Please keep this thread on topic. It's ok to discuss the professionalism of what happened, but don't turn this thread into personal attacks or it will be closed.

Yeh, Naniwa really needs to work on his professionalism. Time and time again he finds himself in the centre of stuff like this.
I believe in the almighty Grötslev! -- I am never serious and you should never believe a thing I say. Including the previous sentence.

People defending naniwa, can't you understand that a lot of people were really looking forward to naniwa vs nestea and expected a good game? Hell some people might have stayed up all night just to watch this game or even only bought their ticket for this rivalry? And now they feel cheated because naniwa basically gave them a middle finger.

If he's already out, don't see the point in it being played.

I'm sure you know better than the rest of us including Naniwa?

Bro, I understand that you're swedish like Naniwa.

However this time around you have to take the plank out of your eye and look at things objectively.

How could you even argue that what Naniwa did wasn't wrong?

You do it in your own country, fine. You don't step into a neighbour's house and take a dump on his carpet, say "nice of you to have me" and walk out.

Seriously, it's quite exasperating to see how people could argue for Naniwa.

First of all, i'm not your bro.

Did he break any rules? no.

You don't know a damn thing about how me or other swedes do things here, so stop with the nonsense.

And what the FUCK does that parable have to do with anything? it's not even remotely similar to this
situation.
We make signature, then defense it.

I understand. If he plays a straight up game he's just going to give his next Code S opponents more games to analyze his style. It basically never happens in the GSL that a game does not matter at all but this was one of those moment.

Forfeit the game if you don't want to play. There's a reason why a lot of the Korean players are calling out Naniwa for disrespect. In my opinion, it gives him an excuse not have a loss against Nestea. He was probably on tilt and would've lost anyway so why not lose in a BS way so Nestea can't "really" win.

I don't see Naniwa staying in Korea for a long time. You have to get along with fellow pro gamers to stay in the country. All progamers that I have talked to and witnessed on Twitter. They are not impressed with Naniwa. There will be a shitstorm at the group selection night.

Of course they aren't mad. This gave GSL much more exposure than a standard game would ever have.

The game had no meaning whatsoever. For the people who claimed that it was as bad as match fixing, how do you figure that?
I'd love to know how your mind works, or doesn't.

Please check your own mind before questioning those of others.

If this is behaviour is condoned, what if people just place huge bets against themselves, and go on to lose a match on purpose?

Please put some thought before making such posts.

who cares? it was fun.

It won't change the tournament, it won't change our life. If you bet money on this match, remember that betting is a gamble, you should take into account that nani is sometimes angry like this, and think "hm, betting for nestea".

It's definitely disrespectful to GOM and more importantly Nestea. No personal attacks intended but I dislike Naniwa more and more.

Some really crazy people showing there crazyness over this. Who cares if he threw away a game that didn't matter.. he doesn't deserve to be punished at all for it.. and it's fucking insane to even suggest he lose his Code S spot over it. People seem to think that pro-gamers only play for the entertainment of us. This is a job for them, they live off this game.

If your boss told you to work an extra hour today for no extra pay and no added benefits but you can skip it if you want. What would you do?

That was disrespectful to all the people watching and for all the people who worked hard to get the games running.

To anyone that says "Meh Naniwa did the right thing the game was pointless" Liquid Hero played is "pointless" game am I right?
This is the difference between a professional gamer/sportsman/worker and a child, you get the job done no matter what.
I pay you to do something? You better do it and you better do it well.
Pro players need to cut this shit. It's not the first time stuff like this happens.

The match isn't pointless btw, it was to determine the 4th and 5th place of the group.

Yes, you can say that it was same amount of prize money regardless, but as professional players, you don't play simply for money. Therefore, that ranking involved does count as "something" they are playing for.

Just like the NBA and NHL regular seasons, teams that know they aren't advancing to the playoffs still play their full games. Just as any professional sports would. Naniwa just simply showed a lack of professionalism and integrity for the sport in general

tbh, I cannot for the world of me understand how any sane person could be of a different opinion

no professional athlete WHAT-SO-EVER could ever afford to do something like that....ever. Football, Basketball, Tennis, Hockey, it really doesn't matter. If you "throw" a game then all your fans will hate you and your sponsors will leave or even sue you.

why would any serious business company invest in something like that?

Hello, im a professional gamer. I work 10h a day, 7 days a week to be good. I qualified to this one tournament. I will get to play the best players in the world.

I lost 3 games because I was a victim of cheap strategies. Thousands of hours of work flushed down the toilet. Then a company comes and says "Hey! How about you play a show match now?"

Hello, I work as a programmer. I work fulltime doing my job. I completed a project planning a new system and I will start working to make it one of the best systems in the world.

...

Some boss decided to cut the budget and I didn't get to do it. Then someone came and asked me to start on a new project.

Face it, if you're doing something PROFESSIONALLY. You have to be PROFESSIONAL about it.

Nani is his own boss. He doesn't owe you or anyone anything else. He plays SC2 for a living and he decides when he feels like playing since it will in the long run affect no one but him.

He doesn't hurt or kill e-sport. He doesn't ruin the Blizzard Cup. He chose not to play the last game, end of story. No need to get all worked up about it.
