I am like: it is best to practice standard play.
Them: What is standard play?
Me: omg
Should I send them to Nevake's videos to get them really hooked onto playing BW the right way?
Iccup should really have TL links all over their website. it does not do a good job for newbies. I guess you could link this thread in your iccup profile: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=272906
Or this if you want to show them some cool games: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=197538
And Liquipedia of course.

Isn't there a beginner'a portal on liquipedia?

Where could I download professional games in video format?
Things such as FPVODs would be especially useful, thanks

Something along the lines of into the MSL.

So I've been off racing against my friends and I've been having trouble as Terran, we play a lot of 2v2s and I'm having trouble holding off a double/single 4 pool...my ally legitimately sucks (E level, he plays all three races but can't micro or macro...) if I can make it to mid game wih minimal damage I know I can dominate the game (cuz my friends are all E- level cheesers)...so how do I hold off a 4/5 pool as Terran? Ive been opening up with 2 Rax, and usually my barracks finishes as their lings reach my ramps...

You could open up with an inbase 8 rax -> bunker near your cc and just defend the 4 pool and catch up later in the mid game?
|
8 Rax is a really good opening in 2v2, especially if your ally 9 pools.
I used to download vods off of youtube with some firefox program called "video download helper"

From lurker's article on liquipedia :
It is always better to get the +1 carapace upgrade because Lurkers' attack don't stack
Lurkers attack don't stack ? I don't get it.
I understand the idea when playing against marines, as explained here :
With no upgrades, Lurkers kill marines in 2 shots. If terran has +1 armor, lurkers take 3 shots. When playing vs Lurker first, good players will get +1 armor faster, so +1 Ranged attack counters that. Then you go Melee after that because lurkers won't benefit much from more ranged attack since it takes +3 armor on marines to survive 2 shots from +1 lurkers, and that's far down the line. And once you get there, you won't have mass lurkers anyway, since you'll have defilers and maybe ultras.
But what about tanks and, "also", all protoss ground units ?

I have some questions regarding ZvT. In every ZvT, I go 3 hatch muta. But the Terran never plays the same so I am unsure what to do after my mutas pop.
Sometimes he is one basing, does this mean I should not try to expand and forgo my den in favor of in base macro hatch and mass muta/ling to kill him? what about upgrades? When should I drone up? What if he is going tanks. What if he is going goliath/mines.
If he is playing standard, I know I should get den, expand, evo, and quick hive for defilers. But what if my 3rd dies, then what kind of play do I go for?
I've been playing pretty rigid, but I would like to know how I should react during this crossroad in ZvT. Thanks!

What is realistically the fastest timing for a zerg player to get to hive tech/have defilers in play?

The 2 hatch play is more of what I was thinking. I didn't know if the econ was there to do that. Where do you transition from after fast lurker into hive. More lurkers + dark swarm? That could be scary, what minute what that be possible at in game time?

That could be scary, what minute what that be possible at in game time? 9 minutes 30 seconds, StarCraft time not real time. My timings weren't perfect so you could probably cut that down a lot, possibly as much as 30 seconds. That's not with me trying to get defiler asap, but rather playing a normal 2hatch lurker bust with the corresponding units and then teching to defilers behind it.
Here's a rep vs the computer, I have real game reps of it but not sure which ones they are ;P http://www.mediafire.com/?dajx5j201aax0j7
You could probably do it faster if you were making a build specifically for getting defilers. Keep in mind I'm D+ so my word is far from the best out there xD

if you need to add sunk or spore do so? sunk per medic ratio? you do the math

I've been playing pretty rigid, but I would like to know how I should react during this crossroad in ZvT. Thanks! Well, if he stays on 1 base and you held off the aggression, which should start when your mutas do harrassement and you are ready to tech to lurker, you go for a third and also tech to lurker while getting an army to stop him when he moves out.
the thing with 1 base is, terran cant stay too long on it. at some point he has to push out and do damage / take bases. if you are able to get a third while having a strong army to fight his army, you get more ahead (3 base vs 1 base instead of 2 base vs 1 base). not to mention its better to have atleast 3 gas for hive...
and you want lurker vs goliaths. lurker are pretty good. as terran wont have unlimited scans, you can delay him pretty good.
as mentioned above, if you are still teching lair or before, place 1-2 sunken vs vulture and/or hydra den vs wraith...but this is relaed to what you scout.

versus 1 base stay on 2 base and mass lurker/ling until they expand, then expo and tech hive when they expo. drone after you break their push, or once you have enough zerglings
you want hydra+muta+ling versus mech. lurkers aren't that good against goliaths or tanks, but later on you might want a couple to hold off pushes with swarm
if your third dies take another 3rd
