5th: does these statements only count for WW or does it count for every 2 one hand build
Thanks for your help!
Blurb about why high dps mainhand and low dps offhand, from some dude on some forums:
+ Show Spoiler +Sprint tornadoes are your main source of damage. It's damage is only based on your main hand damage. Whirlwind / bash / frenzy ect do alternate between main and offhand. So your offhand damage only affects skills that don't contribute anywhere near the damage tornadoes do. Their use isn't so much for damage as either generating fury or positioning yourself to place a tornado or proccing loh / life steal. So that is why he chose an offhand with such low damage but high str / high crit damage and a socket to add more crit damage to boost the damage of his tornadoes and in his case...rend. Even though crit damage doesnt affect rend its damage is only based on mainhand damage.
Weapon Master says it applies to the main hand in the description, doesn't it?
I -think- that any stat that doesn't directly modify the dps of that particular weapon counts towards both weapons (With the exception of the +0.xx attacks per second unique stat, which applies to both) so +180 str on the offhand would increase your dps, but +180-300 poison damage wouldn't.
+ Show Spoiler +Also worth mentioning is that the IAS on your dagger is only applied to the dagger. IAS on armour applies to both weapons, but any on your weapon(s) will only apply to that weapon.
@Life on hit and lifesteal: Lifesteal is reduced 80% in inferno. Life on hit is determined by the skill you're using's coefficient. There's a table that shows diff coefficients, but I'm not sure it's 100% accurate :D http://i.imgur.com/57kGJ.png
Last question : It only counts for builds using skills that use the mainhand dps to determine damage. Whirlwind is NOT one of those skills, but Sprint - run like the wind IS.

A little bit of truth about "Run Like the Wind" rune that I feel like sharing.
My wife sees me playing my new barb, while he sprints leaving tornadoes behind, and she says: "This is indeed you! Leaving farts wherever you go!". So I say: "No, those are deadly tornadoes, they kill things". And she says: "So do your farts!"

You should aim to keep your dps fairly close to your main hand, and if it has a damage mod attempt to get maximum/minimum damage over elemental damage. It has been tested and the offhand dps accounts for approximately 30% of your dps as a ww barb. Source and a good guide for WW barbs : http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=65248733&f=142

8k armor, 700 AR, %70 block rate, 59k hp.
Means nothing in PvP.
|
Yeah after the 1.07 blog I had the impression that they did literally NOTHING to balance PvP, even for the most basic stuff like DR and CC management. Let's see how it goes in PTR but I don't think they'll do major changes now when they had months to think about the obvious.
Oh well, I guess I'm going to play just some "blue gear only" PvP or something like that (one hour farm, then wear what you got... seems fun).

But there are people with 200+k HP, and that much armor and resistances.
10 million EHP isn't trivial in PvP.

Hi, maybe someone can help me here. I'm really having problems upgrading my WW gear.
I have a budget of around 10 Million Gold at the moment. But for that much all I can find is sidegrades, or maybe 2k DPS for >5 Million gold. I'd like to not sacrifice too much of my EHP while upping my DPS which is at around 50k at the moment without WotB.
I know the weapons aren't optimal and my crit chance is too low for a normal WW build. I found the two set weapons and so I kept them. The thing is, even for 10 million gold i don't find weapons that bring me much of a damage boost, because I'd lose the set bonus and attack speed bonus. I can't afford to lose the life on hit as well. I get more from the crit hit damage that I'd get from a CD + Socket weapon, and 10% crit chance bonus from weapons master as well. But doing calculations it's at most a gain of 5k for all the money I have.
On other slots it's difficult as well. I contemplated the IK helmet, which would reduce my all resist by a big amount, but I think the 9% melee damage reduce I'd gain would probably be worth it. It has a good amount of strength and gives me 5% crit. Other option maybe a mempo if I save some more? They are really expensive however.
Surely something can be done, but I'm a bit lost on what to do. Up until this point it was easy to get nice upgrades for a few million gold at most.
Here's my armory profile: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/TratoS-1351/hero/96926
Advice would be much appreciated

Your budget is enough to replace your entire gear. Your chest is almost worthless, so how can you think that you can't improve with 10 million? A few pages ago we talked a lot about low budget barbs, so take a look at my posts.
In general: very low cc and strenght, but you can sacrifice a bit of vitality.
Helm: terrible. :D Search for Andariel with low fire damage and one between vit/socket/res/life%.
Amulet: I don't think you need loh there, usually IK belt + passive or a weapon with ls/loh is enough. Search for 200str and 8%cc, you can probably afford some +damage too.
Shoulders are ok I guess.
Chest and bracers: search for a good Tyrael's Might with vit or sockets or life%. So you can replace your Lacuni and gain cc for very few gold. Strongarm Bracers are fine, I don't recall the prices but I think you can add vitality or 30-40res for less than a million.
Gloves and belt are good.
Rings: search for strenght, 4.5cc and ias. You can probably add +damage on top of that for around a million gold.
Pants and boots are terrible too. Search for pants with str, 180vit, 70res and 2 sockets (or no sockets but high strenght). Then Firewalkers with 220str/60vit or the cheapest IK boots.
At this point you need a mace/axe in mainhand and a fast offhand with loh/ls and socket/cd (possibly both). For 2-3millions IIRC you can buy a 900dps Echoing Fury with str and socket/cd. I know that you're going to lose the set bonus, but the 10%cc from Weapons Master is so much better.

Wondering if anyone can help me taking the right path with my Barb.
Profile is: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/nekovivie-2654/hero/3148418
Obvious standout upgrade is the weapon, but getting a good DPS echoing fury with a socket is really out of my price range.
I have another 100% CD gem in my stash, so that's not an issue. I just can't find a bargain EF with +0.24-25aps and OS over 1100.
Anything else on the gear that screams out "upgrade me, brother!"?

Hey guys.
Coming back after a break from D3 and I don't really know what I should be upgrading first, or if I'm still doing this build right. I have read that the double tornado build is still effective, just not as effective as it was.
I have a couple questions. First off it is my understanding that the place I should be farming is Act 3 inferno on MP 0, is that accurate? I'm most interested in drops than anything else as I need money and gear but paradigm lvls is nice too.
Should I be picking up all rares or skipping certain ones? Just legendary stuff?
As well please take a look at my gear and tell me what I should be upping first, and if possible what stats I should be looking for in the upped gear. FYI the chest I have in the bank is like 75 STR, 90 Vit, 8% Life, 70AR, just used the goldskin for kicks last night.
Anyway here is my link, any advice is appreciated!
I have about 4.8 mill.

You have a bit too low vitality. I know it's due to Inna's pants (to be fair I never liked 'em), but since you have a lot of vit on helm, jewelry, ring, gloves... it'll be hard to replace them. Your Unity for example is easily replaceable, but you can't give away 84vit.
What's your budget?

I have about 4.8 mill. http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Smooth-1531/hero/3020849 Act 3, google for "Alkaizer run". For your current gear MP0 is inevitable.
Pick up legendaries, then rare weapons, jewelry and gloves regardless of ilvl. Emeralds and rubies. Rare armor pieces only if you end up your typical run with a lot of free space in your inventory.
As for your gear, I would keep maaaybe shoulders, left ring, and pants. Everything else is replaceable with little effort (see my previous posts).
You need cc, so as I said before... Andariel's Visage, Tyrael's Might (for movement speed) and Strongarm Bracers. Then I would get 2 or 3 Immortal King's pieces, like belt (170+ str, 100k on EU) and/or boots (1M) and/or gloves (170+ str, 150k). Unity (150+ str) for your right ring, so between this and IK belt you can probably give up loh on you amulet and get one with 200+ str and 8-10%cc. Keep in mind that all these legendaries have one or two random affixes, so sift carefully through the cheapest you find in AH and get the random roll that's most valuable for you. These are often undervalued: armor, %life, reduced melee or ranged damage, life regeneration, single resistances.
Edit: I forgot to mention that you may want an Hellfire Ring. You need someone to carry you through MP6+ though.

Cheapest IK boots - 1.4 million Cheapest IK Helm - 800,000
You can net out on all your other stats basically with the 2-pc 60-all resist bonus, but pick up 5% crit on your helm.
Also.... 200,000 gold for a Sunkeeper on your Templar. That's 11 points of magic find. If you run with the Enchantress then the cheapest Grand Vizer is 700,000. Same thing...11-12 points of magic find you gain.

500m or so, if necesary. An IK chest with 200+ VIT is on my shopping list, which will definitely push up the survivability.
I'm on the hunt for some ice climbers with nice VIT too, +10-12% life will definitely help.
Also RE: the Inna's, I didn't want to give up the movespeed, only other option is getting Lacunis but they're pretty pricey if you want ones with crit and allres, and vit or str.

I know but in my experience we lose too much with Inna's pants in comparison to rare pants with strenght, 70res 250vit and 2 sockets + Lacuni with maybe str cc and armor (which was my previous setup, now I'm using Blackthorne pants with 70res and 2 sockets). I play at MP5 though, so I need more EHP than usual.
Anyway, IK chest has probably the most potential, 100vit at least. Then, when you're confortable with ~40k hp, I would replace your Unity to gain some dps.
You can easily gain ~50str on the belt. As for your weapons, there is a dagger with 160str and 98%cd (+socket) in AH, you may want to take a look at it.

Do you have any recommendations for a replacement to the unity?
What should I aim for stats wise? It has a lot of average damage on it.
|
I'm going to preface this by saying I have 100% no idea what I'm doing. I like the build that I'm using right now, but if I'm doing it wrong any kind of direction would be appreciated. In the mean time I'm going to go back through the thread and see what useful info I can pick out.

I don't really have any money either, but an idea of what I should be saving up for would be nice.

Average damage is nice and usually undervalued in AH due to how it scales with weapon damage. Furthermore, Unity is a fantastic ring for its bonus against elites, so my first suggestion is to search for another Unity with more offensive stats: ias, cd, 200+ str, or more average damage (yeah, it can roll +MinDamage or +MaxDamage and sometimes these are bugged, so some unity display only the 5 fixed properties).
Ias is the most valuable for sprint-WW (after cc), but it's very, I mean VERY expensive on Unity. So you should check first if you need more ias for the next breakpoint (http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/4902400739).
If you don't need loh you should check some Wailing Host with similar stats. Rare rings may provide higher dps on paper, but that bonus against elites is hard to replace.

Thanks man.
I'll see if I can get VIT elsewhere and then look for a better unity.
Appreciate the guidance

You have half the hp you need, low resistances, almost no cc and your gear is practically worthless.
