Secret have shown themselves to be a top team in contention for any tournament they enter. Where is this weird expectation coming from that that's somehow a bad thing or that they should clearly be doing better? With the arguable exception of Alliance, utterly dominant teams always get figured out over the course of a tournament and teams get closer to their level. That's not evidence of some deep flaw in their play, it just shows that they're exceptionally strong and can come up with innovative stuff which, shock, people figure out after 20 games, at which point they're left on a more even field.

Secret are fine and will still be challenging for the title at TI5.

Yesterday in stream Arteezy said that he will be moving to Toronto with 1437, if he really does that, it will ease his participation in online.

I think the general point of "concern" is that Secret have fallen to the same thing in several major tournaments now. They bring in something that's fairly innovative and stirs up the meta, dominate in the non-elimination games, and then always fall short of an actual championship because they didn't prepare anything else.

Compared to teams like EG or VG who certainly can be figured out, but have enough versatility that their performance isn't heavily dependent on a few hero picks.
Average means I'm better than half of you.

Pretty sure his favorite part of streaming is making people listen to shit music. Had to tune out the other day when he played some super racist cover of Gangham Style.

I don't know. Young/stupid people tend to have an outsized sense of nationalism. I love my country and everything but there's no question there are many places not in the US I would be happy living, and would happily move to if I had a good professional reason to do so.

Especially when he plans to retire after another couple of years, I don't get the big deal.

Yes he literally used the word "nationalism".

No.

That's why I used nationalism with quotes.

This sounds to me just like your "I always suspected funn1k had a mental issue" bullshit.

Up to you bro. Not gonna serve up a reference sheet every time I say something about a player. Not gonna stop talking about players either.

That's fine "bro", but the shit overflows when you talk about a reference sheet in the abstract sense as a way to validate your speculative drivel.

The shit overflows more when I say something and the usual suspects come around to challenge it just because I'm the one who said it.

I always, always have bases for the things I say. If I choose to share them the same people will tell me my reasoning is inadequate, for totally nebulous reasons. If I don't people will say I'm talking out of my ass.

It's fine and not something I'm going to allow to be my problem.

How the hell am I one of the "usual suspects" when I barely even post here?
I asked you first what were your reasons for saying RTZ won't move to Europe and you went on the defensive, do you honestly expect to not be challenged on your claims when you don't provide support for them?

No, what I expect is for people to keep up on the facts if they want to have a debate. I have zero interest in litigating every statement I make, even less if the person in question apparently isn't even familiar with the basic current information on the subjects in question, which is the case here.

If you want to challenge me, feel free. But I don't owe you anything.

So guys how about we talk about Team Secret?

Really didn't feel like the recent TL article had a lot of substance. It felt like the "counters" to Team Secret's strategy were literally just general dota tips.

Another big weakness lies in the way that Secret relies on their players during certain periods of the game. Earlygame Secret relies heavily on its supports to secure exp and farm on heroes that might struggle in lane versus the enemy team, while in the midgame the team relies on Zai to pave the way for s4 and RTZ to get farm.

I mean these are more or less the default roles, but they're construed here as some kind of weaknesses. Supports secure exp and farm on heroes that might struggle in lane and the offlaner has a big role in the midgame.

There are other examples. It just felt like the first section about their playstyle was a lot more insightful than the second, which focuses on their counters. Really liked the note about how defensively they play in the early game, and their preference for tri-core. What is tri-core, anyway? When does a strong initiator/utility non-carry NOT qualify as a core?

It's a good question. I see people counter discussions of a lineup being 4p1 by saying it's actually dual-core, even if the core's entire job is to make space for the carry. Like you ever have less than two farming heroes on a team.

Not sure if it's a case of people abusing terminology or a lack of comprehension.of what they mean.
