Years from now, when someone asks me what it was like watching Flash play during his prime, and in God mode:
I would tell that person to think of the most perfect player they can possibly imagine. Macro. Micro. Multitasking. Decision-making. Everything. Flawless.
Then visualize that player go up against Flash and get completely destroyed like he was no better than you or me.
Those two tanks sieging the hidden expo in game 3, waiting there for 2 minutes while the 4 Dragoons walked the long path to reach them, then he unsieged and left two seconds before the Dragoons were in line of sight. Any other Terran in the world would have lost those tanks.
Every game seemed like Flash was maphacking. Unbelievable game sense and timing with his pushes.
Since Flash became a bw pro, there have been 36 Starleagues (OSL+MSL+ASL+KSL). Him winning 10 of those is an absolutely mind-boggling achievement. Today's finals was the only appropriate manner for the most dominant bw player to cement his legacy.

Subtract the ones he didnt participate in please. Also list the number of finals appearances. That would make the stats very interesting.
I still remember watching the GOMTV Averatec-Intel classic VODs in 240p (or was it 360p) around 2008-2009. If I recall correctly people were already talking about Flash as this insanely talented 15-year-old. A decade later and he's turned into the best player competitive Brood War has ever known.
Starcraft 2 stopped being able to hold my attention around 2014 when WCS fell apart and some of my favourite casters and hosts moved up the eSports broadcasting career ladder and disappeared off-screen. A few years later I noticed that competitive Brood War was back in form after AfreecaTV singlehandedly revived it, and I started watching Brood War again. The first few seasons were rough, with a lot of newer players trying their hand at the game and struggling to defeat the few old school pros that had never really stopped playing. Having to watch a 640x480 game in the second decade of the 21st century also kind of hurt the eyes. However, it has been smooth sailing ever since Starcraft: Remastered came out. Broadcasting got a lot better, Tasteless and Artosis are better than ever, and the level of gameplay on display is staggeringly high.
It's been a rush seeing Flash dominate ASL after ASL, and I'm looking forward to seeing how Season 9 will turn out without Flash being the insurmountable roadblock that he is to many players.

I imagine Flash did not miss out on any OSL and MSL. He never played in KSL (so -3 here) and skipped one ASL due to health issues. He only has 3 silver medals - one in each of OSL, MSL and ASL.

No one could replace Flash, but I agree if you just mean top Terran; Light might evolve into a very strong player now that his TvP seems fixed and Fantasy said 2019 might be his last year in sc2, he could come back to BW.

That was what got me back into BW too. The Flash vs Stork finals, and Tasteless doing and English cast was a real novelty. I remember Flash winning two games on Katrina in huge goliath vs carrier battles... Amazing how he's just gotten better and better.
Flash showed again his dominance.Really felt bad for everyone trying to hype this final when it's all about GOD and his skills.
I also started watching BW with the GOMTV Averatec-Intel and for all these and newer BW fans you can find some great 240/360 games here, all from the GOMTV competitions: https://www.youtube.com/user/MickeyToss/videos (Flash vs Memory is great, F vs Stork of course and apparently all F vs J)
What an unbelievable performance at finals and dominating run - even with bo7 no one can take a map. He made look all top tosses like scrubs who took BW only yesterday. I srsly think we need some hardcore 12 hr KesPA training regime to match him. None of mortals stood a chance (only aliens ^^). I still loved courage SnOW showed but in the end FlaSh just unzipped his pants (if you missed watch it, he does this always).
GOD YOUNG HO FOREVER! ULTIMATE WEAPON HWAITING!

Got lucky getting 1st and last maps as Third World but he also won a sick tiring neck-o-neck game on Gladiator.

We fucking need terrorist terran back but guess he's doing OK'ish on GSL although nothing compared to his end KeSPA dominance.

He didn't miss any MSL since his first one at the GOMTV MSL Season 3 and didn't miss any OSL since the Daum OSL. So he won 3 of 11 MSLs, 3 of 13 OSLs, 4 of 7 ASLs that he participated in. He also won 2 of the 4 GOMTV events.
I'm really going to miss watching Flash play in tournaments. It's always an absolute pleasure.

+ WCG which was considered a premiere thing back then.
EDIT: Let's not say this is end of an era, I'm sure FlaSh will be back after some time, I have that feeling. Years pass so quick, it's already 2 years since SC:R came out. Instead let this amazing human/god being to inspire us at everything we do.
EDIT2: Anyone noticed unimpressed FlaSh mom and dad somewhere at 02:43:40? And that girl is his GF.

BTW you can also see how much Tasteless improved
I still wish he'd sneak in a pandabearguy remark into one of the casts, just as an easter egg. Also, if we could have SuperDanielMan back for even one game, that'd be great. Just for old time's sake.

Yeah, i mean substitute in top terran, no one will ever be like flash (probably)
