I thought I saw a thread somewhere with Zerg economic/macro management guide basically. Stuff like managing hatcheries larva etc. Now I cant find it. Anyone know what Im talking about ?

I've used optical flare tvp on some occasions. basically I do like a 6 marine 2 medic 1 tank rush with 1 factory vulture followup, first research stim, optical flare next, push the protoss back to his natural, place a bunch of mines outside his natural, then either single expand with nothing but spider mines and medics to hold the protoss back if he didn't manage to start/hold his natural, double expand if he took his natural. like basically when your first spider mine gets attacked, you instantly scan and blind the observer. then you should pay attention to the same area like ~30 seconds later, scan and flare the next obs, if you're lucky you might delay his move out for like one and a half minute, and that coupled with initially underdefended liberal expanding gives you a solid entrance to the mid game.

fact is this would not work on pro level or against any protoss capable of consistently killing mines without observers, but I think on a level at or slightly below my own, it can work. I do think it's a build order I could lose against myself, and it's just about the most fun way of playing I can think of.

Really developed his optical flare build as shown above. I remember him saying that at first he tried it aggressively, but wasn't very successful and found that it was much more effective defensively.

Ssak very occasionally uses it vs zerg to blind lurkers on a ramp before rushing in with his marine medic.

Thanks for the replies. I'm always on the look out for builds and attacks that aren't the usual. Always wondered how flare would go.

I see good players click on a worker then click on the refinery then click them where they want them to go build something somewhere else . Is there a reason for this ?

Units get blocked by miners, miners don't get blocked by other miners. Since it's mining gas, it doesn't get blocked by other miners frustratingly witholding it from leaving the mineral lines and out into the open to build

I believe this is the reason.

Just testing it once yourself should have made this clear. You'll even see people selecting one of the gas-mining workers to build a building and put one of the mineral-miners in its place to even further minimize delays.

It even works with a geyser without a refinery/assimilator/extractor on it (i guess the worker counts as a miner until it realizes that the refinery is not yet constructed), and with mineral-patches of course.

Very useful for any similar situation where you want your workers to travel without getting blocked by other workers/units. I often send several or individual workers out to my natural by clicking on a mineral patch there even if i don't want them to mine. I pick them up once they reached their destination conveniently without the risk of them getting blocked. Similarly you can rally workers for a (bunker-)rush towards your opponents natural-mineral-line.

Another very useful application of this is the situation where you have a scouting-unit in your opponent's main that is about to die and you want to send another worker there to scout, but you expect your opponent to block the ramp in the meantime. If you have vision of one of your opponents mineral-patches (or geyser), you can send your fresh worker to "mine" from that patch and it will travel there without being blocked.

After the latest windows 10 update starcraft runs on full screen without the black bars on the side which I'm really not used to. Anyone has any idea how to solve this?

probably just in your graphics card settings/monitor settings. I don't remember off hand, but I've modified with it on 7 when it's done the same for me. Look up resolution black bars gpu monitor windows 10 and associated keywords, should be able to figure it!

My monitor has a setting that allows me to control that. Check if yours has it as well.

Why do you want to get a siege tank on top of the CC? The moment you siege it it will explode.

Easiest way to do it would be to put a tank next to CC and slide some scv's through it on a mineral walk -> stop the SCVs and spam click the tank on the command centre. This is a method although not consistent.
