Having semi-rigged qualifiers using manual seeding makes this very unlikely to happen.
It has a strong technique, but it lacks oo.

I wonder if there will be any new names? I wish there were.

I never was a part of Starcraft cybersport, but i was doing cybersport in couple other big titles, both as a player and as a judge later on. And i think there's one big thing which may help to answer your question: it's how many players are taking podium spots.

See, when it's just real few guys - some 5...6 players tops - who end up taking top-3 spots in all or almost all tournaments, all the time, - then new names rarely appear. Because everyone knows "naah, can't beat _these_ fellas", and it reduces newcomers' motivation real much; but also because mere fact of so few players always (or nearly always) winning tournaments - means that these few actually are much stronger than all the gazillion of potential challengers, which can only happen when there's a number of very special things going about such top players (which can be their unique talent, and/or their especially strong motivation created by an unusual reasoning, and/or some rare sorts of humble advantages such top players have, with or without knowing).

But when tournaments are regularly won by some 10+ different players, then it's much more likely for new players to enter the competition, and so way more new names regularly appear - as well as disappear. The scene is "more fluent" and "changing" then.

I think you know which of said two cases is more about ASL, right? So your hopes and expectations could possibly be adjusted as per above, if it sounds reasonable to you.

YSC goes by Teoltube or Tulbo. Used to go by Huro. His name is Yun윤 Su수 Cheol철. nOOB is Kim김 Beom범 Su수. Used the name Cave since January or so. Used Eros_dOg and WorlddOgdAy in 2023.

i think i read harsh comment somewhere here or reddit that bw proleague/asl is an inbreeding society that doesn't really welcome any foreigners, Koreans or otherwise

there is like 10-15 players that can win asl and no one new will ever win it again

To get meaingful traction in the Korean pro community you need a few things:
1) know korean and build a network in the korean community. (very important because you'll need good korean to converse with pros during pro leagues)
2) stream and grow a viewer base
3) get enough viewers who can donate for sponsored matches vs other pros.
4) get good results vs pros.
5) get enough viewers willing to donate when you get invited to a pro league, so that you will get invited again because you bring $$ to the table. But you also have to get results, unless you bring lots of $$$ to the prize pool at which point they won't care about your results. But good results definitely helps because they'll be happy with you on their team.

The above is already very difficult to do for top amateurs and lower tier pros. There are 3 pro league tiers.
Major League for the tryhards like Rush, Snow, Mini, Royal, Light, Soulkey, Queen, Jaedong, Bisu, JyJ, HerO and Best.
K-league for the very good pros who are a bit less serious about it and largely play for the entertainment and money. Think of EffOrt, Rain, Sharp, GGaemo, YSC, Paralyze, BTS, Action, Stork, Shinee, Motive, Ruin and Mind, Sacsri, Hyuk, Barracks, SSak, Ample.
K2, former moonlight, for the mid-low tier pros who can't frequently get into K-league and have to organize their own. Scan, Motive, Ruin, nOOB, Hm, 815, ArtUser, Sacsri, Promise, nOOB, Speed, Ample, ZeloT, ssinz etc. You got to at least be as good as they are to get there.

Now why is this all important? You got to mingle, interact and build connections so that Korean pros will play with you more and more and more, which will result in you as a player growing more and more and more until you're good enough to consistently bring a level comparable to theirs. Only a few "outsider amateurs" have managed to get into this group. Scan, promise, ZeloT, Ssinz. Everyone else was already part of the group.

Major Proleague and K-league guys are the best because they get the highest amount of games in vs other Major Proleague and K-league tier players. The others simply can't get the same volume of games vs that top level of players. it limits their growth because you need to play vs the top to become the top.

That's what a formal esport teams were really good at: training and bringing up new talent by giving them a place to train/practice all day vs other players of equal/greater skill (even though they had to work ridiculous hours for basically no pay). The current player pool at the top is incredibly skilled but will eventually dry out and whoever is left to replace them will have a much smaller draw and be way less skilled :\

University teams do sometimes give promising lower tier talents a door to become part of the network. Its somewhat how Promise got in.
