But what matters most is the way they lost, they looked desperate, lost, no real coordination or map awareness, which in DAC and in other games were their biggest skills, knowing when to and when not, amazing teamfights, be cool in jaws of defeat, etc... They looked like a complete different team.
1 tournament its nothing compared to the big scheme, and who knows they may destroy everyone next tournament, but things will have to change (NO, im not talking about players or disband lol)
Agree. Wake up call for the team.
I just hope they learn from these horrible results and improve for better. So many things wrong in those games (Team MY and Alliance).
The new patch will be a reset, but if they don't iron out the core problems like you said (coordination ,map awareness, be sometimes aggressive early game, strategy ,etc) they will be in a big trouble. They have the potential, 5 incredible talented players, but if they don't mesh as a team and have variety in their draft and style... well that will be a problem.
Also it will be interesting to see how Secret and others teams will behave now with the Dota Majors. Will they work together to improve and get better instead of shuffling fast?
The biggest price that they need to win is to fix those problems and losing is one of the best teachers if you have the correct attitude. They have LANs that can help them to fix those problems (Summit, ESL) before the International so i hope they don't go emo and shit and crumble.
Also Mason did a nice post with interesting stuff about Secret: http://nadota.com/showthread.php?33067-Zai-and-Arteezy-should-have-stayed-with-EG&p=1056948&viewfull=1#post1056948

Pretty cool, but im not sure everything is right, for once most of his stuff is only applicable to this tournament and Secret last month and even that its not a full month... they had some amazing games
which is a pretty minimal time, i would not give an opinion based only 1 tournament, its not fair for anyone
|
Yeah, this tournament could be a fluke, maybe not,but it showed problems that they can analyze and fix. They only have 4 months as a team and if they decide to invest in the long term, i think they will get to a point where they are very strong.

I'm pretty surprised if Zai drafted.

I hope Secret doesn't turn out to be some sort of copy of DK from last year.

They'd have to win something and look like favorites for something first

At least they have that in their favor lol. DK gave us the hope with results only to burn at TI ;_ ;

This will probably be our last Starladder for a while, terrible standards for a 2015 tournament.
I want to write a big angry rant post but instead Its time to grab a drink.
Thank fuck for Dota Majors.

Good tactic, can't lose LANs if you don't attend them.

Well, its not like they will not attend every LAN, so they still have many LANs where they can possibly lose!
And goddam, Secret must be one of the most hated teams right now. Almost every comment in Reddit and other sites is hate hate hate

i thought mason's post was pretty good. regardless if u agree with him or not, i think they are valid points from a spectator's view. still dunno how they could've spent like a month bootcamping in whatever country and still looked so bad at this tournament tho.

hes an american with american interests

They did and they have always problems with money and stuff
Its not an excuse to the performance, but its not the first time a team actually hates on SL

The timing of Cyborgmatt posting that also doesn't help.

I agree with him re: RTZ. RTZ is a great mid carry but only a decent safelane carry. That forces Puppey/Zai to draft around him resulting in stale and one-dimensional drafts. Of course, their loss here at Starladder can be attributed to many other factors (e.g. Zai's underperformance).
I liked the Secret with Kuro on carry alot better. In that iteration, the only weak link was Fly. All they had to do was swap out Fly out for a top tier offlaner and Secret would be a championship contender.

This is honestly the best possible time to lose. I'm sure they were trying their best, but teams are also knowing that the TI patch is coming soon and hitting your stride in a new meta is going to be some renewed focused. They also don't really lose a lot by bombing out as they should still be a TI invite lock.

Keep in mind that we are actually talking about the same team that was 3rd on DAC (TI pretty much)
It baffles me that people would think that they should give up so easily, like really ? Isnt life supposedly to be hard and based on ups and downs ? they had their ups (DAC) and now their dows (SL).
Even Barcelona got rekt by a terrible Chelsea on 2011-2012, when Barcelona was on their prime
