Since iCCup is trash now we all need to move to Korea and get citizenship to be able to ladder on BW. Or just wait year two maybe when Blizzard will settle new patch and fix their official gateways. On April 03 2016 03:39 sdjklahsjask wrote: honestly in 2016 to have a server only for a certain race/country is really mindboggling. oh well, its unfair. the foreign BW scene has been in its death throes for awhile now, just another nail in the coffin. People are still really not understanding the fact that this is SOP for many Korean games. Why should Fish/BW be the exception? People are also ignoring the fact that this fixes issues which were much more prevalent than the presence of foreigners on Fish, namely smurfing. The presence of foreigners on Fish is such a small minority that I doubt it was even considered a "problem," although that is my opinion. It's not mind-boggling and it's not elitist. It is "unfair" in the sense that you could play before but not anymore. However, fairness was never part of the equation and life is unfair. Foreign BW scene, as has been mentioned before in this thread, might actually benefit from this. With top foreigners being forced to either jump through hoops to play on Fish or return to ICCup, the ICCup player population should rise. ICCup/foreigner-only tournaments like TLS were a thing even before this change. Long story short, people need to check themselves. Talking shit about Fish admins and whining on forums achieves nothing.

there will be a hangul captcha but just google virtual korean keyboard and if you type the hangul characters as you see them, its really quite easy to get around. msg me if you need help. after you're logged into the website, you will see a tab for cell phone verification. use your korean friends phone number, and then theres another capcha. after you input it, it will send the SMS to the phone and get ur friend to tell you what it is, enter it and you're done! you can now play on fish ladder. just becareful in game and don't talk ever and always gg don't bm. make sure you get map pack so you don't get banned for not having maps. if this post isn't allowed, please just delete it, please no ban. since this is private server in korea (which is technically illegal anyways) i don't think this is against any laws. i mean most korean games you need a korean social insurance number to play which i assume is hella illegal to use. although many korean kids use their grand parents to get around restrictions. the worst thing that will happen to you is probably get your account banned then ip banned from fish. msg me if you need any help!

I see, that could very well be true. I thought you were going in a different direction, as in illegal by Korean law.

[/QUOTE] The fix part has yet to be proven, I seriously doubt it's such a big issue. People have been complaining about this for as long as I can remember. Casuals stop playing not because of the smurfs, but because they're bad and other modern titles allow for faster learning curves. For the established players smurfs also mean shit, because why would they? How does that harm you from improving? As for the SMS part: Only because it's the standard in Korea doesn't mean you can't or shouldn't critize it. If you actually buy into the "smurf" bullshit you underestimate what really is the driving factor: farming for data which you can use to gain money. There are way less intrusive means to achieve "banning smurfs" or "restricting accounts to a user", at least that's what I've been told by some hobby coders. That's nothing to do with talking shit about admins or pointing made up racism, it's critizing their policy. And that's okay. They're not giving a shit and Korean users seem to not care.

That's why D ranks in iCCup are Platinum (or how do they call the top league) in sc2. Many of new players in BW say that the game is hard for them. I've never heard that someone is quitting BW because he was smurfed... They could easy ban Last and automatically gets 50% of Ladder places free...

If I need I can say this to Fish admins, but I don't know korean. Even if all SC2/CS/HOTS/LoL will gather here they won't achieve anything so trying to prevent people talking shit is clueless. You seem not to understand how ridiculous is this: we lost ONE huge ladder server which we were playing. Being all battle.net servers dead the last remaining hope is iCCup. If it will be down because you can expect everything from russian admins, if DotA kids will donate more to it they can shut down BW and only host one game which gives benefits them we can say farewell to BW. On the other hand, Blizzard listed Iccup as the official bw ladder on their own website years ago (as far as I remember).

I only say this because after reading this thread a bit I did some research on xenophobia in Korea and apparently it's a very real issue, especially with the older generations. I've also watched a video with a German caster talking about his experience in Korea and how he received racist remarks several times during his visit. During my time on fish many users would ask me "from?" (I guess due to my ping being above normal) and when I said Canada they'd either be super nice or call me a dog fucker or something and leave the game. I'd say it was 50/50 chance of them being a racist when they found out I was a foreigner That video IIRC must be Khaldors, right? He is telling about really good example of it IRL, still it got nothing to do with Fish trollers because I'm sure as hell can tell that I encountered this type of shit on iCCup much more. What I wanted to say that Fish population honestly won't gonna give a fuck of 1% foreigner players and just for sake of it implement this bullshit. In other hand if they call you "dog fucker" you can answer them "dog eater" - which is worse - dog raping or consumption?

IIRC dogs aren't looked at positively in Korea as in Europe/US so I guess dog eating is actually positive ![]()

ive played a lot on fish and when they ask me where im from i say canada and mostly we have a huge korean immigrant population in canada so mostly they're nice to me. when i taught english in korea they were very nice to me but behind my back i was always the white guy. hard to belong. anyways rant over. i'm doubtful the the admins had the foreigners in mind because almost every korean game has verification stuff like this but since xenophobia and racism is really common in korea its hard to say.

If everyone just returned to iccup, the skill level will increase and it will be easier to get games. I'm sure I will, see you there!
