So in a desperate attempt to break the curse, they had an idea : "Let's just skip bad version numbers so we will only make good windows !"... hence windows 10 ... they just made one terrible mistake ....
WRONG
You are missing windows 2000 pro which was really good. and a much better deal than winme and xp imo, too bad that they didn't keep it updated a long time, I would have never switched until win7 -_-

this lists can never be right because they include 3 separate windows lines, win 3x, win 9x, and winnt.
The list doesn't have 3.0 and NT3.1,NT3.5x, NT4, 2000 and 95A/B/C, 98SE because then it would break the list. Anyway 2000 did get updated for 10 years so I'm not sure what you are talking about not being updated a long time. Although it did miss out on the anticipated Service Pack 5 from what I remember.

Software developers wouldn't provide compatibility with win 2000 pro anymore once XP was released, at least for the programs I was using, that is why I had to switch to winxp.

Ah thats what you meant, yeah thats definitely true especially as it seems that starting from Visual Studio 2010 you can't even build applications that work on 2000. The same thing will happen to XP more and more though eg Paint.net 4 no longer works on XP.

Windows 2000 was an NT OS, not a mass public OS. Claiming Windows2000 was better than XP is stupid because Windows 2000 and XP aren't even similar operating systems aside from the fact they're both made by Microsoft. You're talking about something that was MADE for larger scale businesses (Windows 2000) vs something that was made for residential use (WIndows XP).

Both 2000 and XP are NT versions 5.0 and 5.1 respectively. Saying they are not similar is ludicrous however XP marked the end of 9x and NT was now finally used by both consumers and enterprise.
This Is How You Fix This Problem In 5 Easy Steps!!
*1 Go to computer school for 5 years. *2 Learn solutions architecture, with a emphasis on virtualization technology, which takes 1 or 2 years. *3 Get a MSDN developer subscription which gives you free access to any software from Microsoft. *4 Install a layered ESX-R virtual machine on your PC, such as VirtualBox or WMwareWorkstation. *5 Create one virtual machine for each operative system starting with windows 95 to the most modern one.
Congrats! you just solved any software to operative system compability you ever had in the past or ever will have in the future!

Depends on the quality of the virtual machine and how high end your computer is. The long answer is that there are two kinds of virtual machines(VM), one that uses your existing operative system and one that is loaded right after you loaded your BIOS settings.
If you are using a VM that is loaded after that you loaded a local copy of your operative system then you are running two operative systems and some kind of emulator between the two systems where the emulator is responsible for certain drivers, such as sound, grahpics and so on since your VM needs certain drivers and resources from your local operative system. Due to the emulator and the fact that you are using two operative systems it will become slower, and in some cases the grahpics might not display properly.
The second solution where you first load the VM right after the BIOS is practically identical to having a normal operative system installed since you then only have a thin interface pausing the whole process between the BIOS and the actually booting of the operative system which just asks you what kind of operative system you want to boot with, and once the boot has been made its just the operative system that is actually running and nothing else.

I think I'll just skip the first three steps and do that anyway.

Thanks for the info. I'll probably just create a winxp partition in that case to avoid any issues.
I'm just glad they're getting rid of this windows 8 crap. I bought a new comp about 6 months ago, had windows 8 which looks like it's for fkin tablets.... and the windows updates for it fked my comp up twice and microsoft wanted $140 to fix it each time after admitting it was their update's fault. Glad a new windows is coming out, glad its back to the old format, and hope to god windows 8 dies and never returns. Honestly though... who puts a fkin tablet operating system on a pc... who uses a touch screen monitor on a pc... so stupid and ineffective rofl...

Same as Windows 8
So fine in full screen apart from BNet is that correct?
