should look up some vods from that cdxliv guy. from what i recall, he builds budget sets very often and explains his thought process pretty clearly. here's one that fits your needs: http://www.twitch.tv/cdxliv/c/1747923

I pretty much changed every single item using that video as a guide. I spent 10 million and went from 30k dps to 54k. 35k HP to 31k. LoH stayed around the same and my crit chance and crit damage went up a lot.

There are some minor tweaks that make the difference. Andariel's Visage with a socket costs 2-5mil, but a low geared barb will put an amethyst in it... so the next try is vitality, right? Well, I got an Andy with 12% life instead (and 8% fire damage) for 150k. In fact, life% may be A LOT cheaper. Strongarm Bracers are very inexpensive, so you have to be smart with the random roll. Allres is expensive, so if you want to raise the EHP you may find that 4-6% reduced melee or ranged damage (some of you may remember that those were valuable stats back in pre-1.03) is almost free. As is life regeneration, or a specific resistance (like, fire res to compensate Andy). For jewelry, cc+cd or cc+ias combo may be costly, but cc+30 average damage comes at a much lower price for the same or better dps increase. Fire walkers, if allres is too much try for +armor. Chest and pants, try different combinations of str/vit and 1-2-3 sockets. And so on. I think a proper guide for low budget barbs should cover things like these. ![]()

And you're wrong: for low geared barbs, killing speed is the limiting factor while ms is relatively less important and more build-related. Anyway, the proof of what I'm saying is our friend SearingShadow who dropped to 31k hp following that "guide", since it doesn't address the most basic principles of gearing. By buying a cheap Tyrael's Might you lose 200+ vitality from a rare chest or equivalent (Blackthorne). Which can be fine... if you are guided on how to compensate.

also, what's your definition of low-geared barb? i was referring to the one you listed; 70k dps, 50k hp, 500 AR. at 70k dps, kill speed is not the limiting factor on mp1. everything melts in one "round" of RLTW/WW and that's not even factoring wrath. is your 70k inflated by a high damage off hand?

I have nothing against Tyrael's Might (except for its ugliness), in fact I love it. I just said that if a guide doesn't explain some basic principles (like, where a given prop costs less, what are the thresholds for keeping the price low, what is usually undervalued etc) it's very easy to make that kind of mistakes. Saying "go buy a Tyrael's" is not enough to me, i like to explain that the random roll is key - in those 50 equally priced Tyrael's there is at least one with, for example, 300 armor that gives enough EHP to not care about AR on your Fire Walkers, so you can choose vitality instead. It's just an example but I hope you get my point.

I read about the Chaz build that could supposedly do upwards of around 100m xp/hr with super godly gear but I couldn't get it working right. Do any barbs here use the Chaz build for farming or another build that would increase my xp/hr? Thanks! <3

I don't know too much about item prices, but I managed to trade my friend gold in another game, for D3 gold. I'm mostly just trying to avoid getting ripped off, or buying the wrong items. Any advice/help is very welcome! Thanks!

I had been using 3 piece cain's set as well but after some testing I get about 5m more xp/hr without it. I read about the Chaz build that could supposedly do upwards of around 100m xp/hr with super godly gear but I couldn't get it working right. Do any barbs here use the Chaz build for farming or another build that would increase my xp/hr? Thanks! <3 I've done the build, it farms at a very consistent speed which is quite nice, though I still believe that ideally a WotB build is faster if you are able to maintain it. Anyhow, the idea is to stack leap+overpower with rend and WW to nearly one-shot elites on mp0, this way you can keep moving through the map with constant sprinting and minimal interruption. A heavy 2 hander works best with this concept, though it's doable with dual wield if you have good weapons. In terms of XP, I got maybe 70-75 mil/hour with it, whereas with most of my other builds I get about 60-80 mil, depending on things like monster density which leads to better/worse wotb uptime. So, as I said, it's consistently strong, but I don't consider it overwhelmingly better than other efficient farming builds. Personally I get bored of the exact same run too many times in a row, so I frequently change-up my build/MP level. If you want to try perma-wotb on mp0/mp1, you can try this build: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#ZPRcUQ!ZhY!YcYabY HotA thunderstrike has a large AOE on kill which can proc into the fray for a massive amount of fury generation. This makes it far better for keeping up WotB compared to WW. If you run this build with high attack speed, dual wield and -rend on your belt, you can run around casting rend to kill clumps of enemies and move around at +94% movespeed provided you can keep wotb up. You can also go with RLTW instead of marathon if you're concerned about killing all the trash or don't want to spam rend to kill trash. if you want to focus on pure paragon levelling, run keeps 2 only in all your +XP gear (Cain's, Leorics, Hellfire, Ruby) while skipping elites. Use a permazerker build with a mighty weapon and rend to help kill trash. I've gotten 80-90 mil/hour with this method, and that's without a Leoric's ring. The downside is that you're not farming items at all this way.

I strongly doubt anyone can build a barb around 13m that is going to do a good run on mp8-_- meaning with 10m, you can build a set that can survive and slowly kill shit in mp10 (1-2 min for elites as opposed to the usual 20-30s for higher geared players). mp8+ in general is never going to be a "good run" because the bonuses you get from higher mps are mediocre compared to the hp gain. i believe the highest dps wizard in the world only farms mp6
