Well academia refers to getting professorship etc or engineering, biology etc etc.
Being a teacher ironically is not considered "academia."
Most professors and people at the head of science are men, and it's known that women and underrepresented minorities are encouraged to apply for those positions (as stated in fellowship and medschool apps)

Girls are generally paid less then men, but according to my economics professor thats because of the time they get off for childbirth. Usually they get paid during that time, but when they come back to work they are behind in terms of experience, also their work/work place could be different. This makes them less efficient and are therefore paid less.

But honestly I'm suprised at the poll results. I'm going to assume that >99% of the people who voted are men so we can assume all the votes are men. That means 46% (it is still small sample tho) of guys think girls have it easier.

I think guys obviously have it easier. Men are for the better or worse still the primary decision makers in society. Yes women do have many leadership positions but men still dominate at the highest tier of government, as well as in academia and engineering/science industry. And as someone mention the fact that as woman you are so much more likely to be paid less. That alone would would make me say men have it easier.

Physically men are just stronger, faster, and more agile. Its proven fact. Obviously if a women trains she could easily surpass any man but on average men are stronger. That is a bonus as in life you are often faced with tough physical challenges, so the stronger you are the more likely you are to survive. That's a huge plus.

Your list isn't really factual stuff its pretty subjective. But imho men have a slight edge in life.

Girls are often defined by their bodies and looks more than any of their other qualities. A man has a far easier time getting respect for his ability over superficial bullshit.

A girl can probably live an 'easier' life just coasting along than a guy, but to anyone who wants to actually do something with their life, I think it's easier to be a man. Frankly, the biological bullshit they'd need to put up is a clincher, too.

Men are better off in most regards but legally worse off between military conscription, atrocious male-only prisons, lack of control in the event of accidental pregnancy (and consequent financial obligations), and virtually automatic child custody to the woman in a divorce.

I'm pretty happy to be a guy, fwiw.

Women live longer cause they are more accustomed to go to the doctor (ginecologist) and they arent afraid of asking if something is wrong with their body cause they are trained to know that when something is wrong with your body its a step away from sickness, while men just hate going to the doctor they go once a year if they go and they have very bad health cause of high cholesterol, and smoking. Not to mention that we tend to believe that our body can withstand any amounts of hotdogs, shots, frozen pizza, beer and fried bacon with out any repercussions, women are more aware of food binges, as it is Known that women create body fat easier than men and get fatter more easily just as men can create muscle mass with training.

I have come to an evolutionary conclusion Men seek skinny women cause it is more likely for their children to be skinnier hence their children both male and female children will have to face less problems related to obesity and cholesterol giving their children better chances for longevity.... this does not compute in fat couples as they have accepted that they will not attract the opposite skinny sex.
