So far, Secret 4.0 has these records below. They only fought Na`Vi, and they lost 1:2 in DotaPit, so they won a game, but lost the match. They participated in ESL Manila, won a match against EHOME 2:0, and lost two matches against Team Empire with 1:4 score. They played in Epicenter recently, lost both of their match against Newbee 0:2 and VP 1:2. After that, they went to lower bracket and got defeated by Alliance 1:2.
Of all these three tournaments, what I can conclude is: 1. They played 7 matches in total, and only managed to win one of them. 2. In these 7 matches, they played a total of 18 games, but only managed to win 6 times.
Honestly speaking, I can collect the statistic of Secret 3.0 and the average stats will definitely be a better one than current Secret. Currently, Secret is at its worst. From what I think, the 'All-stars' method to create a Secret squad doesn't work that well anymore. All four Secret squads have been composed of star player from various teams. Personally, I love Secret 2.0 the most, Secret 3.0 is nice too, they managed to win at Shanghai. At least, Secret 1.0 still able to get some nice achievements. Secret 4.0 has 3 tournaments to proof themselves, but so far, no good bros, no good. If we only expect the 'suddenly doing super well' like in Shanghai, then this team actually won't work at all.

Dotapit was with the old lineup still

it's obvious and tempting to say "all-star" method is flawed, but that is a misjudgment. the actual issue is with peoples' ability to accurately identify good players. the general public is always the last to know a thing.

I'm not too convinced of this "allstar" talk in general. How was the last Secret composed of "star players from various teams"? One can go look at the thread here on LD when that lineup was announced to see the public reaction. Even with this lineup I find it rather silly, given that a lot of the players have played plenty together in the past. It's far from a group of random talented players assembled from different teams, these players have more history together than the previous lineup did for example.
Imo the discussion should more be pointed at what sort of players there are in a team, both in terms of playstyle and personality (though this is obviously hard to evaluate), rather than whether they are "stars" or not. For example, in a bunch of interviews with Secret players they said that w33 was by far the most quiet in the previous team during the game. In a recent interview with Redbull I think EE mentioned that Arteezy tries to take more initiative as far as that goes. But obviously this is not necessarily a positive thing, maybe his ideas clash with what someone else wants to do. At least this far Secret's decision making after the laning phase has looked worse. Maybe they'll fix it with time, maybe they won't.
Though it would be cool if the discussion revolved around what has happened in their matches instead of some reddit stereotypes.

I hardly believe they can suddenly do well at that moment without any Lans or even qualifiers. Sounds familiar. Honestly I feel like the teams are so close to each other that whoever has better day and slightly better draft can win any given tournament, not to mention that scrims are a private affair. Look how many predictions came true during Shanghai - almost none.
Things before Shanghai were disastrous but I still had faith in the previous secret at that time cuz theyve at least proved themselves in Nanyang in MGL and in Frankfort major. On the other hand the 4.0 version only got two disappointing lans. Nevertheless I will still list team secret as the winner in my compendium prediction but to be honest its merely a kind of support this time.

So when are they going to play on lans again? Is Manila the only lan they are going to be playing on in the near future or are there other tournaments they are going to play on, since i dont see their name on esl.

Only Manila now. They think streaming on panda TV is enough to make them the best team in the world

After Manila there's NYC also at least. Not sure if they'll be at Summit or SL, not looking likely.
|
So are we all confident Secret will defend their title at Manilla?
OK, well, not really confident - but I think there's a good chance!
|
I find it hard to say anything with confidence. I think people being sure of Secret placing low are silly, but it's also hard to have a reason for why they would win or something without inside info.
My feeling is pretty much the same as it was for the old team going into Shanghai. I won't be that surprised if they bomb out early, but I won't really be surprised either if they end up being the best team in the tournament.
|
What is for certain is that they're either gonna win it or not.
|
I think Secret gonna be strong at Manila Major... Probably not a crazy call, but ppy, pld and uni gonna deliver, up to rtz and ee to make the right decitions later on and secure the win. If they do bad, its either ee or rtz whos gonna be at fault I think. Excited to see them again after a month of training and chemistry building

where are all our fanboys at. time for the ee rtz combo to shine once again. believeeee. and even if you dont believe we still have clement
|
They have had time to train and try to find better team dynamic. I hope they show up with fresh confidence and drafts. Good training for TI in couple of months!

I belive! I expect great dota from team Secret at the Major!

Hoping for EG / Secret grand finals.

I can't believe how short of a memory everyone seems to have. Secret lost just about every series between Frankfurt and Shanghai, and won Shanghai anyway. Most people in the group reveal thread are saying Secret won't advance from the group...like come on

I have a feeling they will either go all the way to the grand finals or will bomb out immediately, no middleground like placing 4-8 or sth
|
I think it's understandable that people doubt Secret, them rising to the occasion once doesn't mean that it will happen again.
Though what I find a bit silly is some writing off Secret completely. I think we'll get a pretty good indication in the groups already. If Secret look strong, I think they'll end up being very strong until the end and will be a very hard team to go up against in the playoffs. But at this point it's also possible that they will be relatively weak and crumble early on, hard to say.
I think at Shanghai the panel picked against Secret every series until the finals. Interesting to see how it goes this time if they show decent form in groups..
