I remember a 2on2 back in the days where an opponent went evo chamber, evo chamber, spore colony. Then my first lings arrived to scout... Probably second game, losing the first game to mutas. :D

Can't they just use the old bnet code or whatever (I'm a computer noob, have no clue about these kind of things) and adapt it to the new patch 1.18. Old Bnet worked fine, why not PTR?

that said, I think they released a new version PTR F, which should fix the create game crash.

I'm talking about things like /f a, /f m etc. and some other things that just are not working. For example, yesterday I wanted to join a game but dedicded to host myself, so I clicked on "create" (while being in the "joining section", I wanted to see join-worthy hosted games first). Then all of a sudden my bw crashed after I either clicked "Create" or "Cancel" (in that joining section). I restarted bw, logged in, clicked on "Join" then on "Create" (cuz no games were hosted that I wanted to join) and again, bw crashed. This same procedure happend 4 times in a row and after it worked for whatever reason. I absolutley didn't change a thing. Me too, i think it's a disgrace they can't such a simple system to work. It's not like it is new terrain for Blizzard. They actually did this multiple times with many different games! Also they are missing so many of the comfort-features which is driving people nuts. All we needed was a working interface like the old one. They could have updated the graphics of the old battlenet 1.0 interface and add some fancy icons and it would have been perfect.

Programming is largely creative work, so when you have to update, or understand something one guy wrote 20 years ago, who has since retired or moved on... It's not easy at all. Ever.

But is essential to have prepared specifications for the features that are already working and liked by the masses. They seem to miss this.

Also, they do the test realm to find and fix these issues, so that the actual release will be smoother. People need to realise that when you get onto a test realm, you have to expect issues like this. That's what "test" means. If you want to play as usual, stay on live and wait for release. And even at release you can expect issues at the start.

Well, for me these kind of things like /f m etc seem to be basic and not as hard to manage compared to fixing connection issues or in game bugs or whatever. I really can't imagine this is something hard to do. I know this is a test but things like these should be working. (Again, I no nothing about programming). Edit: I highly doubt there are noob programmers working for Blizzard so I guess one can expect at least the interaction between players on the server should be working with first release or at least the first update after.

Or some weird hybrid, but then they have to link IRC to bnet friends list in order for that to work. Either way, there is work to be done from scratch on the advanced chat commands side, and that does take time. I think their focus is on netcode, latency, and everything else first.

It's far better than it was a week ago. Plus maps download really fast now. Give it time, it will be better than the original interface soon enough.

I'm not trying to be negative but it is extremely jarring they thought it was okay to announce the release of 1.18 in its original state. It really makes you question if they have any idea what they are doing or if they tested it at all when you couldn't even get games to start 50% of the time. Not to mention they totally stripped a ton of features of the original battle.net and made the design more unintuitive. Despite that I'm ecstatic that they have listened to our feedback though and have been working hard on making things right. But what they did compares to showing up as a referee to a professional Volleyball game and giving them a deflated ball with holes poked in it and giving the players a nod and wink.
