There are a few peculiarities with the Sprint+WW build in terms of weapon choice: Sprint's damage comes from the MAINHAND only. However, its attack speed alternates depending on what weapon was swung last (bash, auto-attack, and whirlwind will all cause your weapons to swing) - this means that it is actually possible for a mace to have the same attack speed as a dagger. Effectively, the larger the attack speed disparity of your weapons, the greater the damage boost you will receive. A fast offhand helps with the build, because half of the time your sprint is going to be using it's attack speed. IAS is good because faster attacks mean more crits, and more crits means more fury. It also improves the benefit you get from LOH. Both my weapons swing at greater than 2.0 attack speed, and it feels really good. Mace vs Axe for mainhand is going to come down to personal preference. A mainhand mace will generally do more damage than an axe... but you get less fury. I particularly love keeping my WOTB going for huge amounts of time, and I found this noticeably harder to do than with my axe (1.44 speed). The 20k+ sprint crits did help make up for that, though :D

I just wonder how much the +few hundred max damage that 2 Handers have compared to the best 1 handers makes of a difference. Don't have any gold to buy a good 2 Hander right now. I've tried it out, and personally I found it very.... clunky. It is actually functional, and the big numbers are fun, but when I swap back to my standard weapons it's clear the two hander is not nearly as effective. You would definitely swap out the standard WOTB rune for insanity, because it's near impossible to keep it going for much longer than the 15 seconds. EDIT: also, please please please do not look to max damage as a tool for judging a weapon. It is an extremely poor (and sometimes misleading) metric. Let's look at two fictional weapons: Weapon A: 1.2 attack speed max damage: 1500 min dmg: 500 Weapon B: 1.2 attack speed max damage: 1200 min dmg: 900 Which weapon is better? Why, weapon B of course. Weapon A's AVERAGE attack will strike for 1000 damage, but weapon B's AVERAGE attack will strike for 1050 damage. Given that their attack speeds are the same, this means that weapon B will do greater DPS, and most attacks will hit harder, too. It's true that weapon A will sometimes give you bigger numbers, but it will actually be doing less damage overall. This example isn't actually that contrived; sometimes the damage 'spread' of weapons are different, so it's something that does happen (I've seen it catch a lot of people in WoW out, too). Don't use max damage. Don't even bother looking at it. Look at DPS and attack speed. Max damage can only give the vaguest of hints at the potential for a weapon; DPS and attack speed actually tell you the full story.

Do the tornados and WW tick that much slower?

I'm not able to play to test this out so assisting knowledge would be much appreciated!

Two handers aren't that much more DPS either, given how the mechanics of sprint works. Eg, let's say you're using a mainhand mace, with 1.2 speed, and a 1.5 dagger offhand. Half of the time your mace is going to be using the attack speed of your offhand; this means that your sprints will do 12.5% more damage overall. Furthermore, factor in that dual wielding gives you a 15% attack speed boost. This should mean that you would be doing ~29% more damage. This means if you were to use a 1200 DPS mace mainhand, you could actually consider its DPS to be somewhere in the region of 1552 DPS, for the purposes of sprint.

I'm not able to play to test this out so assisting knowledge would be much appreciated! The fury gained by weapons master depends on the proc coefficient of your attack. This varies greatly between attacks. From the top of of my head, I THINK that sprint has a 20% proc coefficient, and whirlwind has ~13%. This means that if you have 1000 LOH, your sprint tornadoes will only give you 200 per strike. If you are using a weapon with a 20% proc chance on hit, and using sprint, it will only proc on 4% of attacks. The same rules apply to weapon's master + mighty weapon. For it to be effective, that extra rage you gained would have to contribute significant extra damage to compensate for the loss of damage due to not using a different weapon type (and I just don't believe it is). Additionally, factor in situations where you are at full fury; other weapon types will still be gaining utility, but might weapons will not. For this reason, weapons master + mighty weapons just aren't as good as other options.

Let me put it this way; I bought bracers with a great stats for a bargian price a while ago. One of the extra stats on them was 4% knockback chance. They have been replaced. Let's just say I'm not in a hurry to try out that mace :D EDIT: on the subject of legendaries, I tried out the legendary 1H axe, with the "chance to smite", as it dropped for a friend and I was able to have a loan of it. The smite itself is ok (~20k damage, if I remember correctly), but because the proc coefficients are so low on ww/sprint I don't believe it's worth the money for this build. Better to just grab a 'normal' weapon with better stats or more DPS. EDIT2: to elaborate further: the reason why that fear proc, or the knockback proc are so terrible is because you try to surround your enemies in tornadoes to do maximum damage. A chance for your enemy to immediately vacate your damage zone is really harmful, even when the chance is fairly low.

http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/jan-2432/hero/18629105 I'm newly dinged 60, and I used the 1-Million-To-Act-3-Guide for ... guidance. That worked better than expected, as I was actually able to progress trough Act 3, albeit not being able to kill Ghom. I realize she's a mess right now, still you might give me some tips on what to replace first and what will make the playstyle a little smoother. I still struggle with evasive range-mobs, shielding mobs and treasure goblins (I've never downed one in Act 3). Thank you so much, k.

You're just listing the enemy types that this build has problems with! :D Evasive ranged mobs, shielding mobs and treasure goblins are all a bit of a pain in the butt for us ww+sprint barbs. Treasure goblins will be impossible until your DPS is much higher so don't stress about them for the moment. What went wrong with Ghom? Try leading him out of his poison clouds occasionally, so he hurts less. I believe your current gear should be good enough to pretty much beat inferno ![]() My biggest piece of advice is to grab a COLD weapon, for your mainhand, to use when fighting pesky ranged mobs that try to run away from you. I can't recommend this enough. To emphasise how much this helps, I genuinely switch from a 1050 DPS weapon to a 750 DPS cold weapon in those circumstances, because it really does make that much of a difference. Apart from that, your gear is looking not too bad. What is your budget? As a route to improving your character, I would recommend: #1: Replace your rings with rings that have +LOH on them. This will be necessary, because you are going to want to.... #2: Replace your mainhand weapon. Ignore crit damage and LOH (you're on a budget), and just go and get an axe or mace with as much raw DPS as possible. 80%+ of your damage as this spec is channelled through your mainhand weapon, and it's crucially important that it's high DPS. A ~1000 DPS weapon with absolutely no stats will give you substantially more damage than you do now. As a last note - your belt is looking rather shiny. Can you describe the 'shock pulse' proc? That looks very nice to me...

That proc seems really strangely powerful. I can't be certain about the damage values, but with my gear, they seem to crit for like 15k AOE damage and proc extremely frequently. Do you know Charge Bolt from Diablo 2? It seems to work in the same fashion. I'm looking for a nice Cold Weapon now and I just purchased a really nice LoH/Crit/STR/Vit Ring.

For 1 billion gold you can do whatever the hell you want. That works out as ~77 million gold per item slot, which means you can buy the best in slot items - in every slot. You're going to have to be pretty fricking awesome at farming to regain that kind of money though ![]() EDIT: just did a google for "whirlwind barbarian build", and the very first entry is the thread with stockpiles of information about it. Come on guys, try a bit harder.
