The only method I have had a little success with is to trap him in a corner but keep as much distance as you can but still hit him with explosions (like 3 hex) and he wont run past allowing you to stack on him. Bit hit and miss though ^^

I stopped playing diablo 3 for month or two, the melee build (tornado/explosive blast/frost nova/ archon) was just starting to get popular. Anyone mind informing me as to what is the most popular melee build at the moment? what about ranged builds? my gear is in the ~65k dps range, 590 all resist (no buffs), 36k hp.
Also, how bad was the recent tornado nerf?
thanks :D

Its pretty bad, need alot more resist/armor now since diamond skin cooldown is much longer now. It still kinda worked but I'll probably use my ranged build more now.

archon and tornado build is the most efficient grinding skills

I had 2-3 month's break with d3 (when i've played most popular build was hydra/blizzard) and tried melee build described in this thread http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/4941228357?page=1 which worked for me quite well even with my lets say it, quite suboptimal gear (30k hp, 150 life on hit, 30k dps 400-500 resists unbuffed). By quite well i mean i was able to progress thru act3 without dying to anything that wasn't my total fuckup/phase beast.

Anyone have experience with the new SoJ? Does it significantly speed up your runs? Is it worth it even if the skill bonus is a spell you do not use often? Thinking about dropping my Zuni 2 piece for one, about 8k or so damage and 60 AR loss, wondering if it's worth it.

alrite so I'm back with new questions:
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Alesso-1854/hero/2945079
with this build i am basically a glass cannon. it's fun tho, personally i have no interest in doing the WW+CM thing. so my question is what pieces of gear could be upgraded easiest -- i have not had a lot of luck on the AH finding well priced items, so im wondering if anyone with lots of experience buying/selling knows any easy-to-improve slots on mine.
next question: does anybody know if arcane torrent will work with LOH? i am thinking of somehow adding LOH to my gear... anyone got experience in general using torrent in their build? it guns down dudes before they get close so i dont need much defensiveness... i do die sometimes to fast fuckers though, like fast elites, etc.
Also... Someone earlier on told me i should aim for more movespeed. I am wondering what the best way to go about this would be without losing tons of DPS? what items typically are good for movespeed (besides boots obviously)? I know about the Lacuni Bracer/wahtever, they are ideal with +12% movespeed, but i also want crit + int and that means its insanely expensive like 200M+ So any ideas how to get closer to 25% movespeed with an item?
edit: oh forgot to add, i'm also trying to keep my MF where it's at, if not then higher... so maybe some advice on managing MF too..

If it''s on Cooldown and if i haven''t agro''d it i will just go proc off objects or other random mobs until archon is ready.

i think u could easily improve on the defensive slots, specially since ah prices have gone down so hard. try getting around 60-80 AR on top of what u already have on all of these: shoulders, chest, belt, pants and boots. that shouldnt be too expensive. it would also be good if u could squeeze in more armour where u can too.
i have been using a torrent build since nightmare so i have plenty experience with it, what im seeing in ur build is u have too many ap spenders and no defensive skills. with arcane torrent there are moments when u want to be able to tank a bit via some defensive skill and turret things down. that would be either getting some decent resists + armour and diamond skin or teleport fracture + illusionist. i personally use both.
my build is arcane torrent(disruption), arcane hydra, crystal shell, teleport fracture, force weapon, prismatic armour. for the passives i use blur( or glass cannon depending on the act), temporal flux and illusionist. I can farm act 3 and 4 with this build with around 50k dps 6000 armour 750-800 resists and 30k life.

cool man thanks for the input. i didnt realize the resists were so low, so thats helpful to know which pieces would be easiest to upgrade. do you notice huge improvement going from ~400 up to 600 or 700? in terms of actually being able to take lots more shots, etc.
also, someone earlier said teleport could be replaced by just having 24% movespeed in terms of playability and survivability. do you have any thoughts on this? what im doing right now is using orbs on larger packs to get the mass slow going, and i find it also shoots & hits targets much quicker than the torrent blasts, so if i need to turn around and pop a couple fast mobs, its helpful to have. so im reluctant to get rid of orb and replace w/ diamond skin. i will try it out though. i have 10 arcane on crit from the source, and was thinking adding another 6-10ish would make the arcane spending at that rate completely doable. right now i actually dont run out of arcane very much with just 10apoc. thanks again for the input its very helpful

Anyone can think of a legendary that boosts lightning damage on top of their head?
Started playing again and just playing around with skills. Got a few upgrades at a reasonable price and now I'm sitting at 50k HP, 6000 armor, 700 all res and 57k DPS, 28% crit, 146% crit damage.
I'm still mainly playing Hydra/Blizzard based. I've played around with the other hydras and can't really decide between arcane and lightning. Arcane has some nice AoE damage, but lightning never misses since the spark is instant and apparently it can arc to up to 2 additional enemies. So if I could find an item boosting my lightning damage I'd stick to lightning. This also would be beneficial since I'm playing around with Electrocute now as well.
Edit: Storm Crow looks nice, though it has quite a low max INT roll (100), but it has +7-8% lightning damage, LOH, bonus dmg vs. elite

ofc there is a difference with the resists, they will give you more leeway on making mistakes and being hit, or if u go my way more ds uptime to facetank before you blink out.
dunno about moove speed, never had more or less than 12% so i cant comment.
for the mass slowing i use the hydra, just pop it up in the middle of the pack in front of me so it does its thing before they reach me. But yeah i feel you about the fast mob tipes with the slow travel time from the torrents. What i do is either use the defensive skills to tank them or let my images tank them if theyre tougher, elites etc. if its trash mobs that i will just 1-2 shot anyways what i do is aim the torrent in front of my feet and just start mooving when theyre about to reach me and start the attack animation, if u time it right u dodge the attak and the torrent hits them just as theyre starting to swipe at you.
I have 8 ap on crit (41% cc) and 4 ap reduction on arcane torrent, so yeah i barely ever run out of ap either, still i feel having orb and at is a bit redundant, but each his own.

So I haven't played in a while (only started again recently after the patch) and I feel heavily undergeared compared to all other wizards. I never had much gold (I was constantly trying Act 3 undergeared so lost more on repairs than I gained) but am quickly getting more by farming A1 and selling some decent stuff. Still only 1.2m at the moment though.
My DPS (with force weapon & glass cannon) is only 30K. My life is 60K and my resists are almost non existent. While I do feel I die quite easily, the 60K life and almost 6K armor keeps me alive long enough and I dont feel I need resist. I really want to up my DPS but I can't afford a higher DPS weapon, what should I get? Should I find some similar gear but with more int? I'd need like a 1000 more int to actually make it do something.
What can I get for 1m that will actually improve me quite a lot? Should I change my skills as well? I don't know if blizzard / hydra is outdated.

I'd recommend you guys to switch from WW to Storm Chaser rune, since the crit proc rate for SC is so much better right now after 1.0.4 patch.

Oh seems I missed you have online profiles now: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/PandaCore-1864/hero/4941341
Any suggestions what I should work on next? I kind of want new gauntlets and in the end a better source off course, bracers too. Probably a better headgear shouldn't be too hard to find.... so much to still improve <.<

Hi, i started to play again on d3 and i'm currently finishing act 1 of inferno. My gear is relatively shitty and my build is probably is probably not optimal. Here is my profile: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/jetap-1295/hero/9955139
I'm playing venom hydra+ blizzard (with the rune that freezes opponents for 3 second, thinking about changing it) + diamond skin/teleport with worm hole for survivability. I currently have around 30k hp and 18k dps. Any advice about improving my build ( or maybe a build that I should try out?) as well as improving my equipement without spending too much gold? ( i have only around 400k)

switch arcane orb with energy armor

I was in a similar spot for a while, and noticed a big difference after gearing for armor and allres. The thing to keep in mind is that armor reduces ALL damage you take, so stacking it is always a good idea when you can. The other thing to remember is that STR boosts armor directly. When you're doing your int/vit/allres searches, keep an eye out for pieces with bonus armor and extra STR. Watch the base armor as well. It adds up when you pick the higher level items over high stat rolled lower level items. (I guess now you can search for more than 3 stats.) DEX isn't a throwaway stat either, you can dodge just about anything too. When it comes to resists, I like stacking All Resists, picking up bonus fire resist and physical resist when it's available.
For upgrades I'd recommend looking hard for a new hat, boots and bp. Your HPS are really high, but your defenses and dps are low. If you can swap out some of that +life% on the hat for more int and maybe some crit, you'll come out ahead. For the boots, your main stats there are fine, but you don't have anything else. You should be able to find boots with similar int/vit but also armor/str or resists. For the bp, look for more int and allres with higher armor and I think you'll stand up to mobs better.
MF profile here, farming act 2 comfortably: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Scorp-1856/hero/827547

Thanks man!
I've got about 1.6m to spare now, which is still not alot, so i'll look for some stuff in that range. I haven't really sat down and browsed the AH to figure out what I can reasonably upgrade.
How do you do in A3? Your HP seems really low but I don't know if your armor and res all make up for that.
Also, I noticed you have "Cold Blooded" as a passive. Does it affect the mobs that are in a Blizzard? Does that count as "chilled"? I love Blizzard for the AoE so I might take on that passive. 20% seems like a good boost.
