I played D2 classic for a very long time. Hammerdins are extremely potent without teleport or charge. But i agree with the rest of your post, it doesn't seem that viable in D3. If hammers don't go through wall, it can be extremely annoying against waller elites

Without skill points we have plenty of other skills you can get for those times that hammerspam isn't effective. I'm not saying it will be as powerful as in D2 but it could definitely be viable.

No more AH, not even RMAH? Amazing!!!! Now that pushes my desire to play the expansion a LOT.

I wonder how blizzard intends to monetize the game now though, since its quite apparent that SC2 is their last game ever to have the traditional "pay once" model. Hell, LotV may not even follow that.

Well, it isn't mandatory that they monetize the game, so we'll just have to wait and see if they do. They could just do something akin to LoL skins/cosmetic bonuses.

Hopefully, I'm mostly playing solo anyway and don't care if other guys run around looking really flashy. Anyway, I believe with Loot 2.0 you're going to have much less desire to trade as much as before and won't miss the AH as much. I heard you find a lot more items for your desired stats.

I heard you find a lot more items for your desired stats. that apparently is their thought (your second point). Q. How will the removal of the gold and real-money auction house affects changes planned for itemization in Reaper of Souls, specifically “Loot 2.0”? One of the main goals behind Loot 2.0, which is being developed concurrently with Reaper of Souls, is to make playing the game the most rewarding path to getting items. That goal has not changed with this decision, and in fact was one of the big inspirations behind the removal of the auction houses. We’re still moving forward with all the changes previously revealed as part of Loot 2.0, but we’re also looking at additional improvements we can make that will help ensure that the loot hunt and trading experience in Diablo III is as satisfying as possible.

I really don't think the auction house was intended to be a big profit thing for them, they legitimately thought it would make the game better and instead the gold one really damaged the structure of the game. Not sure I like them getting rid of the real money one though.

Yes, with loot 2.0 things would get better, but even so it will still inflate the prices, and there are too many flaws to the system. It is very difficult to fix.
