As Terran, what do you do against 12 nex ? Just accept that you are fucked when you don't scout it first?

If you play 10/11/12 gas you can rush with scv/marine/vult for non-cross positions (with 10 gas you can rush cross too)

For cross position you can go straight into vulture+mine and go double expand (I assume FS for this case)

If you play rax FE or 14 CC you can just play a normal game. (and delay your siege upgrade for example)

If you don't do above, you can still play standard with minor adjustments, e.g you can delay your siege in most cases and relay on mines longer. You can also skip on some early turrets to pump more scv's and earlier 3rd CC. I don't suggest playing any 2/3/5 factory timings, as 12 nexus just have a lot of units.

Last thing you can try is to do an early drop, e.g vulture drop, but this is a gamble (although can pay off as P will often have a delayed observer if he makes at least 2 gateways after 12 nexus)

^ I've seen terrans do some 3 factory timings in games before, under what conditions and why, would you go 3 factory as opposed to 4/5/6?

If Protoss takes so greedy a third (1-2 gates) that you delay siege for a 3rd factory instead and just go with 3-4 tanks + vult (+ marines)? Not push to kill necessarily but to do dmg until his production kicks in - which would happen before you can do dmg if you waited for the gas for 4+ factories?

I'd be interested in some answers, too.

I would also love to know.

On Scan's stream he often likes to hit 6 tank timings. He seems to sniff out vulnerability, gets out tanks on the first fac, sets up two more facs as the gas comes in, and follows with vults. It seems to be a good way to spend vespene from one refinery.

The timing seems to work out well in Terran's favor; they will be making these tanks no matter what, and that's how many that just so happen to come out in this time. +2 Facs is the amount of gas leftover.

Would be great to confirm.

Is there a rule for what unit the AI attacks first, if it has a choice of targets? Is it by damage, dps, distance, or just random?

More importantly, is there a way i can exploit this to make marines target my ultras instead of zerglings ?

your units will attack units that are hitting it. if your units arent getting hit, then they will choose by distance.
if ultras and lings are running at you then the only way to get the marines to target the ultras (assuming there are lings closer) is to a-click them.
you dont want to do that though because its better to clear out lings first anyway

you'd just arrange your ultras to be on the front of your charge and lings behind?

But they always target damage-dealers first right? IE they target stuff like shuttles, scourge, etc that can't hit them last, regardless of distance or getting hit. Is it a binary "can this unit do damage to me" and then they choose by distance?

There is a ranking order within attack vs. non-attack units as well pretty sure.

In ZvP how do I deal with an early mass dragoon push? The attack usually hits when I don't have enough hydras to combat the dragoons and my simcity is suddenly worse than useless. Am I supposed to add 10 sunkens as soon as I see more than one dragoon or what? And should I make more lings instead of hydras in this scenario?

not sure about rankings between attacking and non attacking units, but they target units attacking them. its not just simply, zerglings can do damage and scourge cant so marines hit zerglings first. if the marines arent getting hit by anything theyll simply attack whichever unit is closest.
so to answer your question which i misread, you would put your ultras in front and run your zerglings behind.

if you start with 3 hatch spire you go muta ling with 1-2 sunkens. pick off reinforcement goons or attack his main while buying time with your sunkens and then surrounding his army with more muta/ling.

This!

And maybe have a small group of lings somewhere close to his natural.
When he moves out run-by and annoy the living hell out of him in his main.

Ok thanks, I'll try it.

Ling runby doesn't work very well in my experience though, since protoss always has 2 cannons at his nat and I rarely build more than 8 lings in the early game.

Scouting is incredibly important as well.
With your drone and lings you should be able to verify how many gates he is getting early on, gas timing etc.

I very often see Zerg getting an overlord close to my base as well, to fly it into my main, trying to confirm what I spend my gas on. (e.g. if you see early gas and corsair, you can be fairly certain it won't be a crazy mass dragoon push. if he has nothing but a core, chances are you'll need to be prepared.)

If they do a 5 gate goon and push out with like 6 goons then you won't have time to get mutas. They should attack your natural so just sunken up there and buy time with lings. once you have like 5 sunkens you can start your muta production and either counter attack or flood with muta ling.

What are better strategies to use nowadays? Old school strategies or new school strategies? Or is it better to play primarily new school with mixing in some old school strategies every now and then to mix up strategy? For example protoss against terran like using a old building placement of the gateway, cybernetics core with the gateway being close to the ramp and going into 1 gateway with dragoon range into early expansion into observers or into double expansion with zealots/speed into arbiters(sometimes mixing in carriers). Different building placement than bisu but yet kind of using his strategy of constant early expansion but to keep the game interesting and not just copying bisu's builds so much. Good players(experts/masters) and pros wouldn't suggest to copy pros builds or would they suggest to play our strategy but using their strategies to a degree mixing in strategies?
Protoss has always been the strongest race and always will be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
