extractor costs 50, by cancelling u lose 25%, meaning 12.5 minerals, = a bit over 1.5 drone running back and forth, and it's quite likely to do 2 minerals runs in that time ~

But you get the extra hat sooner, and with it more larva, which can be very important depending upon strat.

In the past I was had a lot of success with my 3 pool rush.
I never seen it done before, but it is deadly.
You kill yourself one drone at start, than when you have 150 minerals, you make spawning pool. And as soon you have 150 cash you make 6 lings.
Ok now back on topic. 9 pool is for fast damage. It is one of those do or die things. 9 pool rush is best for countering terran who goes fast expand. Or vs zerg to offensive sunken him. Vs protoss you combine it with ling speed, and you can mess him quite hard, puting 2nd hatch somewhere in between.

If you stick with 9/9, you have 3 larva a long time, then you make 6 ling, and your new larva will be done when the lings are almost done. I don't see how that extractor trick slows you down, since the 10th drone comes sooo much faster. It will probably do about 5 mineral runs before you could build a drone when you didn't do extractor trick.
Feel free to test it.

I tested it a while ago, and under perfect conditions ext trick sets you back about 5 mins. But you can do so much with that extra drone... I can't account for that.

The point of 10/9 build is you dont make overlord long time. And because of that 10th drone helps you a lot. The point of this build
is to have 2nd hatch very early and a lot of lings very fast.
This is I believe perfect way to defend fast expo vs fast zealot rush and terran off bunker.

what about gas? do you go speed? or just skip right to 3hatch?

There seem to be 3 main ideas with 9 pool:
1) no gas / 6 lings and secure expo (Yellow style)
2) gas / 6 lings, fast lair to lurk (with or without speed)
3) gas / very fast lurk drop (enough slow lings to survive)
Don't see much 3 hat off 9 pool. If you 9 pool you can secure expo with lings, so why 3 hat?

in zvp you can go speed, in zvt it's a waste.

chojja was so cool when i saw him before...he always upgrades zling speed..and if he got inside terran or toss or zerg base he would continue it else he would cancel and make lair and continue mining gas or he would make a hatch in his choke...ur pick
