn terrible episode but I think its laid the path for a good finale

Oh god what a cliffhanger.
This is why I prefer to wait until the entire season is out before I watch it, but this show is too damn good to wait.
I don't know why people are complaining about Julia Stiles, I think she's doing a great job. Hell, this episode was so well directed even Astor was good.

Harry's not once agreed with Dexter doing things for other people over himself, and now Dexter beats up that child beater and all of a sudden Harry's proud he "put himself out there for someone else?" What's that about.

You do realize that Harry is dead and the Harry he's talking to is just Dexter's imagination right?

@dudeman, yeah it was out of character and downright hypocritical due to his vehement objections to it in previous instances, but it happened. its out there. it cant be unsaid.

@Gene, a hallucination is not a character. It may have been out of character for Dexter to think that his DEAD dad would approve of his actions, but maybe that's just what Dexter wanted to hear at the time. After all, everything that Harry says comes from Dexter's brain.
|
That was the best episode ending since "Hello....Dexter Morgan".

I don't think it's what he wants to hear whatsoever. Why on earth would he constantly argue with himself and be all "I DONT WANT TO HEAR IT RIGHT NOW" I think you're watching too literally about the hallucination thing. If it comes from his brain at all, it's going to be what he expects his dad to say, to keep him in check and all that. What he would expect the code to say or where he woudl expect it to direct him.
Though I dont necessarily believe all-in that it comes from Dexter at all.

I almost feel like Quinn is the "moral" good guy, having a hunch about someone that should not be questioned, but still doing it.

This season is crazy good, i'm in love with this show again. It's was downhill for awhile but now its back on track.

I would say that if you ever thought Quinn was one-dimensional, you judged him too soon. He was never meant to be an entirely sympathetic character, but he's always been pretty well-rounded and interesting. I'm very eager to see what the rest of the season has in store for him.

Dexter just isn't a kill of the week type of show, its a story with a continuous arc and you simply cant remove one part of it and regress. Agreed. Best episode of season 5 so far imo.

I get the feeling some people are judging episodes based on whether someone gets killed in the end or not. If everyone stays alive those people come out of nowhere screaming "what a lame episode. fuck dexter".
Personally, I love the development of the characters and the plot. Not only this season, over all five seasons. Just great. What they made with the person Dexter, his interaction between "real dexter" and homicide department, his family, how people (Deb, Quinn, even LaGuerta) get to know the real Dexter more and more is just brilliant. Seriously. Call it soapopera, well fuck you. This is amazing stuff!

Great episode. I agree with ppl saying it was downhill for awhile but i think i'm a fan again
