Reversing DACA would be stupidity of the same magnitude as repealing the ACA. It just impacts way too many people.

Thats what was said at the press conference. I have no doubt that Trump wants to though. Not really sure if it is feasible though.

Homeland Security adviser Tom Bossert said no decision has been made yet and they’re “still reviewing” — and Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders confirmed that no decision has been made.

The merits of the policy don’t matter to Trump. Obama wrote it, so it must be removed. We long ago moved passed if something was good for America or not. It all about Trump and his base. And deporting the children of illegal immigrants is a crowd pleaser.

Do you think we could get word to Trump that the alt right's favourite thing is punching babies in the head on tv?

Only Alex Jones can reach him.

He withdrew himself from the nomination process. I kinda doubt he could get clearance.

Rep. Mike Coffman (R-Colo.) said Thursday he'll attempt to force a vote on a bill that would extend protections for undocumented immigrants who came to the United States as minors.

When he returns to Washington next week, Coffman said he'll file what's known as a "discharge petition" to force action on his proposal, known as the BRIDGE Act. If he can convince a majority of the House — 218 members — to join him, the House will be required to take up the measure later in September.

Coffman's rarely used gambit comes amid reports that President Donald Trump may roll back an Obama-era program meant to protect undocumented immigrants who arrived in the country as minors. The program, known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, has shielded about 800,000 immigrants from deportation and provided work permits.

"#DACA participants grew up here, went to school here, and should be allowed to stay here. The time has come to take action," Coffman tweeted.

The bill already has 12 Republican cosponsors in the House, in addition to Coffman. In the Senate, a companion measure was introduced by Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), and it has support from GOP Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) and Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.)

The measure extends protection — similar to that afforded under DACA — to those born after June 15, 1981, were brought to the United States before their 16th birthday and have lived in the United States since June 15, 2007. Applicants for protection must also be enrolled in school, have graduated from high school or have served honorably in the military. And those convicted of a felony or certain misdemeanors would be barred from the program.

Coffman's call is likely to draw support from Democrats, as well as other Republicans who have previously backed measures to protect those undocumented immigrants who arrived in the country as minors. During the 2016 presidential campaign, Trump called for eliminating the program, but he backed off shortly after winning the election. This week, his administration indicated he was reviewing the program and hadn't yet decided what to do.

Trump said in February that he intended to deal with DACA enrollees "with heart."

Coffman is also one of the more vulnerable Republicans in the House. Democrat Hillary Clinton won his district by a 50-41 margin.

It's about fucking time representatives got on board with changing immigration law by legislative action and not executive fiat. Their constituencies, hell let's just suppose it's wildly popular, will see which representatives vote for it and can vote out the bums that don't.

Lawnewz article on it :
lawnewz.com
President Donald Trump‘s administration has agreed to settle the first lawsuit filed against the so-called “Muslim ban,” according to a statement issued by the ACLU.

“The settlement ensures that all travelers who were barred from the country on the basis of the ban and have not since returned to the United States are informed of their right to reapply for a visa and provided with a list of free legal services organizations that can help them do so,” the statement said.

The first lawsuit filed was Darweesh v. Trump, and was filed on January 28, 2017 shorty after the ban went into effect. As part of the settlement, the government will reportedly provide a list of pro bono immigration attorneys who can aid foreigners applying for visas, and will provide notice in three different languages. The DOJ must also coordinate and aid in processing new applications for those wanting to come back to the United States in the next three months.

“It means a lot to me to be in America,” said Hameed Darweesh, who served as the lead plaintiff in the case. “The United States is a great country because of its people. I’m glad that the lawsuit is over. Me and my family are safe; my kids go to school; we can now live a normal life. I suffered back home, but I have my rights now. I’m a human.

It's a little optimistic to think that people will vote out their congressman just because congress makes laws they don't like. After all, it's their congressman. It's everyone else's they don't like.

The knock-on effects of Harvey are hitting Dallas. Can't buy gas anywhere in the city right now. Apparently gas is getting shipped down from Tulsa, which has got the second largest refinery in the world, but I don't know if it will be here by tomorrow.
