It's always iffy to extrapolate too much from these things, but I feel xboct does come off like a pretty big diva in this interview.

This might be one of the first xboct interviews I've heard... and the normal sentiment towards xboct does seem like that but I think he's quite aware of his own actions. His comments about the mistake of being in Kiev was pretty much him owning up to his own personal shortcomings towards the team's boot camping. Also I think xboct also pretty much owning up to the previous captains not having 'respect.' He wasn't calling out anything the previous captains may have lacked (skill/determination wise), but more of something the rest of the team simply wasn't giving. I think to a certain extent that you could say even he's a bit "burned out." I'll admit that I've never done something at as high a level as his Dota, but the mentality of whether to continue depending on winning or losing seems a bit... questionable. I don't think the team will magically "play better" (yes Na'vi does have a history of making magic happen), but all in all, I feel like the desire to improve is playing second fiddle to winning. He does talk about majors being that spiritual motivation, and perhaps personal/team improvement is the mental motivation and I'm just talking even more out of my ass.

That was an inaccurate translation, he said that previous captains lacked "authority", not "respect". So yeah, you are right that it was about players not having enough faith in their captain, rather than him lacking some qualities.

Thanks, that sounded really weird as I read the interview, I thought of something like it but confirming it is a good thing. Who would you ban for this Bo1 if you were NaVi? I would ban for sure BH, NS and Dazzle, should think harder for the last two.

XBOCT is usually very self-aware person.

At least they played relatively well, but it's still sad. People like to say that Na'Vi have a lot of tournament experience, etc, but I think that they lost it because of the nerves.

Also Funn1k was DAC-level bad again. Sad, cus it really looked like Na'Vi could have done it all the way until the end... kind of like many of their group stage losses, I guess -_-

With everything else in the game being the same, had Dendi bought a refresher instead of the random pb followed by blink+travels with 2k+ in bank, he had a 10+ minute window where he would be able to instantly kill any of the 3 VG's cores and AM would have been more than enough to clean up the rest. Still sad for the loss but if they can keep up motivation I think they can improve more for the upcoming majors.

I like all the guys and always hope for problems/whatever to be solved but this time I expect one or two of the older players to leave. Navis cs squad improved a lot when they acquired flamie, guardian and seized over the years and zerogravity might have that in mind when looking at the squad in preparation for the upcoming majors.

The game was on Hvost's support. Ya he did die with some awful timing but he made so much space that the rest of his team did NOTHING with. Dendi bought BoTs, then sat in trees (?) Artstyle gave away Weave multiple times, for no reason when he was going to die anyway. (And being out of position, alone. W/ no wards even.) Funn1k died early but he was too far behind w/o any help. Hvost and Sonniko was the only saving grace for them and there was 0 chance Hvost was going to out carry Luna/SF/QoP.
