Can you literally not see what I would be implying with such an inane statement? Someone made the argument that made SC2 numbers notable, even though they were lesser than ASL BW numbers, because of the Western engagement and interest in the game, and you called that "shameless myopic jingoism".

Other classics that underwent the "remaster" treatment has had spotty results. Fair concern but it's also blizzard and their polish on game visuals is absolutely top quality. Coding and gameplay bugs is a bit of a different story but blizzard is damn good at presentation. they can still do quality producing or presentation but I think they have lost most sense of art direction so may end up with something that doesn't feel as good/deep/unique/interesting (like all their games after like war3 or maybe first wows)

I didn't think it was that inflammatory, but I'm sorry that it ticked you off.

Its obvious that the Brood War numbers are going to be higher, especially with the starpower of Jaedong and Flash in Korea,, no one is arguing that, but thats ignoring that made those peak SC2 numbers important and notable. Its Apples and Oranges.

If they make this it will gain a lot of traction, and will probably make those guys that are playing BW in korea move to this remastered versión so Blizzard bennefits too, but honestly I find it almost imposible to reach the level of viewership even starcraft 2 had around 2012. AOE2 does well. Also the viewership of ASL3 at its peak was almost double any peak SC2 ever had. you're wrong

This marked the individual StarCraft II progaming debuts of BoxeR and NaDa. -TL wiki
Over 750 000 people tuned in for BoxeR's round of 64 match. -TL wiki

Oh so it was mostly Koreans watching. Doesn't count then!
On second thought, this stat is in favor of SC2. Now Koreans count!
On third thought, Biolunar is right. We should stop BW/SC2 comparisons and focus on the topic at hand.

That over 750k people only wanted to watch Boxer's RETURN from retirement, the founder of Esports, and not SC2 is evident by 750k not being broken even after Boxer reached the RO4.
Any WCS finals never went beyond 170k.
750k was reached because of the hype around SC2 + famous Oldschool Broodwar players returning. Hence of those 750k, about 600k didn't stay and most of them were very likely BW fans.
Meanwhile I haven't seen SC2, or any esport breaking 120k live viewers on the beach of pusan http://www.teamliquid.net/staff/Carnac/2005goneby/20.jpg
Without BW viewers, this 750k viewer count would not be reached even remotely.

ok guys, enough with the BW vs SCII talk. It's shitting up this thread. Either discuss what you'd like to see in the remastered version, if Blizz announces something or leave this thread.

does anyone know for sure if the announcement is coming on that i <3 starcraft event? looks to me the Korean article is clickbait as fuck, just like the last septembers clickbait article about bw remaster.
dont get me wrong, im excited, but that sports seoul website is a cesspool of clickbait titles and photos. looking at the side bar photos makes me want to puke

Why are some of you fighting over games, numbers ... i come here cause i love starcraft. There is so much bad happening IRL and we have to continue this war here, one my favorite places on the internet? Cant wait to see TBLS playing :D

1) This is the first SC1 showmatch by Blizzard in a long time, decent prize money, too.
2) The article came days before the I <3 Starcraft event was announced, which brings me to point
3) Mike Morhaime, the CEO of Blizzard is hosting this event. Typically he's the guy that announces new games and the like.
4)The SC1 Anthology is "Sold out" on the Blizzard store. That doesn't make much sense for a digital product unless they're going to replace it with something.

shit, I'd be happy for increased sprite limit and OS compatibility fixes

Someone mentioned we should have a SC2 vs BW thread, where is it? :D. But to get ontopic, do you guys think Blizzard is gonna do something about the maximum number of units/buildings you can have in a game? I mean the type of limit where you have 5-6 players all maxed out on 200/200 and you cant build anything, larvas wont spawn, ranged units wont shoot etc. I think that should atleast be fixed and I hope that it does, It's annoying trying to engage with your army and only 15% of them are actually attacking lol.
