Alright then, yeah. Just a shitty situation I guess.

so i've played a butt ton of games of Dota 2 in the last couple of months since i discovered it via TI2 but i don't really ever gank. I've played mostly solo mid and i've been content with just sitting in my lane getting last hits and exp (mainly playing invoker/tinker). i've played a fair amount of games as hard carry and also as a support but in both of those roles i focus on just getting the most farm possible for the carry. i've started trying to play more of a ganking role the last couple of days with rubick and templar assassin but its killing me to miss out on the gold/exp when i leave the lane (also letting my opponent in lane free farm).
i've found a couple of guides on ganking in general but they focused on when to gank and how to execute the gank itself. i'm a little lost on what to do AFTER i gank. do i push the tower? do i just walk back to mid? tp back?
basically i suck at ganking. help please.

Is it possible to stack more than one camp at a time? I know dota 1 there used to be paths where you could stack multiple camps. What are the timings for it now (if they exist)? I don't have access to youtube, so I don't know if any of the youtube guides mention it.

"It depends."
Both TA (post 6) and Rubick (pre 6, in some matchups even post 6) have great rune control. The easiest way would be to see cool runes for a possible gank (Regen is the only one which sucks for it) and give it a go if lanes / teammates are in a position to pull it off. Basically you're almost always trading farm vs rune and/or gank, TA for example can just shove lane before grabbing rune tho.
As for what to do after a gank "it depends". Do the enemies have TPs on cd? Do you have heavy pushers like Chen, Enchantress, Enigma, DK post 6, Jakiro in lane? Would you lose mid for the sidelane tower (bad trade)? Will the guy just respawn and somehow clear your stuff easily? Who just went missing?
Ideally you want to turn a small advantage (kill during gank) into a bigger advantage (dead tower) into an even bigger advantage (more farm space -> more farm for your carry -> free supports -> more towers). If during any of those steps you are likely to lose more than you'd gain (e.g. enemies TPing to the T2, mid tower about to die) you have to re-evaluate the situation and think about if you're still doing favorable trades.

Easy ones off the top of my head would be: -Dire big camp -> stack towards small camp -> run towards tower = both stack -Radiant eat tree behind medium camp, start stacking from behind, start stacking 2nd medium, walk towards the right side = both stack.

But again getting it too early is a waste if finances are tight since you won't hit 15 charges in small-scale skirmishes. I remember people completing the recipe before the game starts, and the rest of their inventory is empty.
Since the bracer/null talisman/wraith band +damage buff, it's much more cost effective to complete one of those and drop an ironwood than it is to buy the wand recipe. It's basically 300 gold for +3 stats before big team fights, which is worse than a circlet/basilius/blades of attack.

Just go jungle; SK can do that from level one. Only go to your lane to defend their pushes. Yes, there is an axe in the jungle, but you can share. While you may be gettting xp (if even that) on your lane, you won't get gold. By jungling, you will get gold, and levels, thus making you not useless later on. Yes, you do lose your tower, but the end result is worth it. Shitty situation, but you kind of have to against that sort of lane.

cool thanks for the advice. this ganking/roaming role is just a completely different way to approach the game that i hadn't really considered before. TA so fun! (just went 24-7-16).

TA is weird. Like I never have any clue what I'm doing but somehow I still win most of the time. Blink in, faceroll keyboard, stuff dies. :X

If they didn't block it (I'm guessing they didn't since it seems like they are terrible from what you say), you can stack and pull. You don't even need to farm it, just pull the creeps under your tower. Doesn't even matter if they jack it for you (although the extra farm for them is a bad thing, so try to stop it). Since you are SK, level up aura and tank the creeps and get good at last hitting with tower. Stout shield is necessary for this, however.
If they did block it, you would hope that your team is good enough to not put you in that situation. If they do, then just try to soak XP. In the case of SK you can go jungle, but most heroes can't so don't rely on that.

Here's a question about playing support.
First off one of the biggest things I'm ambiguous about is when to buy my first set of wards, how often should I buy them, and where I should generally put them. Of course it can be very situational, but cmon there has to be SOME guidelines I can follow when I'm trying to decide when to get wards. In some games I can tell right away when to buy wards in games where there's a ganker that's about to go roam. But then sometimes when I play game together with my High MMR friends they'll buy wards although they aren't support and throw them in where ever they seem to think they need them... I don't understand the reasoning behind it which makes me feel pretty shitty for being the useless support.
Another thing is about how I should behave as support either if I'm babysitting a carry or roaming. If I'm not with a hard carry should I just be following my gankers or semi-carry around? Or even leading my gankers and semi-carries? It's so unclear to me right now... and if I am with a hard carry, how long should I stick with him? Until he can buy everything in shop lol?

Wards should be on cooldown 100% of the time ideally. Where to place them is extremely game dependent about what you're trying to accomplish. How much map control you have is directly correlated to where you should be warding. If you're far ahead and they can't win a teamfight, but you aren't strong enough to go high ground then you should aggressively ward outside their base so you can kill them if they leave. If you're turtling then you want to ward in positions that will allow you to safely farm.
You stay with your carry if he will die without you there. If the carry can farm safely without you then go accomplish something elsewhere. Stacking jungle, helping with ganks, denying runes, etc etc. You have to judge what is the best use of your time.
If you're playing with friends you could ask them for an explanation or just buy them and put them on the courier so anyone can place them.

First set of wards should be at the start of the game. You have enough starting gold for courier+wards+1-2 branches+some mix of consumables. Starting with any more personal items than those 2 branches is somewhat selfish (I hate seeing supports trying to start shit like Gauntlets instead of getting the wards)--the exception being that a random gold start can allow you to start with boots+smoke+consumables and make up the wards after getting a first blood gank. You should buy additional wards whenever they are off cd (though initially you should probably prioritize making the courier flying since by the time you can get the 2nd set of wards, the first set won't have run out yet). It's not abnormal for the support to not start buying items for themselves until ~10 minutes (though if you get time to pull creeps comfortably or get a kill/assist this can be significantly earlier).
First two wards are generally used to cover rune locations. If you have 2 sets of wards at the start (both supports buying a set) you have a little more flexibility (e.g. 2 rune wards + 1 on-lane ward on safe lane + 1 pull-block ward for hard lane).

Thanks for the answering my questions guys, that clears things up. My friends completely change when they get into a game of DotA man. I mean I think they even realize themselves that they're expecting me to do things off the bat in games that I wouldn't be able to do without some prior experience doing it. It's bizarre how there personalities change in DotA when I don't give 2 shits if they played CS or SC2 with me. When I ask them for advice they always sound annoyed when they give it to me =_=.
If I ever go support with them again they better not ever bitch about wards because now I know that they should always be bought on CD. Thanks again =)

Dota 2 noob here (got beta a week ago :D) and I was wondering in what situations are you supposed to get phase boots and when to get power treads.

Treads if you need extra HP, your hero does alot of auto attacking or benifits greatly from tread switching. Phase boots if your STOMPING, benefit from % movespeed or benefit from Bonus Damage over damage + attack speed. examples would be huskar getting phase cause he got first blood. Kunka getting phase because he benefits from incease damage on tidebringer. Shadow fiend getting treads because of bottle + tread switching. The safer route is always treads tho. Bonus health when you want it is never bad.
