Are you a new brood war player? Do you want a chance to prove yourself as an up and coming force? Do you want to get games casted by names like LMaster, Sugo, TY2, and Tim? I am organizing an individual tournament for lower level players to be able to have at it against each other, and learn to prepare for a single opponent and matchup.
Who?
Any player with 1400 mmr and below (sorry anthem).
When?
This event would take place over the next month or month and a half depending on signups, with a round every week. Signups begin now, at https://forms.gle/TXRs241y9NEHMUXZ9.
The bracket will be announced Sunday April 7th, with the round of 16 being casted the following Sunday, and so on.
How?
The tournament will be a similar format to ASL. The ro16 (if we have that many participants) will be a group stage BO1, and following rounds will be a BO5 individual series.
Group Stage:
The first two games will be played on Medusa, with replays sent in by the winner no later than Wednesday 11:59PM GMT/7:59 EDT.
The winners and losers matches will be played on Crossing Field (from ASL4), with replays sent in by the winner no later than Friday 11:59PM GMT/7:59 EDT.
The final match will be played on Fighting Spirit, with replays sent in by the winner no later than Saturday 11:59PM GMT/7:59 EDT.
Games not finished in a timely manner will result in the players involved being disqualified and the other two advancing.
All games will be casted on the following Sunday.
Ro8 on:
The map pool is Crossing Field, Fighting Spirit, Colloseum 2, Heartbeat, and Medusa. The first game will be played on Fighting Spirit, with loser picking the next map. All replays must be sent in by no later than Saturday 11:59GMT/7:59 EDT of that week, with a failure to do so resulting in both player's disqualification.
All games will be casted on the following Sunday.

Hello, I am Jealous, and I approve of this message.
Jokes aside, I think this will be a great opportunity for lower level players to get involved in competitive play without feeling outmatched. There are many simultaneous leagues and Discords available for low level players now, which is great, but a cap of 1400 MMR is basically unprecedented in the RM era of BW from what I know, so I encourage people who fit the standard to join. GLHF!

Unfortunately not, it makes it too hard to prevent smurfing in. The way I currently have planned takes your entire account into view, not just the one ladder name.

Unfortunately I missed this but it seems awesome and really fun for newbies! Hopefully I can sign up in time for the next one.
Related to this, one suggestion I have is to cross-post stuff like this on Reddit. A lot of newer players use aggregation sites rather than those with BW exclusive content. I bet we will get a lot of more visibility that way =).

Hey man! I am glad you're interested, I'm sure we'll have another. We do have a discord to hop on to help find announcements if you like.
As far as reddit, I did post it on both r/broodwar and r/Starcraft, but I can't seem to get r/starcraft interested in voting it to the top any other subreddits you'd recommend? I want this thing to be as big as possible.
