Before we start making random assumptions on who, or that they're both equal, let's actually right down some facts and points.
+ Show Spoiler +KEEP IN MIND THE FACTORS BELOW ARE DIRECTED TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC, AND MOST CIRCUMSTANCES 1) Major point, girls have to give birth and go through "special" puberty. That may be true, however my counter argument is that boys get into fights, and the average boy fights a few times in his school life. The pain will add up where it is greater than birth pain, also including that fighting-pain hurts one mentally as well as physically, while birth gives you a happy mentality.
2) Boys are more "free" to do stuff. Boys can read comics, play games, and do other stuff while girls would be called a nerd/geek. Girls can dress more freely, as any color may be fine on them. Boys are limited from certain colors. Girls can act completely more freely, and express their thoughts, run around and yell, without being called a sissy.
3) It's easier for girls to lead boys than for boys to lead girls. No though counter argument for that. EDIT: elaboration is posted that girls can be more "flirty" with guys, and can usually do girly stuff to them, like just cut them at school and stuff. if guys try to do any of those they're gonna get slapped =O
4) Girls are more allowed to express their feelings. While girls cry, some guys will actually come to support and assist you, while if a guy cries, some people will "show" some sorry, however will not show as much affection.
5) Marital issues. If a married couple divorces, the female gets half the money. No counter argument for that.
6) As said, women can speak for freely. Girls can say "I'll get my girlfriends" while if a guy was to say "boyfriend," it wouldn't be right. =D Boys however, are allowed to cuss a bit more frequently, though this may not be that big of a deal to success in life.
7) Guys need to be more academically advanced, while girls rely on beauty. Vice versa in both ways, as long as guy's are completely ugly, girls should like them for their knowledge/money later on. As long as the girl isn't completely stupid, guys would like her if she's hot.
8) Women also need to help cook food (this is not sexist in any way, just a stereotype), take care of their children (not saying men don't...).
9) STUFF BELOW ARE COMMENTS TAKEN FROM USERS. DON't ASK ME FOR SOURCES ON THE ONES BELOW. Thanks to Klogan- Guys can pee while standing up... Thanks to someone on 3rd page- Women can take prostitution as a job. Thanks to Writer22816 The average women's lifespan is 10 years longer than a male.

guys and girls both have their difficulties, they're just different one life really isn't easier than the other imo. but then again what do i know! i've ever only been a guy so whatever i say it'll be bias!
|
OP, you're really going to make this thread on TL? You know, where the male/female ratio tends to be a little bit, well... skewed? ...Or, rather, a whole heck of a lot skewed?

Women can have it easier than men only if they are beautiful, and after they hit 45 they are fucked.. i see a lot more "lost" women in their 50s than lost men in their 50s men after their 50s they have great options if they did things right they have money and that brings a younger wife.. although it may backfire.. its a matter of opinion really.. but for me men have it harder early in life and easier later.. and women the other way around..

I don't know, it probably depends on the specific circumstances

So many important factors/considerations are left out of your facts/points, and they seem worded quite biased. Like #5? I get the sense that this is directed towards relationships where the women doesn't "work". Plenty of situations where the man doesn't work, or the woman makes more etc.

1. I doubt the average man EVER experiences ANYTHING as unmedicated childbirth in their lifetime O_O
2. Definitely true
3. Not sure what this means...you mean in relationships?
4. True, but that has drawbacks, i.e., women are seen as traditionally "weak" and "soft", making them more susceptible to daily harassment by horny guys and what-not. also most women tend to be ignorant of things such as car mechanics, meaning they often get ripped off in some of those situations
5. Well, the man gets half as well....? xD Also depends on law. Californian common law isn't the law for every other state/country
6. True, but changing imo. I've no qualms about giving manhugs.
Still a male-biased world, but I'd say in our lifetimes women and men will be wholly equal (in terms of wage earning, etc). This only applies to western post-industrial societies, of course =P

Both genders experience their own kinds of difficulties in life.

I guarantee you at least 80% of people think their gender has it harder than the other. There's too much bias and lack of perspective for the opposite gender, so everyone will always tally up things that are "hard" or "tedious" for them in every day life, and claim their life is harder than the opposite genders'.
|
If all of those factors cancel out it becomes an issue of the quantity of crap someone has to deal with
|
i'd say girls. yeah they need to worry about being pretty, etc they have the catty mental and emotional staredowns and gossiping. BUT i think they are more acustomed to that, just as guys end up getting used to work, physical pain, etc. it evens out i think in that regard. but even if childbirth is incredibly painful, it only happens a few times in life. 12 hours tops per birth. (a generous overestimation)
pain of birth? yeah it may hurt, but if u get stabbed, or get shot that hurts just as much as birth too.
when it comes to danger, guys have a sort of "duty to bravery" (can't chicken out) while girls have a "fear and helplessness". nonequivalent trade-offs there that even out once again.
any girl that is willing to not be lazy physically can pretty much do anything a guy can do when it comes to everyday activities. they may not be able to go harder in the boxing ring, or lift as much as a body bulider, but we're not counting the body bulider kind of extreme. i don't htink there's any serious physical advantage for guys when it comes to getting through life.
|
i have to say, when things go bad, girls get sympathy, guys get trashed.
|
Are these opinions, or do you have sort of source? I'm sorry if I sound mean or anything but this thread seems really stupid.

@rel Are these opinions, or do you have sort of source? I'm sorry if I sound mean or anything but this thread seems really stupid These are the public stereotypes, as I'm pretty sure you'll agree to some as well.
do we get to take into account every single person in the world? girls have it pretty hard in some 3rd world countries i would imagine. Omg, I told you as to other people, this is to the general public here, as in not including 3rd world countries
|
do we get to take into account every single person in the world? girls have it pretty hard in some 3rd world countries i would imagine. one thing men are more prone to is emotional pain, things like depression and stuff.

Counter argument for 5) Marital issues. If a married couple divorces, the female gets half the money. No counter argument for that. That depends on the state and the country. Rash overgeneralization.
Btw, since when do men have to be more advanced academically. In North American universities over half the student body is female. Also, since when are blue collar jobs something to be ashamed of? Any man who does honest work for a living is fulfilling his manly duties.

I know you would want both, but which one more?
