I don't really understand what you mean. How is that dialogue arrogant?

"How simple is the idea?.... No idea is simple." That's kinda funny.

It's not original.
It's not ?
The Matrix? Alice in fing Wonderland? Dozens of books and comics before it?

I guess every movie after the 1960 is not original right?
I only saw this movie recently and I thought it was pretty badass. Could get in a big discussion about how original it was or wasn't but I wont't. I enjoyed it and that's all that matters. ^.^

Like seriously it is not a good movie at all, get over yourselves already.
Agreed, people who like deep movies like me, all seem to think that Inception isnt as great as all the jerkoffs that fall for the hype does.

It tries to be smart, but isnt.
It's not even hard to understand... I think it was a good movie, was interesting. Sure ridiculous but it kept me entertained for a couple hours.

Agreed. My taste in movies is impeccable, I only like great movies and everyone who likes something I don't do it because they are jerks who are stupid and don't understand movies like I do!
Seriously, that is the single most tired argument I have heard from people who didn't like this movie. If you don't like it that's fine, but don't make up bullshit reasons for why you think others do.

One of those "jerkoffs", aka me, didn't fall for the hype, but liked the movie because it entertained, much more so than some of the "deep" movies you seem to like.

It's a little arrogantly stated, but I agree.
Inception
Pros: cool special effects, a really cool science fiction idea. Decent supporting actors.
Cons: Somewhat dry supporting characters, the way Dicaprio's character is haunted by the death of his wife (not unlike Shutter Island?) comes across as kind of forced and gross. The plot is edgy and feels pretty engaging (for most people). But for a movie that spends so much effort trying to have its world make sense and be believable, the plot has some major holes; for example, it never explains why DICAPRIO's wife is showing up in the subconscious of OTHER PEOPLE's dreams. Sure, there may be some possible explanation for this, but as the movie stands, it feels like something the screenwriter just overlooked or didn't really think about.
Summary:
Inception isn't a bad movie, at least by normal standards. Because I'm a person that usually prefers slower, character based films to those that run so fast they leave everything behind, I didn't like it. And it's not just that. There are some exceptions. I liked Avatar, even though it's a pretty unoriginal story. I think I would have been more okay with Inception if there wasn't so much hype surrounding what really is a pretty mediocre movie. And I think Inception does try to be a lot smarter than it really is. But hey, whatever.
This movie is amazing. I don't spend much time watching modern movies because most of them are just bad, I usually watch "Saturday night at the movies" on TVO(its in toronto, canada) and they usually pick really good films and I only watch those, and even I can say that this movie is among the best films of the last decade. Sure its not the best film, but amidst the terrible films that come out today, this is pure gold.
i liked it untill i talked to other people about it when it was over. i was like `kk cool movie` and my friends were all `omg best movie ever` and ` wow i need to watch it 3 more times to understand it` seriously it`s not really hard to understand everything after the first viewing if you pay attention and it certainly isn`t worth an oscar. try watching memento if you want similar but serious brainfood.
I don't really know if this is worth bumping or not but I didn't want to start a whole new thread just to post my thoughts.
I've seen people go all over about theories and explanations about whether or not it was reality or a dream and how debates about this have been going on for as long as this sentence is. But to me, I think that's not the point.
To me, what really struck me at the ending was how Cobb didn't even bother to look at his totem when he saw his children. Cobb was a man obsessed with defining dream from reality and his totem was the only secure way of him knowing what was real and what was not. But when he saw his children, he left that security behind. In the end, he settled for what he saw be it a dream or not because he just wanted to be with his children.
Why I thought this was a really great show is because it portrayed reality to be something relative. Because in the end, we may still not accept reality for what it is.

TBH to me most movies tend to fall pretty short with characters, if I want believable and likable characters I'll watch a TV show that actually has the time to explore the characters. A movie can make 1, MAYBE 2 characters have depth. That's not to say a movie can't have good characters though.
Agreed about it being over-rated to a point, I watched it expecting to get my mind blown (which I was told it would be), yet nothing was hard to understand, at all. In fact if you actually think about what happens in the movie, the first half is just explaining the concept of the movie, and the second half is them doing the dream robbery.

I think you got it a bit reversed, he was obsessed with seeing his children. Whenever he saw them in what he thought was a dream he would always look away, since he knew if he saw them he would stop caring about reality altogether and just be where they are. He wanted to see them, but more than that he wanted to see them for real and not in a dream. But once he finally was able to see them again, exactly what he feared happened: he no longer cared if it was reality or not.
I don't think he was obsessed about seeing his children. He was obsessed with questioning what is real and what is not. In the end, he stopped questioning and accepted what really made him happy as a person.
EDIT: But yeah. In the end, it is all about your own perception of how you view it though.
I love how these nerds think they are smart by saying that people who like inception are people who want to look smart. Hypocritical in my opinion. Do you think you can make a better movie than this if you had the money to do so?
Although i didn't love the movie, i thought it was still great and i have much respect for the movie, the director and dicaprio's acting.
