interesting, I randomly got into the diablo 3 ros beta too (yes I did click on the beta preference but just didn't expect being able to play in it seeing that I didn't get in for sc2 ptr).
didn't really expect it at all since I was a casual Diablo 3 player who gave up after too much lag issue and only to start playing again recently to try out other class.

edit: oh wait, never mind, this is only the PTR

Just got in the beta, excited to try it out when I get home. Is there anything I should try/do? I want to make a crusader, but I imagine 99% of the players in are playing one as well right now.

Without the auction house though it doesn't matter what everyone else is doing because you'll get your own gear instead of having to worry about supply/demand and strength gear being overpriced.

Got my first real play time with the game and had a lot of fun with it. I'm leveling a crusader from 1 (with paragon levels and crafted gear) on the "expert" difficulty and had a ball. Found a 2 handed legendary sword at around lvl 12, thought "man I want to use this," then saw the passive that lets you use a 2 handed weapon and shield. The butcher dropped another legendary upgrade for me. I feel like the increased legendaries give you a better sense of progression and "story" for your character. Makes it feel a lot more rewarding.

I'm also doing act 5 with monk and dh (my 60s from d3), but haven't played them as much. I haven't really gotten into the meat of the "endgame" yet, but I have a 3 day weekend coming up, so I'm hoping to get into that then.

Overall, I'm pretty impressed with the changes. The difficulty changes are a huge improvement, (the crusader is at lvl 20 at the start of act 2). I can see being very close to 70 in one play through. The crusader also seems to have a lot of play-styles available (from melee kind of like barb, to super tanky, to basically a "caster" hammerdin thing). Right now I'm optimistic about the game, but the real test is if I'll still want to play it at release.

It depends on how they separate expansion/non-expansion play. If there completely separate then you only get it with the expansion. Otherwise I expect a patch a few weeks prior to expansion release.

Lame. I'm a bit on the fence when it comes to buying the exp pack and I was going to finalise my decision based on how they implemented Paragon 2.0 :/ Had high hopes about it being out already based on what they do with WoW expansions.

Besides that even the D3 page on battle.net talks about the 2.0 PTR so you know there is a pre expansion patch.

Well, I took the time to read this today, and I found it very sad that even the Blizzard MVP's have lost hope for the game and cancelled their pre-orders after more than 100 hours on the beta.

These guys have been playing since the Friends & Family release, it is quite a long read, but it addresses nearly all of the issues of RoS and the list is very long and well made... and there is too much work for even a quarter of what is addressed there to be solved before release..
