An absolutely godlike soundtrack, awesome plot and good acting, what do you want more?

Trying to be smart and -actually- being easy to understand is not mutually exclusive. I thought the movie was way too convoluted to be really good. Don't get me wrong, I got it, but the whole entering dreams and altering them could've been done in a way more elegant way, instead Nolan went with: "No, it's an exact science, and entering a new level exactly triples the time stuff takes in there". He could've made great art, instead he went for entertainment and trying to wow people. Movie is currently number nine on IMDB's list of the best movies ever made, above classics such as Casablanca, It's a Wonderful Life, and Starwars, to name a few and barely belongs in the top 100 in my opinion.

All i hear is heavy use of percussions, no real theme and motif.... Compare to Zimmer's older work like The Lion King, this is a huge let down.

I also didn't like the fact that the dream is so ordinary (given if the team didn't enter the dream). A movie about dream,: Paprika is probably the best at it.

If that doesn't consitute a good song, I don't know what does.Apparently a lot of people dont know that the song Non, je ne regrette nien by Edith Piaf, which Cobb hears when he wakes up is the same song used throughout the whole movie. They just slow it down crazy later on in the movie in accordance to what it is supposed to sound like slowed down and stuff. But then again, it's all subjective anyway ![]()

Yet somehow he managed to only barely accomplish the first. I'm one of Nolan's biggest and earliest supporters, but I agree. Then again, good drama is rarely about distracting the audience. Nolan's films are rarely entertaining in the throwaway sense of Michael Bay or Ron Howard, and I find most of his work to be grueling, cold, and efficient. It's the same admiration I have for Terminator- or Aliens-era James Cameron or Martin Scorsese--there's nothing groundbreaking or out of bounds, but his work is consistently efficient, lean, and smart in a way that few other directors can match.

Yes, it's called an opinion, contrary to: "Trying to be smart and -actually- being easy to understand is not mutually exclusive." -- Which is merely stating a fact.

And apart from that is a magnificent piece of music on its own in my humble opinion. And have you ever listened to the whole soundtrack? There is a recurring motif. Maybe it's not as much prevalent as in Zimmer's other works (or most film music composers' for that matter). It's subtler and I like it that way. All in all it is just a matter of personal preference, but I encourage you to revisit the soundtrack if you are somewhat into film scores.

There really aren't points to be scored by acting smart and breaking it apart too much. Understand that if you want movies that are critically acclaimed, go and watch independent films.
