Call it a protest all-in that GOM made this game pointless to play.
If 4th place at least got a small cash prize, at least there would be a reason to play after being eliminated. There is always a reason to play the best zerg player in this game on stage... you learn from it and you don't waste people who watch it their time...

I said this in the LR thread, I hope he gets penalized in some way. To throw a game like that even if it didn't mean anything was very unprofessional. I feel bad for any fans he has left.

This is all solved with a better format. Be mad at GOM. The match should not have been played.
|
Now for the tournament results it doesn't matter,
SlayerSCoca forfeits his game 2 against Byun, the result doesn't matter.
Thus in my opinion, nani should be treated the same way.

Also, he did set a record of shortest game played in GOM studio (I think).

@MVPGuineapig: There's so many people who can't compete in leagues even if they want to.. are you mocking them?
This is what makes me mad about the situation. There are HUNDREDS of Korean players who would have loved to play in this gigantic tournament. It gives you exposure to thousands and thousands of new viewers. It's disrespectful to the players who aren't able to go to MLG and get invited over and over into A/S.
But if he isn't disciplined, it's no biggie. I can see Mr. Chae being very harsh or not doing anything at all.

That doesn't mean it's OK for him to behave that way. He's not a 12 year old kid playing CS 1.6, he's a professional gamer, he represents many things such as his team and his fans. I rage all the time and it would be way worse if there was money on the line etc, but it's not that frickin hard to act decently and show some respect.
He just needs to grow up, that's all.

For the record, anyone using this as an excuse to get around the rule "don't insult progamers" is still a dick.

I thought it was one of the best and most funny all in I ever seen how can you say he is throwing a match. :D

dont mind what naniwa did...

How are people still surprised about this? I really wouldn't put moves like this past Naniwa, he doesn't care about "Good and proper" and he's shown it once again, whooo, big surprise. I thought it was pretty freakin funny tbh.

Wow, they're proabably not too happy about his behaviour. =/

I see many of you arguing that the game was pointless to play and GOMTVs fault. Well not exactly. GOMTV sells tickets and earns money because they can advertise with 10 games per group, and that every player will face every player for the viewers amusement. The game was not pointless, it was scheduled.

It's an interesting issue. Obviously it was a weak move by Naniwa and he is being flamed for it.
The format of the tournament does seem to be pretty flawed though, BO1's seemed to result in a lot of TvX cheese games, which are not necessarily what people wan't to see either. It also results in there being the possibility of 'dead rubber' matches, which are hard on the players, and not great (IMHO) for the viewers.
I don't think that people who bought tickets have much to complain about, I can't imagine anybody paid for a ticked just for that particular match, and it does not mean that the rest of the tournament was not entertaining.
I also think it's interesting that I believe that if he had chosen a slightly more legitimate quick cheese into loss into gg, such as a cannon rush, that people would not have been complaining, even though at that level, the result would almost certainly be the same. I guess it will lead to some sort of idea that certain strategies are so easy to beat (worker rushes, 6-pools etc) that they could be banned as being the equivalent of throwing matches.

At least Coca gave half a game to watch.

I'm sure you know better than the rest of us including Naniwa? Bro, I understand that you're swedish like Naniwa.
However this time around you have to take the plank out of your eye and look at things objectively.
How could you even argue that what Naniwa did wasn't wrong?
You do it in your own country, fine. You don't step into a neighbour's house and take a dump on his carpet, say "nice of you to have me" and walk out.
Seriously, it's quite exasperating to see how people could argue for Naniwa.

Sure it's the first time we've seen someone do it as blatant as this but it's not the first time we've seen players just go for an halfhearted all-in.
Seriously? It's a GAME of starcraft, there's no reason for them to play it? What reason is there not to play it? Sponsors expect it to be played, fans expect it to be played, tournament organisers expect it to be played, because when it comes to SC2 being taken seriously, they're all more important than any single player.
After all this, it's a computer game, suck it up and do what you're being paid to do, don't go whining to your mummy about how the big bad man made you play a game that you committed to playing for the enjoyment of the people who basically pay your wages.

i guess he couldn't handle the stress/ personal pissed off at himself for all the games. He just simply lost his cool and knew he couldn't play a good game (first time doing so bad?) No this isnt throwing a game for like matchfixing etc it is simply cause he knew himself given the earlier games he wouldn't put out a top notch performance

Just like when they were doing the Up & Down matches with the same format right? Except in those they skipped the useless games...........

Korean's reactions on Twitter
MVP Team
We are glad Complexity sold Niniwa to Quantic. The idea about having Naniwa in our team house for longer... That was the most disappointing match in Starcraft 2 history
What makes us even angrier is that it was Nestea's birthday but he refused to stop practising for today. That is not a way of an opponent player.
Coach Kang (IM)
what.. it's you again..
FXOChoya
lol I can only laugh that bastard (T/N: probably the mild translation of 새끼) is a pro-gamer
IMMvP WTF
It is interesting how Naniwa ranted about how MVP did not like to practice with him. It seems there were reason why they did that.
