Yes, you have to open ports 6112-6119. I had the same problem with latency (I am behind a router). You have to do port forwarding to these specific ports for battle.net, for more information click here.http://www.portforward.com/cportsnotes/battlenet/battlenet.htm

I have a wireless one. But when we moved house it got stuck inside the wall in the garage and every computer in the house is "hardwired" to it...

Is it normal for a wireless router to have frequent lag intervals? My friend's router makes the drop screen pop up every 40 seconds or so. Its really annoying. Is there some sort of setting he needs to tweak?

I have a similar problem... I had to format my HD and reinstalled everything again, Windows XP Pro (no SP2), I have a DSL connection (512/128) under a DSL modem, so I don't use a router. Everything was great before formating, I neved had lag at all, never. Now I lag a lot, I don't know how to fix it, people start hating me, they say close MSN or stop Emule... the thing is that I have everything closed... well everything but Panda antivirus, I configured Panda to let SC connect to internet and opened the SC ports. I see a 1 green bar beside my name, I can create games and people can join, but as soon as we start playing (2 vs 2 or 3 vs 3), I lag, and many times I get a DISC, its fucking annoying.

If you think that Panda is the problem, I could change the antivirus, what do you use or recommend ?. Panda works great, and it blocks all attacks, but perhaps is the problem I don't know...

I posted this in this thread as I think that is totally related, and could help.

You can try to install another antivirus (Kaspersky is the best antivirus program right now) and test. Did you diable the sucky windows software firewall? Did you kill the security center service?

For all of you that can't find passwords or don't have them; there are probably ways to reset the passwords. Same with computers and bios passwords.

Find the exact name of the router and search google.

Thanks TKWL, I'll try to test it removing Panda and installing Kaspersky !

I don't have Windows SP2 installed, and I use a DSL modem to connect to internet, I don't have router with closed ports. The Internet Connection firewall box is not checked... I'll try Kaspersky, and if this is not working I'll format everything again and pray

Vharox, it's probably ur WIndows XP firewall, since u were able to host games be4.

Try to disable that. Search google on how to disable it.

Since it's actually on my mind right now, I'll save him a google search:

Start -> Control Panel(optional) -> Network Connections. Right-click the desired connection. Properties -> Advanced tab. Under Internet Connection Firewall, uncheck the Protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from the Internet check box.

Try disabling your WinXP firewall. Instructions are in the post above this.

I'm having the same problems with latency.

When I type "ipconfig" into the run box, a black window comes up and then disappears a few seconds later.

I posted earlier, but no one could answer my question so I'll piggyback here. I can not create games and have people join. All of these problems started when I switched from Static DSL to PPPoE Dynamic DSL. I have XP, but do not have service pack two installed. I opened 6112-6119 on my router.

Any ideas? I do not have the XP firewall enabled and all my router settings (6112-6119) are correct.
