This is why the GOP hates Cruz:

Ted Cruz isn’t giving up.

While Donald Trump dispatches three advisers to Texas’s convention in Dallas this week and makes a pitch for party unity, his team will be running up against a Cruz operation that is still maneuvering to stuff the state’s delegation with allies the senator could call on to snub the presumptive nominee.

“We have a busy weekend planned,” said a source familiar with the Cruz campaign’s plans.

Cruz is scheduled to deliver an address at the Texas convention after a week of hinting he could jump back into the presidential contest and urging activists to thwart the New Yorker’s takeover of the GOP’s policy platform. And despite dropping out of the race more than a week ago, the vanquished presidential contender has deployed at least one paid adviser to the Texas Republican convention – Tyler Norris, his state director. (Trump has three advisers: state director Joshua Jones, deputy director Eric Mahroum and Houston-area director Kayla Hensley.)

It’s not just Texas where Cruz is still playing.

The senator’s team remains active in several of the other eight state conventions selecting delegates this week – from Nebraska to Oklahoma to Nevada. Those conventions, along with party meetings in Arkansas, Florida and Wisconsin, will be selecting 389 national delegates, nearly a sixth of the entire convention.

If Cruz were still working to send the nomination fight to a contested convention, this weekend’s delegate hunt would have been the main event – the largest single delegate selection weekend of the primary season. Now, it’s become a display of Cruz’s last hardcore bastions of support and a forum for Trump to appeal for unity.

the youth turnout would have been high without the bernie hijacking. it's a positional thing. hillary would look much better besides trump and people would be more willing to give her a fair hearing.

Honestly I think Cruz is mostly doing this to prove that Trump is actually really crappy when it comes to political and executive organization, hiring people, and deal cutting in comparison to Cruz. Beating Trump at Trump's own game, basically. Mostly because he fucking loathes the man at this point.

Even absent Bernie, why do you think that the young would turn out any better for Hillary than they did for Kerry (as compared to Obama)?

Interesting to see Bernie isn't really attacking Clinton anymore, at least on Facebook.

because without bernie hillary would be able to have more buy-in to her positive campaign positions and message. it's a broadly progressive plan with a lot of nice things for young people. there is also trump for contrast.

as it stands most of the bernie or bust people have a perception of hillary that is just filtered through propaganda to which they are highly receptive. without the 'evil neoliberalism omg' people they would take some time to read her positions. the framing of her candidacy would change drastically.

situation on the left is basically a bunch of people just becoming aware of globalization and think they can stop it. like omg you mean we are competing with vietnam garment workers? newsflash the industries that could have outsourced mostly already have and the point of the game is to create growth in the space left behind and more equitably distribute the gains. it's a total clown show.

Even assuming that you're right in declaring that Hillary has a platform that should appeal to younger voters, your reliance upon the strength of the platform as a reason for the young to vote for her is badly misplaced. The problem isn't the message. It's the messenger. Not only does Hillary lack the skillset to emotionally motivate young voters to vote for her, but she has a shitton of political baggage that younger voters do not appreciate, including previous inconsistent political positions. Young voters were never going to be motivated to support Hillary in this election.

It may be too late for a man identified as a white nationalist leader to be removed from a list of Trump delegates, an official in the California secretary of state's office told NPR.

"The Trump campaign did not reach out to our office about removing William Johnson's name as a delegate until Tuesday, May 10 — which is past the statutory deadline to submit delegate lists to the Secretary of State's office," Press Secretary Sam Mahood said in a statement.

William Daniel Johnson is affiliated with the American Freedom Party, identified as an extremist group by the Southern Poverty Law Center. The Los Angeles attorney is known for proposing an amendment to strip U.S. citizenship from nonwhites. His existence on the list was first reported by Mother Jones.

After Johnson's name appeared on a Trump delegate list published this week by the California secretary of state, the campaign blamed a computer error and said it had taken immediate steps to remove him.

"Upon careful review of computer records, the inclusion of a potential delegate that had previously been rejected and removed from the campaign's list in February 2016, was discovered," the Trump campaign's California State Director Tim Clark said in a statement Tuesday. "This was immediately corrected and a final list, which does not include this individual, was submitted for certification."

Johnson told CNN and the Washington Post that he resigned after the Trump campaign contacted him and that he will not attend the Republican National Convention in Cleveland this summer.

daunt your personal dislike of hillary is messing up judgment here. a unified democratic party has enough social media, celebrity speakers, political shows etc to handle the publicity and excitement issue in terms of presentation. trouble is just the type of solution offered. hillary's responsible platform is kind of like telling kids that they need to do homework

No, I think I'm being quite objective when I state the obvious that she is not on Obama's level, ergo I do not expect her to drive the youth voter turnout as well as Obama did. Popular media has always been on the Democrats' side, so I consider that to be a constant.

It is kind of amazing to me how much women seem to hate Trump. I don't think he's so bad. A good old boy . . .
The unrealistic sound of these propositions is indicative, not of their utopian character, but of the strength of the forces which prevent their realization.

The funny thing about all of this harping on how much women hate Trump is that men hate Hillary just as much. We aren't hearing much about that one, though.

It's true that she's not very favorable but still far behind Trump. Also the reason we're not hearing anything about it is probably because Hillary isn't interested in telling men what to do with their body, so there's no specific reason why men would be upset

Actually, in a world where the youth vote didn't have a Bernie-esque alternative, I think that youth turnout would be quite large (even if the young vote doesn't like Hillary), purely due to opposition to Trump.
A sound mind in a sound body, is a short, but full description of a happy state in this World: he that has these two, has little more to wish for; and he that wants either of them, will be little the better for anything else.
