Mac v PC, PC v Console, LoL v Dota, east v west. Stakes so low, yet so vicious. Except I have no east or west allegiance. My point in almost all west/east arguments is that it doesn't matter, it's about individual teams. Arguing which 'scene' is strong is pointless, it's about which teams are strongest. And at the moment, it's very mixed, which is good for dota. Yeah, it's almost entirely something that's the concern of the fans, not the players. :/ Hvost has said in a recent interview that he thinks the teams to watch out for this tournament are LGD, iG, and TF. He also heavily implied that he thinks Alliance is not very good, and then in the interview after his group stages, he said he thought that though Alliance played very solid, TF was clearly dicking around. Idk, make of that what you will.

Or maybe it was very short, but didn't look like it to me.

Yeah who needs storylines in sports... Rugby Union thrives on a healthy Northern vs Southern hemisphere rivalry, East vs West actually makes more sense.

Think they targeted Mushi first. He is more important right now so.

East vs. West is not just a storyline.
Teams training in different environments group up in clusters when it comes to the analysis of their strategies, play, etc.
This is why we're able to say, for example, Chinese teams don't know how to play Wisp.

In traditional sports people root for their home country. In eSports many don't even have that option.
It's a very different situation to traditional sports. It's more like MMA. You can't say "Brazil has the best fighters". They have some of the best fighters. Of course people will still cheer for home-town fighters. But in terms of evaluating scenes, it's not something that's done.

This is starting to look like Mouz's game. Losing all outer towers, taking very few themselves, relying on their carry to split push to keep it close.

plus with the wide availability of streams and replays, there has been a lot of convergence in style.
