The top line has been shaky but I think that's due to lack of chemistry. With some time to develop chemistry they should be one of the most dynamic lines in the league. Ryan has had chances and I really like how he hangs out around the net for those dirty goals, just hasn't gone his way yet.

Providing a thorough history of the birth and evolution of humanity’s relationship with grass, Harvey keeps things interesting by including comical tidbits. Who knew that lawnmowers used to be considered a status symbol that families would pose around for group photographs? Or that before the invention of the mower the grass of wealthy people was cut by attractive grazing animals? During this time it was not uncommon to see a shaggy Highland or a jet-black Angus perpetually wandering the grounds of an affluent estate.
For centuries grass has survived and continues to survive through some of the most oppressive situations. Grass has been found at 5, 500 meters in the Himalayas Mountains and even in volcanic fumaroles amidst fire and rock. One species of grass germinates best when submerged in mild solutions of noxious poisons. The durable quality of grass does not justify abuse towards it though. Harvey’s historical account and comical quips are intertwined with a sober appeal to conserve the wealth and diversity of our grasses.
And the Oilers are a hockey team in the NHL.

Want proof the 3 stars don't matter? Ducks vs Jets. Selanne gets 1st star. His state line? 0g 0a 0p -1 4SoG

He was first star because it was his last game in Winnipeg...?

I don't really get Laviolette. All of the pundits always talk really, really highly of him because he won a cup with Carolina. However, he seems to get fired a lot and have generally poor performances with a couple of outlier seasons. What am I missing?

I won a lot of money when they did that. lol -.^ I watched the press conference this morning and eek, if I'm Paul Holmgren I'd feel the noose tightening.

I guess you didn't see when the sens tripped the leafs TWICE on a breakaway, not once getting a penalty shot? That trumps the penalty count for sure, it's such bias in that game towards the sens.

Meh, I think the heat the Flyers are taking for that selection is a bit over the top.
That being said, it is baffling that Lavi would get canned and Homer stays on. Lavi isn't the greatest coach, but outside of his forward core, he had shit to work with.

Cowen and Bolland were hip to hip, that's not a clear breakaway and he got a hooking call, aka, the correct call. One non-call does not magically swing the refs bias in the Sens favor in a game where they only have ~1:30 in PP time. Leafs won the game, Leafs had more PP, and you're going to focus on one non-call and cry about how unfair the refs are? Kinda sad... you're 3-0, chin up bud.

Man.... This Devils Oilers game so brutal.
Jagr scored early and every since been like no flow at all. Devils trap so hard. 4 guys on their blueline no matter what and cannot dump it in because Marty plays the puck to well.

Holmgren had interesting comments about Laviolette. As it was clear that something was amiss the past two years, you might ask why he wasn't fired in the offseason. Homer said he wanted to give Lavy at least training camp, which is a noble gesture I guess. The intense roster turnover and big expectations of two young guys (Schenn and Couturier) didn't help him at all. It's hard to really say the Flyers could have been much better the past 2 years, but the team has looked like a collection of parts for a while now. That damns the coach quite a bit; you don't need outstanding talent to make a cohesive team, and the Flyers simply haven't had that for a while.

That D is bottom 5 bad, and I have a feeling the goaltending will be right around there this year as well. Bryz wasnt good, but he's better than either of what is there now. Emery, much like Crawford, played behind a fantastic team.

Cally comes back for his first game post shoulder surgery, gets through the first and then promptly injures himself flying acorss the ice to destroy Kopitar. Kopi was skating not looking with his stick high and Callahan ran into it outstretched with his face full speed. Yay!
