these are the main 6 questions you will almost always have to ask yourself. if you answer yes to 2, 3, 5 and 6 then you tp. 1 is dependent on the situation and if you answered yes to all, then you have to weigh up which is more important (for number 4). from a purely farming aspect though, there is no rule of thumb because you cant just look at gold numbers to see whether the tp was worth it. you have to account for a loss of map pressure in the lane you were in before you tped and a lot of other things too, like farm distribution amongst teammates

What range exactly does Aether Lense increase? I mean: It says "Increases spell cast range". But what about "break range"? For example a Razor Static Link has a cast range of 600 and a break range of 675. With Aether Lense would this be 800 and 875? Or 800 and (still) 675?

In this case it does increase both the cast and break range, and I assume the same applies for pugna/lion/DP/whomever

yes it increases the break range. personally it doesnt rly make much sense since the break has nothing to do with the casting but w/e....the wording of aether lens needs changing

Lens behaves inconsistently with various skills. Skills like Mirana's Arrow and KotL's Illuminate gain no range, despite spells with the same cast behavior like Magnus' Shockwave working fully with the item. The most confusing one is ET's ultimate. Even though the animation is extended by 200 range, the actual spell effect's range is completely unaffected.
In the case of Razor's Static Link, all leashing spells have the leash range extended by 200 in addition to the cast range EXCEPT Lion's Mana Drain (for no discernable reason).
Basically, until Valve fixes the interactions with Aether Lens, there's not much point in trying to make sense of what it does and doesn't work with.

Basically, typical Dota2 interactions.

how do i get better at mid laning? like im pretty trash (around 2k) but if i were to lane against, say, a 5k mid player he would absolutely demolish me.
i know he trades better, uses aggro better, but i dont know how he uses it better. are there any videos that go REALLy in-depth about how to mid-lane? i've already read chaq's guide but i struggle to put all those concepts into practice

Does octarine core give lifesteal to arcane orb on outworld?

It's pretty negligible though. You get 25% of what's usually 100-200 pure, so you're lifestealing for 25-50hp per attack and that's quite a poor return on your investment. You get 5-15hp from creeps which is nothing short of laughable.
On the other hand, the octarine steal off sanity's is legit.

Thank you for the detailed answer. Let's see if I understand it right.
Suppose their mid and roaming supports try to dive our mid tower. Since the rest of my teammates are aready engaged or have TP on cooldown (6) I TP mid, and save my team's mid hero (3) by killing theirs (2). But, having used most of my mana, I can't pressure the tower afterwards against the supports (5) so this is a bad rotation?

It's still potentially fine, but it depends on a couple other factors you didn't consider yet.
The question is where your supports are and what their offlaner is doing. Purely on your farm, it's fine since early game you don't farm fast and aren't losing much--the question is whether a support is letting the farm in your lane not get wasted and whether you're giving their offlane precious time to get XP and gold.

But, having used most of my mana, I can't pressure the tower afterwards against the supports (5) so this is a bad rotation? yeah its near impossible for us to say whether that situation would have been worth it or not. there are so many other factors that you still need to look at. where are the lane creeps at mid and bot after you left? could your supports have killed the mid even if your mid died? (a trade) whos the enemy offlaner? by you leaving the lane is the offlaner going to get some much needed xp/gold? if you had stayed in the lane would the offlaner have no farm/xp and be forced to leave the lane? was the mid carrying a bounty? or is he already underfarmed? are you underfarmed, struggling in your lane and desperately need a kill? are you farming like crazy and therefore can afford to give a kill to someone else?
as you can see the list of questions is enormous. the only way you will make the correct decision 9/10 times in these situations is to just keep playing and get experience. theres no way a beginner could ask himself all of these questions in less than a second. you have to just "know"

1) Do you get damaged by spectres passives if you use bkb? 2) Does silver edge goes thru bkb, or dispelled by bkb ?
thanks!
|
I know it's dispelled by bkb / manta but i have no certainty for your other questions :/
|
Northern Ireland22208 Posts
since 6.86 silver edge is no longer dispelled by anything, including bkb. however, u cant apply silver edge to a spell immune target.
and yes spell immunity (bkb) blocks both of spectre's passives
|
Both Desolate and Dispersion should be blocked by BKB.
Silver Edge debuff cannot be dispelled but it does not place a debuff on spell immune enemies.
