this is obviously very generic.

bleh, can't even farm act3 solo anymore mobs still hurt like hell, and i die way too much even with prismatic and 30k hp 400 resists just doesn't cut it anymore. FA or prismatic don't matter i can't take much more than 4 hits.

a also have a 100+ dex 160+ int amulet as well with 22 vit. xD like 6-700k maybe. i can get a better one with 120 int 120 vit and 54% cd for 900k on EU.
and 0 for the 2nd one. no1 wants int and dex and nothing else on an amulet...

I dunno Im kind scrolling stuff here it seems that aspeed is still the best attribute for bigger damage ... even post nerf ....

So Im making a wiz now after the patch that fucked my monk and WD .. . At level 36 currently. I'm going to have about 40m from selling my monk gear..
Most of the guides/builds I've been seeing online are outdated, can anyone give like a rough explanation of what I need? Like what set items/legendaries .. base stats etc.
Crit chance and damage mainly?
Will I be able to farm inferno ponies with 40m gear?

Regarding the Tal Rasha set:
I've heard somewhere that the set bonus adds 3% fire to you damage, rather than granting 3% extra damage to fire spells.
Anyone have a source for this? If so, it may be worth the set bonus.

Ok seeking some honest advice and I know I will get the "don't spend money just farm it answers from some" So I LOVE the game and I have limited time to play around 2 jobs / full time school. SO I tore normal/NM/Hell out of the wall and destroyed them. Last 2 weeks been working on kiting, gear, farming and being able to conquer more of act one then just Ghom. Still not very successful and last patch hurt me more than helped. SO what would be a good investment to purchase for items on RMAH if I am looking to spend 50-100$ with these current stats in the attached photos. Thanks for the suggestions I just want to be able to solo more of the game when I get home from work and stop hitting my head on the wall failing.

i'm still struggling with act 3 but act 1 and 2 is so much easier...so annoying. 350+ res, 4.5k amour and 30k life ==

I gave up on act 2/3 and just decided to go back to act 1. Repair bills just took away any incentive to do kulle, much less try to beat belial, and certainly not gonna do act 3.

Besides, act 1 means I can run around the entire act and kill loot pinata elites for 1-3 (often 2) rares each.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with spending money on this game, especially when your time is used on school and work.
My suggestion would be to not put in 50 and spending it in an hour. For items like rings, sources, and amulets, you can find a deal quite easily. Take your time and seek out a good price. You might even find it fun and flip a couple of items for profit.

I'd say that you should be able to do the whole of act 1 with that gear, and getting better gear now will just make you hit an even harder brick wall later. I am pretty sure my stats were worse when i killed azmodan.

i really dont think wizards should be using 2 handers... like not at all. the bonuses u get from a good off hand are far too great. even a bad source with like 50 vit, 50 int, 7 crit chance slaughters the damage u can achieve from a 2hander. the attack speed on one handers is also infinitely better for casting spells.
just a tip for buying amulets, amulets need 50% crit damage/ high crit chance to really get ur damage rolling.

On June 20 2012 03:20 Phael wrote: Equal? More like nerf speed to the ground.
Currently for my (admittedly well geared) wizard, 1% crit is providing 1800 on-screen damage (can go up to 10 on an item) 1% crit damage is about 300 damage (can go up to 50-60 on an item) 1% attack speed is about 800 damage (can go up to 19? 20? on an item)
With the fact that speed usually spawns up to double the amount of crit on items, it was more or less balanced for an endgame setup. Now that they have roughly equal spawn amounts (rings are weird), there's almost no point in focusing on speed, it's just more of a flavor/extra stat now.
It was fairly balanced for gloves, slightly imbalanced for amulets, but very imbalanced for rings.
You need some decent crit damage bonuses for 1% crit chance to be equal to 2% attack speed dpswise, but even then it was incredibly common to find 14% attack speed on a ring while 7% crit was unheard of and even 4% was very rare.
Now it's balanced for rings but imbalanced for gloves and amulets in favour of crit.

Defensve wise it looks ok. You could even go a litte bit lower on life imo. So Diamond Skin, Health Globes,Pots and Life Regen is more effective. You will lose 1/3 of your hp anyway with each hit, so the lower the life, the more effective your life gains get. I´m around 64% damage reduction and 25k life and nothing 1 shots me in act 3 so far, that you cant avoid easily. I plan to add more reduction and go even lower on life.
I would also dump mm. With a lot of IAS it was nice to have, but now that they nerfed it, I feel its not worth it anymore. Go with tap the source orb and venom hydra. For slow, I would recommend a cold bow equipped bow merc. He also adds crit, which scales great with the current focus on crit and crit damage. Which brings me to the next point. Your crit is fine at 23%, but WTF? no crit damage ? Thats the whole point of stacking crit right now. Getting crit damage will boost your damage big time with your already good crit %. So I would recommend looking for a big big crit damage weapon as your next main upgrade. Search for weapons with crit damage AND socket, so you can even add more crit damage via gem. Big DPS weapons are expensive and a lot of people will only look for the DPS on the weapon, so look for int and crit damage. With your Int and Crit level for example, 100% crit damage is worth more than 200 dps on the weapon. So for example a 800dps 30crit damage and socket weapon will be better than a 1000 dps without crit damage.
|
Yeah I would never use a 2H. Maybe if you are on a -really- tight budget but honestly a source is just way too good (although they suck to search for).
|
Does any1 else find that arcane hydra is better then venom hydra for soloing whimsyshire? (Ao/hydra).
The fact your always kiting and the slow it gives is just so good, as well as doing nearly the same damage.
|
Why on earth do people think signature spells are better with attack speed?
Signature spells deal the damage displayed on your character sheet * its multipler, if you get to stand still. No more, no less.
Procs such as arcane dynamo and ap on crit more or less ignore attack speed - yes you get more resources/stacks faster on a faster cast, but due to your faster cast, your secondary hits for less, thus making things exactly even.
Once you have enough speed to kite (and practice lowers this number), you're set on speed.
FWIW, I farm with 0.96 attacks/second now.
