+ Show Spoiler +They were trying to get it to the van on the other side of the field, they made a pretty big deal about showing that.

Man I'm gona need a minute. If you've watched every other marvel movie you will be watching this. It's a cinematic event like nothing else In history.
I don't think i can even compare it to anything else. It's just something you can't compare to other things.

I didn't think it was perfect and I thought Infinity War was a better movie for the most part, but Endgame was still damn entertaining. Marvel and Disney has created a monument of pop culture with their MCU.
I just wish it had an intermission so I didn't have to lose out on a few minutes near the end.

+ Show Spoiler +The gathering of heroes for the final battle really reminded me of Ready Player One, but a lot better because these characters have been fleshed out and developed, as opposed to being a bunch of Easter Eggs
Also, who was the man at the funeral promising the cheeseburgers to Iron Man's daughter?

I have some questions, if anyone can elaborate
+ Show Spoiler + 1) The Captain legacy, he gave it to Sam, but how does this make any sense, since, sam is an ordinary human, he cannot really take advantage of the shield. I was expecting to give ti to Bucky, since, he as GMO human can actually use it vs powerful weapons. Perhaps the shield will become just a relic from the past and Sam will not really use it or Sam will just no longer appear, was this just the end for these personages? What do you guys think?
2) How come the captain was capable of throwing lightnings ? I understand that he became worthy to carry it, but lightnings?
3) How did tony stole the stones from the glove and how come he had another glove to put them on and why ordinary people like Clint were able to carry stones that are supposed to tear them apart?
4) Why would they not go back in the past and bring another tony from there?

John Favreau he was in the iron man movies and the spiderman movie. He directed Elf and the first two Iron man movies before becoming the Executive producer on the third iron man movie and the last three avengers movie.

+ Show Spoiler +1 yeah This happens in the comic book, He just becomes captain America and starts doing captain American things
2. I guess its just a function of the hammer
3. Tony stole the stones realy quick while he was grapeling with thanos and is armor is nanoparticles anyway so tey could just reform the way he wanted them to I guess.
4 They would mess up the timeline not that the entire timeline is already wrecked with thanos coming to modern time from before GOTG 1

Thanks - I"ll probably have to rewatch some of those movies. Couldn't keep up with all the characters

Same. I really liked it, but I definitely enjoyed Infinity War a lot more. I am curious where it's going to go from here.

I enjoyed Inifity war more but I think that Endgame is a better movie because it had a lot more to do and was burdened by being a movie with an ending.
+ Show Spoiler +Its a lot like bojack horseman. That show will speak to some people and break them on the deepest emotional level. Free churro is the best episode of television and I will take my shirt off right now and knife fight you about it.

I am curious where it's going to go from here. It's gonna be hella hard to match the same scale of buildup that the MCU was doing up to Infinity War. However, I'm not familiar with the comics, so I'm also curious if there are any other storylines that are worth big multi-movie arcs. It might be entirely possible that future movies focus on smaller-scale stories and heroes with only references and cameos to the rest of the MCU. Whatever happens, I think it's impressive to see how well Disney pulled off these first 3 phases of the MCU for the most part, and I'm confident that there'll be at least some good movies to come in the future phases even if they don't match the ambition of what they've already done.

Well we kinda need a big villain don't we. Dormammu we already saw and he isn't defeated. So there is a chance he will return. Issue always being that you cannot really portrait the real strength. Couldn't do it for Thanos, won't be able to do it for more powerful beings

I thought it was ok, not phenomenal. I definitely enjoyed it and got my money's worth, but it didn't exactly blow me away either.
+ Show Spoiler +The time travel to previous movies was a neat tie-in, but oftentimes it honestly felt like it recycled plot points or introduced drama that really didn't have a chance to play out organically. Avengers movies always have too much going on, but the plot points here too often felt just a little too... convenient. Only dragon ball hunting adventure that really "worked" in terms of introducing meaningful character development was the Thor and Frigga interaction; the rest just kind of ended up being filler time.
Had a lot of really solid humor and the big grand battles were fun to watch. Feels like it tried to resolve far too many plot elements for its own good, and ended up rushing to the finish line, though.

Saw the Movie on tuesday,a few thoughts:
+ Show Spoiler + First of all I thought it was an excellent movie. It probably didn't blow most people away as much as Infinity War did, but there are several key reasons for that:
1. Expectations: Because of how good Infinity War was and because it was the finale of a 22 movie, 11 year stretching era, expectations were unrealistically high. Not only that, everyone was expecting different things from this movie, which can only result in disappointment for many.
2. History: Closely related to point 1, there many, MANY loose knots to tie up, plots to delevope, relatioships to toggle and stories to finish. Doing all of that in just one 3 hour movie is close to impossible.
3. Scope: Due to the sheer magnitude of the MCU and its history, there were simply too many charatercs, specficially too many super heroes. There is no way all of them are going to get enough screen time, but at the same time, you cannot just NOT show them, so the directors and writers had to find a balance for every single story, every single character.
4. Infinity War's Legacy: As I said before, expectations were insanely high, mostly because Infinity War. But here's the crux: Infinity War had two things going for it - A badass super villain that was able to defeat all the heroes by himself, and an ending which let the bad guys win for a change. This was both a blessing and a curse, because a) having one big badass has one major downside: He can't be everywhere at once and he can't fight all of them at the same time. It's insanely hard to make him not either too powerful or too weak, and I feel that marvel has done an excellent job at that. But that is also what made that final battle feel meaningless apart from the scenes with Thanos in them due to what I refer to as the "cannonfodder effect". We know that neither of the heroes are gonna be hurt or stopped by a random alien, no matter how big it is. Mostly movies avoid that by introducing several super villains to go toe to toe with the heroes, but those had already been defeated in the 21 movies leading up to Endgame. It also would have made Thanos less important and thus ultimately meant that Infinity War could never have been as impactful as it was. Similarly the ending of infinity War mostly forced Marvel's hand. We knew the heroes somehow had to turn back time in order to win. Not only that, they actually HAD to win period, in order to continue the MCU in its current state.
So all things considered, Marvel did a fantastic job imo. There were twists, there was humor, there was drama, there was suspense, there was fan service, there was loss, there was mourning, there was hope and there was for my taste a perfect last scene that sums up all of what the MCU stood for. It wasn't perfect, but it was as good as we could have hoped for considering the stakes and expectations. I mean compare this to the shit show that is star wars these days.

Please, let's not. Let's focus on the MCU and Endgame. We can have another thread for Star Wars if/when needed.

I think you misread my point, I wanted people to compare the quality of the recent MCU movies and the star wars movies respectively inside their own heads, not vocally in this thread.

A pre-emptive post in that I just don't want this to turn into (another) shouting match

I saw it on Thursday after work. Copped 3D because I was in a rush to get the pre-order tickets when they released. Didn't ruin the film, but I'll have to see it in IMAX to get a better feeling.
All in all, it hit every emotional string and I found myself surprised how much I was invested in these films. A lot of the moments were just perfectly portrayed.
My biggest issue with the movie was the + Show Spoiler +non-need of Capt Marvel. She just delayed Thanos by like 2-3 seconds. Captain America wielding the hammer was amazing but the lightning was kinda forced. And where the hell did he put it after he time traveled back? Sam becoming Black Capt is amazing (he becomes CA in the comics, as does Bucky but I guess they didn't want him to take over).

+ Show Spoiler +Oddly enough I found your issue to be one of the movie's strong suits. People were expecting the introduction Cpt Marvel to be a cop out as to how to save the world. Instead, she barely made any difference within the movie. What I didn't like was that they had no introductory scene for when she met the other avengers. She was just "there" all of the sudden. I am sure I saw a scene about the avengers checking out Fury's signal in one of the post credit scenes or a trailer, so the producers probably just cut that part?
Unrelated question: How did the Avengers know that the time stone would be in New York at that time, when it was five years before Dr. Strange even acquired it?
