navi only lost in the winners bracket final and already had to play 3 more games than Alliance, risk showing some strats to get wins and not drop out of the tournament and play a bo3 one hour before the finals. how is that not advantage for WB winner? you can argue its not enough, i believe it is, but you cant say it doesnt exist

There's been a whole lot of comebacks this TI. Goes to show how well Icefrog has managed the game.

No one likes game advantages. They make for fucking boring finals 80% of the time.

Agreed.

Their advantage is that they don't have to play an extra set of matches like Na'Vi had to. That in itself is plenty of an advantage.

Could also argue that playing more games gets you more settled in and feel hot

it's not even an advantage that alliance played zero matches today. with the adrenaline and nervousness, it's not like navi is not going to be fatigued going into this final.. navi got to release that and play what is essentially a warmup set. meanwhile alliance nervously sits in the green room, waiting for hours until they get to play their first game of the day with no practice.

For those complaining about the format, the way to see it is this way.

The whole playoffs were not to pick the winner. It is to pick the top 2 teams who will play in a grand final. It's a 2 separate stage in the tournament.

So there are actually 3 stages in the tournament which is groupstage, playoff, grand finals. Each stage is separate.

Teams who did better in group stage didn't start with a 1-0 advantage in the playoff as well despite winning more games.

I've seen some sick FGC matches that wouldn't be possible without winner's advantage.

Plus it's called double-elimination for a reason, so that everyone can lose once and still stay in the tournament

FGC matches are very fast compared to dota and extremely momentum based. additionally valve probably prefers more games to be played anyway, but not bo7 or some kind of weird system. its kidn of dumb when WB teams just win 2-0 and its over just like that

But why call it double-elimination in the first place if the winner gets no advantage

Excellent mindset for this format.

Na'vi just had to play a nailbiter to even get to play Alliance, they're tired as fuck and Alliance has been watching their games. Even with a WB advantage Na'vi is going to get straight rolled.

Agreed.

Disagreed.

Well Alliance would play 2 games instead of 3 no big deal in this specific finals

I wouldn't like that for the 1 game advantage.

I think that it should be a Bo7 with Alliance having a 1 game advantage. That way we have 3-6 games, so only 1 more than now, with just 1 possibility for that.

"No one likes advantages", well how about the advantage that Na'Vi is still in the tournament after losing a series?

so many blind navi fanboys too, acting like navi are gods and they made a miraculous comeback, when it was clear that orange was on tilt after that aegis deny

Yeah, its called being cool under pressure. Its the sign of a great team.

The salty Orange fans are funny. Orange is a great team and played really well, but couldn't hold it together in the end.

That had nothing to do with it. If they didn't deny the aegis Na'Vi lost, simple as that.

People who are far better at Dota 2 disagree with you. Even with the aegis, they might not have been able to break the base. They have one damage source that was losing steam.

I disagree with all of you, Orange wouldve won that game with that aegis.
