i think as a general rule of thumb you want like 5-6 drones per hatchery. not 100% sure since i dont play zerg, but ive heard that before. so 5 hatch would have 25-30 drones, late game with like 8 hatcheries or so would have 40

When I watched Savior's VODs, I saw that savior in mid game make 2-4 drones than make army with all larva, then again 2-4 drone, then army, then drones, then army. And check his exp's. When there are 10-12 drones on meneral. He stop making drones and starts again when he placed new exp just like in mid game. It's hard to manage, but there is no word "feel" only count, how many drones you have and how many you need =)

It won't work because of highlighting parasite unit. Your opponent can just sent him on KAMIKAZE scout or on main. Secondly, it needs additional APM to control it. I tried to use ensnare on marine in late game. It's really hard!!! because I have to control defiler's consume, dark swarm and plague, lurkers, hatch production, minimap and... oh shit.. queens!

That is a relief. How may I explain, in a sensible way, how a player decides between when he will build drones from his hatcheries or fighting units?

He will build like 3 max hatcheries and only have like 15 drones so that his income is just perfect to allow him to consistently build units and at the same time his money stays low so he feels like he is macroing properly. How does he increase his income while balancing that with building an army? All I can tell him is to "feel it out." I would like a more definite answer.


If u play any defensive macro build, your general goal should be to get the maximum economy and just enough units to survive his incoming attack. at first your build order should tell u when to make drones/units, after that, the easiest way would be to have 1 hatch making drones and rest making units.
if u play an all in, u need a specific amount of drones to just have enough eco to support your all in so u can get the maximum amount of units at the desired all in time. (but its not 5 drones per hatch....)
there are some situations, where "max eco-just enough units", may not be the best solution, but thats rather high level stuff i dont want to discuss xD

Thanks! The first game is brutal, queen parasiting science vessel is like revenge for irradiations. And fantasy gg timing
I was just wondering because of

TLS finals, Julia vs Terror on Outsider. Julia had already queens (or a queen) and was using them nicely. There are some neutral critters on ridges there -- parasite would work on them normally and the Terran wouldn't know of them, right? :D

The second game is great too.

MAYBE... just MAYBE!!! If he click on some neutral critters and will see that this critters is parasite, then and only then it will not work xD

P.S. I don't think that Julia used his queens nicely or something like that. He make queen just for humiliating. He do not use queens for further advantage(like using ensnare). I think he didn't do that just because of lags. Lags sucks =D

For all ins build as bakuryu said u need to know exactly how many drones u need and not more not less.I am a math fan when involved into games and from my calculations i can share some info for those that are interested(with overlord costs included also since u need spend for suply too).
-1 hatch pumping hydras u need 5 mineral drones and 1 gas drone
-1 hatch pumping lings/drones u need 3.5 mineral drones
-1 hatch pumping mutas(based on 1 gas) u need 5 mineral drones and 3 gas drones or better said 5.5 mineral drones since u want spend all larvas
-1 hatch pumping scourges (in zvz) u need 2 mineral drones and 3 gas drones
-1 hatch pumping hydras that will morph into lurker u need 8 mineral drones and 5 gas drones(this is very handy in zvt where u make hydras just from 1 hatch and from rest u make just lings or drones and in this way u cant overmakes hydras if u go for lurker/ling strategy)
THis is not very hard to calculate since from my observation a drone(1 drone/1 patch) will mine on average on fastest ~72 mineral per minute and 100 gas per minute,and also 1 hatch will spawn 4 larvas per minute,once in14 seconds.

The basic thing is to scout better without units, he can't get a base up vs vultures if you've checked them. Basically if you see no fast expand and no early units then he's either got proxy something or some fast tech.

I have a question about FiSh server:
Whenever i try to host a game which contains the FS name in korean(don't have korean installed) i get a game by that name already exists message.
Any ideas on how to fix it?

NinaZerg helped me once with this. You need to change regional settings to Korean like time such and location.

After watching a game an old game on Colosseum I was wondering if it was it more standard to just 1+ zealot on that map considering that if the zerg takes 3 bases they need to invest a lot more in defense to hold the 1+ zeal timing off.

I really wasn't around in 2008 soo I am not aware of what is standard on that map, please enlighten me

+1 speed push wasnt around back then im pretty sure. even if there were attempts at a similar build, none would have been as defined as bisu's latest. sair/dt or sair/reaver was standard as per usual

the one without corsairs? that build is ancient. and it didnt deal with mutas too well. theres only one other build besides sair/reaver or sair/dt that i can think of which was viable and thats 4gate 2 archon. all stargate openings. pretty blurry memory though, you might want to check out some other games
