This patch is insane. Basically 8.00 or Dota 3 in all but name. Valve trying to ensure Dota also gets the CS2 treatment.

So basically the "lore" of this patch is: Radiant and Dire destroyed their Ancients at the same time and that unbelievable event triggered an epic earthquake, that changed the landscape! :D

I've read peoples' comments that Valve wrote the TF2 blogs and patch notes like this, so maybe taking a cue from those.

I find lighthearted to quite accurately reflect how I feel about the style, yeah that fits it nicely from my perspective.

"Let's be honest, 99.9% of dota players are bad" lol That's the kind of refreshing honesty that we don't often see from our media overlords

Dota has traditionally used a modified version of the Elo algorithm to implement Rank and Rank Confidence changes. But over time we've noticed a few problems with our approach. For one example, the distribution of MMRs has gradually shifted lower, causing an undesired clumping in the 0-1000 MMR range. Another problem was that players who took a break and returned were having a hard time getting back to an accurate MMR, because their previous skill level was no longer representative. Valve confirms the Trench is real.

Have played a few games, and greedy as fuck supports seem okay, because the map is too big to choke out, you and your core just play evasive, farm up, and win later. Not looking forward to it if that IS good, pos5 farming alche games sound amusing at first but 5 games in I'll be over it. At least for now that is the exact opposite of what is happening. Game is nothing but one long brawl it seems with the reduced vision on the map/many approaches to ganks and the teleporters. Also, I just want this damn game to calibrate me. I took like a month off of the game prior to the patch so I came in at 0% confidence and am only getting 1-2% per game. ![]()
