Started playing again and just playing around with skills. Got a few upgrades at a reasonable price and now I'm sitting at 50k HP, 6000 armor, 700 all res and 57k DPS, 28% crit, 146% crit damage.
I'm still mainly playing Hydra/Blizzard based. I've played around with the other hydras and can't really decide between arcane and lightning. Arcane has some nice AoE damage, but lightning never misses since the spark is instant and apparently it can arc to up to 2 additional enemies. So if I could find an item boosting my lightning damage I'd stick to lightning. This also would be beneficial since I'm playing around with Electrocute now as well.
Edit: Storm Crow looks nice, though it has quite a low max INT roll (100), but it has +7-8% lightning damage, LOH, bonus dmg vs. elite

Sadly my finances aren't that good lately since I bought a lot of other upgrades, but if I can afford it I might look into doing a lightning damage boosted build and try how that works out.

Hey, I just started playing again, few old questions though:
-Does disintegrate crit at all? Or only with chaos nexus rune (as only with it you have yellow crit dmg shown)? -Does disintegrate benefits from attack speed at all? I have almost 1.80 attack speed and I don't know which spells besides arcane orb/primary skills benefits from it.
I've been playing with AO+Piercing Orb+ Arcane/Frost Hydra/Blizzard/Archon (for the lolz), but got kinda bored with it lately even though I kill everything quite convincingly.
Any new ideas for this kind of stats/character? 42k DPS 400-500 res with prismatic armor 42hp 28% crit chance 100% crit dmg 1.79 attack speed 19% movement speed
What is the WW build and how do you play with it?

In addition to the one above me: In general, which skills benefit from attack speed? I believe energy twister tick more often with higher speed, anything else?
Aside from that, which is the best Hydra right now? Your opínions?

I'm currently playing with Lightning and love it, since it never misses the shots because they're instant sparks

after 1.04 is out, i revived my Wiz. i was stuck in A2 Inferno before and now i marched through A2 and A3 quite ok. But i cant get past Ghom, i can drop him to ~25% but than the room is totally filled with clouds and i cant tank them.
I could use some advices about possible skill-changes: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Rodberd-2757/hero/4807813
havent changed my skills fors ages, so maybe im a bit blind to other options. i tried a few options, like change to MM with charged Blast, but i totally miss a piercing spell ...
i know my gear isnt good, but i play only self-found, so NO RMAH / AH for me.

I've tested Disintigrate on atttack speed. Your arcane power depletes a lot faster with higher attack speed so the dps should also be a lot higher. On the other hand it seems attack speed does not have any impact on Blizzard which makes me wonder why anyone would want any attack speed at, all besides build that Energy Twister + CM. I will definitely stick with a low attack speed/high base dmg weapon until I get to the point where I can run that build, even though the dps number displayed is low.

does the stormchaser WW proc more than the other runes or am i hallucinating?... and why is it so?

I think you're on to something considering the #2 ranked paragon mage uses Storm Chaser even without a signature spell: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/sheriff-2538/hero/17450978

The large tornado from stormchaser has double the proc coefficient, I'm thinking maybe the game treats all tornados of stormchaser like the large tornado once you have charges.

ahh thanks. how do you check rankings?

If you just want to kill Ghom switch your low range signature for MM. Kite him around the very outside room as slowly as possible (this is the key) and shoot whenever you have the opportunity.

I've got about 1.6m to spare now, which is still not alot, so i'll look for some stuff in that range. I haven't really sat down and browsed the AH to figure out what I can reasonably upgrade.
How do you do in A3? Your HP seems really low but I don't know if your armor and res all make up for that.
Also, I noticed you have "Cold Blooded" as a passive. Does it affect the mobs that are in a Blizzard? Does that count as "chilled"? I love Blizzard for the AoE so I might take on that passive. 20% seems like a good boost.
A3 I'm up to siegebreaker, but can't run with nearly that much MF. The armor and allres really help, but you're right, you do need more of a HP cushion to soak up some of the bigger hits in A3. With a few gearswaps i'm around 37k HP. Biggest problem for me in A3 is just mob HP. It takes so much longer to kill stuff that I find A2 more enjoyable/profitable.
That first passive jumps around a bit, but yeah, I like Cold Blooded. 20% bonus to all damage for anything in your blizzard. I've played with Glass Cannon for bigger orb hits, Galvanizing Ward for basically less potion use, but Cold Blooded is my favorite for boosted damage without sacrificing defense directly.

I've been messing around with a cooldown reduction Archonbuild with a tanking barbarian, it seems to be a really nice build but I have a question, does venom hydras crits affect critical mass? And should I use another signature spell to get out more crits to reduce the cooldown? Anyway here is the build I've been messing around with, and any suggestions about gear are also welcome, recently came back after a break I took with the IAS nerf patch.

As far as I can tell, all hydras have a 0 proc coefficient, i.e. they can't proc life on hit, on hit effects from gear i.e. 2% chance to stun, or proc critical mass. An easy way to test this is to put a low cooldown spell on your bars, use it, put out a hydra and watch the cooldown. If it jumps, you're in business, but if it ticks down like usual, things are as I suspect.

But what do you think about using some other sig spell to get more crits to reduce the cooldown? Maybe using a piercing or an AoE spell, would that work and give more crits?

Can someone tell me if I should feel bad or was probably saved from a bad buy?
Missed a nice Triumvirate yesterday because I feel asleep 3 minutes before the auction expired (bid only). Was sitting at 13 mil and had stats like that: 65-340 Dmg Adds +5% to Fire Damage Adds +6% to Lightning Damage Adds +6% to Arcane Damage +162 Intelligence +62 Vitality +14 Maximum Arcane Power +8% Critical Hit Chance
As comparison my current source: 85-372 Dmg +70 Dexterity +49 Intelligence +52 Vitality +5.5% Critical Hit chance +12% Better Chance of finding magical items

interesting!
i actually was testing proc rates yesterday, not extensively but getting a feel while playing. I had read about the storm chaser rune, but i saw the increased proc rate was with the big tornado so i removed eb and switched it to the bleeding blade that also have a very good proc rate, and cm was procing a ton with both, will have to test with out the sig to see whats going on.
either way even with the reduced proc rate on ww it still felt the better or if not equal just because the tornados stay put on ur frozen mobs instead of wandering around.
I also tested some other combos that had good procs on cm:
mistral breeze (ap reduction rune) with 20 ap on crit: this one was awsome in closed cuarters, you could basically flood the screen with tornados and they would be bouncing off walls, good proc rate but in the open field they tended to drift too much to be truly stable for tanking.
bleeding blade + molten meteor (8 sec burning rune): had to jump the ap on crit to 28 and remove eb for this one to be efective, 60 ap per cast is alot. the procs jumped a ton with the meteors but the delay in the impacts made it feel a little too jumpy and unstable for the tanking but maybe changing the playstyle a bit it could be effective, it sure was fun though to be nuking the shit out of everything and shit dies fast with em meteors.

well i would feel bad, you would gain dps form the int, even though the average damage is lower, from the crit chance and the extra % in form of elemental damage. plus a little bit of health, more ap and like 10 more ar from the int. at the cost of the mf. Dunno how much money you had and if that increase was worth the 13 mill, you should know how u are feeling about it.
But that source at 13 million seemed like a very good buy, specially factoring the cool legenadary trait :D.

At first I felt bad because I thought I bought it yesterday :p but then I remembered I bought a tri with similar stats (maybe missing an affix like max ap which i dont' care for) for 5mil!
