He never proved it viable, but he proved it was pretty damn awesome to watch. yeah but that was different boxer ghost carrier lockdown? do you mean when boxer blinded all the observers near the carriers, or when all the BC's were locked down within 1 second and swiped by wraiths? and those two moves were actually pimp and took skill, whereas the things i mentioned like the zealot/ling micro and the free vs hiya game didn't really have those things =/ basically, the things people are mentioning in this thread and what boxer did in those games that he lost, are completely different but seriously you guys should check out the pimpest plays of all the years if you haven't already, definitely something you would want to check out as a brood war fan | ||

Actually if you look through older pimpest plays there are cases of games where players executed a style/build extremely well. Example that comes to mind is that old sair/reaver match on lost temple (massive air battles, cannons on the ledges, etc. etc.) and that came from one of the early pimpest plays. You could say that cannons were unorthodox but ledge abuse was common for T and P in all the match ups at the time so it wasn't really. Of course you can't take a game that, for example, Jaedong played perfectly in just because he played perfectly in. But say that there is a series of fights in a TvZ that exhibit insane control and are just incredible to watch or basically intense moments, Boxer was shown multiple times in various PP taking down crucial buildings with 1-2 marines and a medic while dodging armies. That's not something unorthodox it's just cool to watch. Anyway the point of this is stop being such a fun nazi. The whole point of PP is to exhibit stuff that is cool, that made people go 'Wow, that's awesome'. This isn't 2004 or even 2006/7 anymore, there isn't a lot of unorthodox crazy shit coming out anymore, if you don't allow things like incredible control, or awesome games be used you're going to end up with 3 PP and that's it. | ||

And then there were "standard" games, like Jaedong vs. Yellow or Bisu vs. Hyvaa. Nothing in these games has not been done before, yet people (and me too of course) went nuts because they were so awesome. Another thing to note is that pimpest play doesnt automatically mean you have to win the game. That was never the case. So the Hiya/Free game has pimpest plays and is one of the top pimpest games no discussion. The whole game was just pimp and epic, 3 port wraith into hidden expo into nukes into last second stasis into mind controlled SCV. So the question is where to take this thread to. I think the "Baller Plays" is an excellent video. It is not quite on one level with the "Epic Moments of Starcraft" video, but it is still awesome to watch. And like Pioneer said, there just are not that many things left to be done for the first time - probably. Still it would be cool to list not only the epic battles but also small details and deviations that make the big difference. | ||

By my definition, pimpest play is the pimpest move. Like in basketball it'll be a dunk or a crazy 20+ yard pass with a touchdown in football. If you include the whole entire game, then it'll be the best game of the year. I'll say some of the ones I remember are like Jaedong's Lockdown arbiter Really's Optical flare observer Some of ruby's play against zerg, like one-of-every-kind-of-unit-build v jaedong Stork's carrier play Effort's offensive sunken etc | ||
