It was still amusing when they examined the viewer base for all the major news channels + the daily show and the most informed people where those who watched the daily show. I think Stewart knew his audience was pretty much only liberals and a lot of them highly or becoming highly educated. He also did a fair share of skewering all the big media stations and how much of a shit show they are so that was always appreciated. Yes he did attack Fox the most but CNN and MSNBC got their share of being raked over the coals. Its all about how much ammo he gets out of them, and Fox News literally showers anyone with a brain with contradictions and conservative bias that is easy to make fun of. CNN got made fun of because they are basically just bad regardless of their agenda. And believe me he has made plenty of fun of CNN. MSNBC got less shit because they dont provide him with enough stuff to but if you think about it, why deviate from your cash cow that never stops giving in Fox and conservative stupidity to go looking for stupidity elsewhere. Which there is plenty off mind you, but just more work to make fun of sometimes, when its not. It gets shot too. I know this because I attended the show like 3 times in his last month (including Obama xD) and the day he had Ted Cruz (who didnt show up) I actually asked him this in the QA part about why he doesnt make more fun of liberals and pointed out examples and he basically alluded to what I just said.

Weirdly enough, it is far more transparent and authentic than conservative propaganda like Fox News. Of course, this assumes that we accept that anything made to attract ratings is propaganda. Which is sort of a misuse of the term.

I do not exactly regard soldiers as the go-to people to ask about the direction of our country. The education requirement is very low and I would say I mostly have a negative opinion on the quality of people I know in the military. Being "brave" doesn't mean you have a clue how the country should be run. Such silly pandering. last I heard, veterans have above average education in the country; though it's been awhile. Maybe it was some other metric where they stood out as above average.

Presidential elections are super glamorized and get a lot of media attention, but the amount of impact most voters have on the outcome is pretty damn small, especially when you consider how the Electoral College works. You have a lot more consistent impact voting at the local and regional level but since these elections aren't as glamorous, a lot of these younger people getting involved don't participate at that level. Our system would work a lot better if people did pay attention to state and local level politics. Seems like too many shit leaders slip into office because too few pay attention.

PHILADELPHIA — Leaked emails show the Democratic National Committee scrambled this spring to conceal the details of a joint fundraising arrangement with Hillary Clinton that funneled money through state Democratic parties. But during the three-month period when the DNC was working to spin the situation, state parties kept less than one half of one percent of the $82 million raised through the arrangement — validating concerns raised by campaign finance watchdogs, state party allies and Bernie Sanders supporters. But a POLITICO analysis of Federal Election Commission records shows that very little money from the victory fund went to the states after that point. Between the creation of the victory fund in September and the end of last month, the fund had brought in $142 million, the lion’s share of which — 44 percent — has wound up in the coffers of the DNC ($24.4 million) and Hillary for America ($37.6 million), according to a POLITICO analysis of FEC reports filed this month. By comparison, the analysis found that the state parties have kept less than $800,000 of all the cash brought in by the committee — or only 0.56 percent. Source

Let Me Remind You Fuckers Who I Am by Hillary Clinton What the fuck is your problem, America?? I’m Hillary goddamn Clinton. I’m a political prodigy, have been since I was 16. I have an insane network of powerful friends. I’m willing to spend the next eight years catching shit on all sides, all so I can fix this fucking country for you. And all you little bitches need to do is get off your asses one goddamn day in November. “Oh but what about your eeeemaaaaillls???” Shut the fuck up. Seriously, shut the fuck up and listen for one fucking second. Here’s all you need to know about me: In 1992, I said I was proud to have followed my career instead of baking cookies. The GOP fucking dragged me for it. They made me bake cookies. They’re scared of me. Every time I have a job, y’all love me. Every time I run for anything, the GOP breaks out the big guns again and fucks me up good. And apparently it fucking works. But you know what? I don’t fucking care. If I gave two shits about the haters I would’ve dropped the game decades ago. You know why I keep fighting? Because we all want the same shit. We want economic and racial justice, we want to seriously attack climate change, we want everyone to be able to afford college and health care and housing and food, we want women to be treated like humans, yada yada yada. And I’m the only person in this goddamn country who knows how to do it. Because of course I do. Because I’ve been preparing my whole fucking life for this job. So stop making me dab on Ellen and just give me a fucking chance already. If it seems like I have contempt for the American voter, it’s because I do. Frankly, most of you are fucking stupid. Most of you have no goddamn idea what it takes to run a country. I mean god damn, almost half of you think God created the Earth 10,000 years ago! What the actual fuck???? Look, this is the big leagues. If you think any problem has a tweetable solution, you’re just wrong. If you think “border wall” or “muslims = bad” is gonna solve our problems, I don’t have time for your shit. This is literally why we have a representative government. I know you don’t want to read long, boring things. So I do it for you, and I ask a bunch of smart people, and we come up with shit that works. Here’s my solution on energy. Here’s my solution on Wall Street. Here’s my solution on jobs. I have fucking binders full of this shit and you know it. I’m so fucking ready, America. The GOP just spent their entire convention fantasizing about literally imprisoning me. They are terrified. They know what I can do. I’ve spent my life clawing my way into a system that’s terrified of change. A system that just wants to let rich white dudes be rich white dudes. And holy shit, you guys, I could not have picked a better opponent for my final boss battle. So lemme sign off with the same Nancy Scheibner poem I quoted back in 1969 (when I gave the commencement speech at my own fucking graduation, btw). My entrance into the world of so-called “social problems” Must be with quiet laughter, or not at all. The hollow men of anger and bitterness The bountiful ladies of righteous degradation All must be left to a bygone age. And the purpose of history is to provide a receptacle For all those myths and oddments Which oddly we have acquired And from which we would become unburdened To create a newer world To translate the future into the past. We have no need of false revolutions In a world where categories tend to tyrannize our minds And hang our wills up on narrow pegs. It is well at every given moment to seek the limits in our lives. And once those limits are understood To understand that limitations no longer exist. Earth could be fair. And you and I must be free Not to save the world in a glorious crusade Not to kill ourselves with a nameless gnawing pain But to practice with all the skill of our being The art of making possible. ROFL, it just keeps getting better and better. The best part is that I'm sure that Wikileaks is holding some of the best stuff back. Also, what is described above shouldn't be surprising to anyone. Fundraising in both parties is a very collusive exercise.

This is largely also due to the fact that in times of shortages of manpower, they up and over-recruit, leading to an excessively large manpower pool that is wasteful. In response to this, they go overboard with kicking people out (as happened a few years ago in the air force) to the point where they are now back at a manpower shortage (which is what we're starting to see now). A few months ago the Secretary of the Air Force noted one of the most pressing issues the Air Force was facing was a lack of manpower in maintenance fields and that we needed to recruit more maintainers to counteract this. These swelling and shrinking cycles of the military are just a symptom of the way it functions as a bureaucracy and will most likely continue to repeat itself.
