Dota2 beta is invite only but it's easy to get a key from a third party if you pay about £3.50 (costs like £30 in official store). I would never recommend HoN to anyone, so you're left with LoL and Dota. LoL=much easier learning curve, simplier game, rpg lvling up that means u have to grind but it's much easier and you generally play with other noobs. Dota2=more complex game, harder to get into, but much more rewarding. Playing dota1 now is a bit meh imo, especially if you can't be bothered with 3rd party programs/an older game to actually play any good dota1 games. There's like a million lol vs dota2 debates so I'm sure you can search for them and weigh up the pros and cons for each.

Seem like less hassle and ofc its free compared to dota 2 which does look better imo but if what you say is true will take too much time to get good. Thanks for the help If anyone here has lol I will put you down as a referer if you like. Doubt it as it is a dota thread :D

I'm curious, because theres a thread with 0 replies about a guy whos mid skill. My guess is that he considers himself "high" MMR. Most people go by low, medium and high when ranking things. Only valve decides to start with normal and add superlatives..

Only play it if you intend to stick to it, IMO. If you are preparing for Dota 2, get in beta, since it's streamlined you aren't learning redundant things, seriously making wand is extremely challenging.. It's also good practice having activated items.. using 6 hotkeys for items is quite hard to be good at, and takes practice. Urn, Medallion, and Phase are some other cheap/easy ones.. I also like to have a consistent hotkey I always use for my tp scroll. Makes for faster escapes/fewer errors.

I just don't see how he has any true utility though, because everything I'm thinking he can do, it appears someone else can just do better.

For some reason I have a tendency to get 6 activated items on heroes with 4 activated skills. At least some of these slots are occupied by phase/arcane boots, wand and tp, so it's technically 7 mass-spam skills.

I don't get what the fuck he's supposed to do or what purpose he has. He has a pretty good slow, what appears to be an extremely mediocre single target damage spell, and a really fucking good shield that makes him extraordinarily bulky. What I was sort of getting a vibe was he was sort of some psuedo-Brewmaster for teamfights, in the sense that you abuse your Gravekeepers Cloak to just not die while you chain off stuns with your Familiars. I just don't see how he has any true utility though, because everything I'm thinking he can do, it appears someone else can just do better. yea u just win teamfights and trilanes with him his nuke is really good in early fights the cd is crazy short hes better than panda at not getting banned

By far my favourite item (wand would win but I'm really bored of it). ie furion with: medallion phase necronomicon hex orchids sometimes wand. 6 insanely good actives that all work well together (except wand, but it's a pretty good iteM). beastmaster with: medallion urn wand and soul ring or bottle depending on lane. sometimes phase/necronomicon.. (I don't really build urn or even medallion anymore because I'm always long lane BM, but if you are mid it's very very good and this is the hero I spent the most time with early in beta) I'm pretty confident with 6 items now so I don't go out of my way to do it, I just find that there are literally no competing with well used active items (pipe/mek are essential, medallion is fucking amazing if your team focuses at all, hex is.. well hex. orchids can be essential against a panda or blink hero. necrobook..) and it takes some practice to use all 6, hell it takes practice to remember you have them. Even players who have played for years still miss the occasional sprout.
