When someone asserts something crazy, you have two viable options:
1) Simply ignore their assertions and move on with rational individuals.
2) Take advantage of their stupidity to win an easy argument, score cheap political points, or vilify your detractors.
The fact that the media continually brings this issue up again and again is simply a way to take a cheap shot and paint right-wingers as racist batshit-crazy lunatics. Are some of them nuts? Of course. There are nutjobs in every group in the world. But we seem to be very selective about when we decide to focus our attention on them.

Its a potentially smart political move. Perfect situation to intentionally distract people/media from timely issues like the Federal press conference and other goodies in the near future. Smoke and mirrors if you will, its got nothing to do with Obama wanting to clear it up.
That being said, it doesn't seem to take any of the possible long term consequences into account.
On a side note, Free Republic doesn't think its real. Obviously a fake because there are so many white spaces on the form.

It makes me sad to realize how important this issue has been to so many people. Really helps to prove how shallow and uninformed most people are. Along with the fact that this has only been an issue because of his ethnicity. Yet another reason why politics disgust me. If all of the energy spent on useless debates like this was spent on actual policies that mattered things would move forward so much faster, stupid humans.

I would respond to your argument but I don't think that "Wow. I.. wow..." actually represents an argument. We could talk all day about left-wingers who are convinced that Bush orchestrated 9/11, but you don't hear that daily in the news, despite how many people actually adhere to that belief. It is absolutely about politics.

It's based on the view that "If someone refuses to answer a question, it's probably because they are lying". I would say a good 1 in 10 people I know are conspiracy theorists, and i would say it's split 50/50 republicans democrats.

I'm honestly not a big poster when it comes to issues like this because I don't post as well as a lot of people here.. but I'll just go ahead and say that picture on p1 from Fox News kinda shows the right wing and it's media doing a fine job of making itself look insane without any need for the liberal media's help.
