Interesting stuff:

envy doesn't like drafting cause he doesn't like the responsibility of it .. he prefers that somebody else drafted and that's what always happens at the start is they have a designated drafter like notail or fata or pld but later on it doesn't work out and he is forced to draft for the team. (basically he's doing like the burning role in drafting back on DK days where if they need somebody to solidly draft he is forced to draft). He also says in the previous it was the carry patch so all he has to do was draft for lategame and everything is fine however in the new patch he says he's clueless how to draft on the carry perspective that's why they had to switch up. He also thinks he's not a great drafter it just ends up that way all the time where he has to draft for the team.

Envy's answer to the difference between the c9 with PLD+aui and notail+misery. Is that the new roster is less emo and higher individual skill however the new roster has problems is that back on the old roster he believes that Aui and him had similar thinking towards the lategame. And what happens is that whenever envy starts leading the team lategame (cause he's the carry) whenever somebody objects Aui would just go "stfu just listen to envy" basically Aui has faith on envy's lategame calls however on the new team nobody has ever done that for him so in the lategame except for bone7 but he would only say that after the game he would go like "you guys should just listen to envy".

Also envy blogs are getting to the point where even MDL tournament organizers ask him if the tournament is handled well and shit.

I wonder if they even need a standin. Like if they just forfeit every match for the seeding tournament does it matter? no one gets eliminated, and realistically, none of the top teams are going to choose c9 anyway.

It's kind of silly of ESL to say he can't play from online when the matches actually don't really matter that much.

The best part is that the seeding tournament is double elim like a real tournament but is 100% irrelevant and as soon as ur playing games that matter its back to retarded single elim xd

Yeah, they could have used the extra days to run a double elim, and played out the first round of the upper bracket off stage, play the rest of the matches on stage.

C9 probably doesnt mind this format though, since they don't have bone7 for the first few days.

bone7 probably wouldn't have booked the dentist appointments like this if the tournament was longer. If I understood the situation correctly the seeding tournament was relatively short notice and many players only found out about it whenever it was announced publicly. I think they originally assumed that the tournament starts on Saturday so he would have time to get it over with. Of course he probably could have rescheduled, but who knows when the next slot would have been for him and at the very least it would have been after ESL and then it interrupts c9's preparations for TI.

But missing the seeding matches doesn't even seem like that big of a deal. Of course it would be nice for c9 if they could face Alliance or something in the quarter finals, but who knows what order the teams will be in after a few bo1 games.

I can understand seeding being very important for a single elim tournament, but what I don't understand is how does anyone think that doing a bo1 double elim bracket is a better way to do seeding than using the results of every tournament of the past 6 months or whatever. Assuming the bracket is right in Liquipedia (the double elim bracket isn't played until the end, wb finalists are the top2 seeds), you only need to win 2xbo1 to guarantee a top2 seed.

I mean getting a good seeding might very well be the difference between facing Secret/EG in the first round and finishing bottom 4, vs beating Alliance/VP in the first round and finishing top 4.

Single elim is just a terrible format.

A good seed helps, but the difference whether c9 is 5th-8th or 3rd-4th isn't that big imo, have to beat top teams to reach the finals anyway. And my point was that even if you do decently in the seeding event there's no guarantee that you will actually get a favorable opponent first round. The bracket is all bo1 and who knows how much each team cares, so we may see some pretty random results.

Anyway it seems that Pas is standing in for c9 in the seeding event.

The top 3 seeds get to pick their opponents out of 5-8, right? Plus, there are 3 teams in this tournament that are clearly weaker than the rest (Alliance, Fnatic, and VP; although they are certainly capable of upsetting some of the stronger teams). Even if C9 doesn't make the top 3, it's highly unlikely that they would get picked, so they would end up playing the 4th seed anyways.

Basically, it's either 1-3 or bust. 4-8 doesn't really matter.
