Well if he gg'ed, I really don't see a problem here... Blame Gom for choosing a format that allows this to happen.

I didn't see the match. So this was pretty informative to me

Both NesTea and Naniwa was 0-3 in group so they would never get through the group anyway. In their game Naniwa send all probes to NesTeas natural and of course he lost and losed all probes then gg.

Manners aside, naniwa should be punished with at least a ban, maybe even a fine.

This is as bad as match fixing goes.

If this goes unpunished:

In future anyone could just place a huge bet against yourself, lose game on purpose, reap the rewards.

Alright, look people. He didn't do anything illegal. There is no reason for GOM to penalize or punish him. Stop suggesting it. You can be mad, but don't suggest stupid things that aren't gonna happen. Even if there was some kind of punishment, GOM won't be too hard on the only foreigner in Code S.

It was a meaningless game. He didn't want to play it. Myself and others did not want to see it(would rather have moved on to watch the final game which actually had meaning). So I'm glad the game was fast.

what he said . . . i'm so sick of having naniwa flaming threads essentially take up the sc2 general. . .

Leave him be, let him be as he wants. We don't need to follow everyone movement of his life.

If anyone wants to talk about it, let it be people like QxG, Nestea, or GOMTV. An opinion, like that OP pointed out, that actually does matters. Then this could get somewhere productive, not the ravings of viewers.
The multiplying villanies of man do swarm upon him.

Yes I guess I worded that bad, will revise OP. What I meant was that GOMTV does this on their own accord, and invites the top players from the world to put on a show. He didn't "earn" it as such, GOMTV decided to put him on. But your definition is right, so I'll change it.

This is a fun fact; thanks for noting it.

Poor Quantic.

Yeah, was sad reading their twitter. I feel bad for Quantic, but at the same time it's not like they didn't know what they were getting into when acquiring naniwa

It depends ... 6 pool instantly dies to a probe scout, however 6 pools loses to worker rush! :O

It's really disgusting he threw away the games like this. I payed for my Blizzard Cup tickets expecting some 'competitive' games. But really, a probe rush? I would have been happy with a proxy 2 gate but this is just unacceptable.

MC even though he was qualified already he didn't throw his game away VS DRG (though he could have gotten 2nd in the group).

I think his Code S spot should be revoked

I hate it, when a player does this. Its very disrespectful to his fans and the viewers. Simply bad sportsmanship.

Not a big deal to me. Gom making them play meaningless matches that aren't for money or seeding points is dumb anyways. Sure what happend is bad (or funny) for the viewers that feel entitled for whatever reasons ... but I understand Naniwa is frustrated being knocked out of the tournament so he doesn't want to play a meaningless match. I don't hold anything against him.

If he is smart, he should issue a formal apology, claiming frustration of previous losses made him lose his clear judgement, and that he will never repeat the same mistake again. I think if he won't apologize, GOM will take some measures to punish him.

Are you out of your fucking mind?

How the fuck are you supposed to fine someone for something that isn't even against the rules? you can argue
about how this was disrespectful etc. but there are NO rules against it.

Jesus christ, some of you pitchfork-wielding-redditors need to fucking chill and stop looking for drama everywhere.

The game had zero impact for Nestea or Naniwa so it makes no sense even playing out the match to begin with. Sure it's the first time we've seen someone do it as blatant as this but it's not the first time we've seen players just go for an halfhearted all-in.

Be mad at GOM for the format, not at Naniwa for not wanting to play a long game.

the fact that people get so upset about this is truly amazing. he actually could not have made a better publicity stunt, though given his history, I doubt it was intended. naniwa joked around and reddit/TL are melting... this is really upsetting. not that it was honorable but it sure was his right to do something rather stupid after the tournament was over for him.
