Aegis means OD cannot be focused first in a teamfight and guarantees he will get off an ult and dps even if he gets blown up right away or disabled, which is exactly what happened. The threat of aegis means Orange could actually push a rax with something to fall back and win the game.

the aegis deny was only the beginning of the huge mistakes from orange. it led them to take unfavorable fights which would not have happened if they had the aegis.
